I have hiked to and vlogged Royal Basin countless times now. At times I have made it an overnight trip, but most of my trips have been up and back in a day, going light with just the essentials and my camera gear. I had made the climb up to Royal Lake (Royal Basin) in the Olympic National Park four years ago in April for the lake thaw, it has been on my mind to return since. I was not sure about the snow level as there has been more snowpack this year. Fortunately (doing some post holing along the way) I timed it just right to catch the lake barely thawing and got just what I went for.

Correction: I stated that the falls were on the east side of the lake, when in fact they are on the west side.
