Interstellar was fcking amazing. In fact, at the time there were no images of a black hole, only mathematical evidence of its existence, so it was a prediction of what one would look like. It was so scientifically accurate that each frame of the black hole took ~100 hours to render.
One thing a parent never wants to do is out live their child, the look in his eyes says it all, it hurts, far more than any other pain, as he knows what is soon to come.

Imagine there are dozens of flash frozen corpses drifting along the path of Earth's orbit out there in the dark void of space. Bodies of the scientists who mastered time travel and thought they'd just appear in the 1950's version of where they left, but instead popped into deep space at whatever place the earth had been at that time.
If you watch some peer reviews of the science behind the gravity to time ratio in this movie, you'll see that while the concept is true, they greatly exaggerated it's effect to make a more interesting "Hollywood" entertaining film. One of my all-time favorite movies

If, say, youâre living in some orbital station around a Black Hole, and keep popping out kids and sending them out to other settlements not around black holes, you know whatâs gonna happen. If youâre immortal, you know the first time that thereâs a risk your kids wonât be, and after that youâll know for certain.
I always love that the station and their people where culturally american midwestern. So many scifi writers are so obsessed with technical aspects that forget cultural ones

Because the movie is made for an audience that the movie is made in. And it's easier to explain why everybody speaks English if it's an America for an American audience. It's hard to make a movie where everybody's in Japan speaking Japanese and then having to translate or Justify why everybody speaking English in Japan for an American audience

I watched an analysis of this film that argues the dad is dead by this point. He died in the 4th dimension and this is his final fantasy: -His favorite baseball team is still playing in a similar looking field -His daughter is alive & famous, surrounded by loved ones -He fulfills his promise to his daughter, who still loves him -The woman he loves is still alive, and they go travel into the white light/ the great unknown together. And viewed that way it makes sense why he just leaves without talking to any of his grandkids. They aren't real, it's a fantasy.
I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the lady laughing. Its one of those moments where emotions are nuanced. Imagine someone close to you dying, and they rip a joke to lighten the mood while you're crying. Something along the lines of "Damn man. I knew going to Blake's place was a bad idea!". I get the same feeling as that. She's being respectful knowing he is one of the pivotal individuals of humanity. She's just trying to get as much joy from the situation. Smiling knowing he judt came back from a suicide mission, and laughing from the misunderstanding. She also knows that its named after his Daughter, which she, and I, imagine is something that he would be extremely proud of.
Interstellar is a 10/10 film, an absolute masterpiece. Those who do not think so - it's not your fault that you do not fathom the way the universe, space, time, matter works.

Interstellar ended in such a magnificent way that I was both dying for a sequel, but I knew I would NEVER want one, it would never be good enough. The movie is perfect the way it ended here.
Can we just appreciate how good the nurses acting is... The surprise, derision and amusement all encapsulated in a 2 second clip... That looked as genuine as real life.

That cooper wasnt all that welcome at his daughters deathbed, and that he teleported back to earths system. Or that his daughter never told them about cooper sending the messages. My late father took me to see interstellar in the cinema, we both have/had a scientific mind and we both loved this movie. Mr.Cooper took the kids and raised them on a farm until he went away on a space mission. Murphy met her mum again and told her she was leaving to stay in a nursing home. Years go by and she receives word that her Dad has returned. Murphy Cooper gets to meet her Dad again before she passed on and he gets to meet his grand,Great grand and great great grand children.
I've grown up w McConaughey, wasn't a fan in the early years, but I enjoy the hell out of him now. Check out Frailty if you're a fan. That movie is insanely underrated. I wouldn't have watched this movie has her not been in the role.
Movie is God tier. Gotta rewatch it and they atleast used relatively for the movie when traveling on a planet near a black hole (atleast to what we know about black holes)
