    I had the opportunity to try out the KQi Air at the IFA trade fair in Berlin. It's a great scooter that is really extremely light. Nevertheless, it has comparable features to the KQi3 MAX. The deck is nice and wide. The acceleration is great. I like the half twist throttle grip. It is a very well made and well thought out scooter.

    Be great if this had rear turn signals on the fender and a decent drum break as it’s easier for maintenance and adjustment. Also be good if the air X model had a 500 watt motor, as it’s fully carbon fiber it would still probably be the same weight as the standard air. Cant knock this first iteration though from Niu. Great looking scooter and nice to be original with the carbon fiber, twist throttle as standard too. As always a great review guys!

  • @Nemonurwingy
    @Nemonurwingy Před 6 měsíci +5

    It’s interesting looking, but I just can’t see doing it for the price. A lighter electric scooter was the first thing I bought PEV wise, half this price, and I went ebike after that, and then discovered what I’d buy instead of this, an InMotion V8S EUC. I’ve subsequently bought a faster EUC, but I still use the V8S all the time, because it’s around the weight of this scooter, but more compact and will outperform it and I bought the V8S for significantly less than the price of this scooter. For errand stuff or short commuting, mixed mode stuff, I just don’t see how I’d do a $1,000+, 20 mph scooter. People who are utilitarian commuting on a scooter will do something way cheaper that weighs 4 or 5 pounds more or something a bit slower that weighs similar. That price is getting you into 30-40 mph scooter territory.

    I was considering this one, but went with the Uscooters GT Sport.
    I wouldn't mind paying $300 more for the carbon fiber and other features, but that top speed is quite limiting.

    My only concern with this scooter is its potentially brittle frame like a carbon fiber bike. Magnesium is known to fail catastrophically like carbon fiber and those microfractures can begin even with a seemingly inocuous nudge to the frame, especially in the locking areas.
    It needs a long term review with extensive, realistic daily usage before I even think of owning one. Otherwise, I'd rather go with the Segway Ninebot F2 Pro. May be heavier but still portable enough with significantly more power and range.

  • @a.nevillechamberlain7612
    @a.nevillechamberlain7612 Před 6 měsíci +2

    I wish the top end speed was 8 miles faster, 20mph is fine for just a comfortable cruising speed, but the added boost to get out of situations is a safety feature. Even if it’s for 5 seconds. The uscooter GT speed is almost perfect, but the solid tires makes it an honest speed limiter. Don’t want to go beyond 28 mph. This NIU has such great potential. A dual motor version under 50 lbs is the future iteration.

    • @108mtsan
      @108mtsan Před 5 měsíci +1

      And also the uscooters are all front wheel drive which is a total turn-off. Rear wheel drive is best.

    • @niumobility
      @niumobility Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks for your feedback here. The KQi Air series don't come with suspension. However, the KQi Air comes with 9.5*2.3in (241*58mm) pneumatic tires (tubeless tire). The pneumatic tire is popular because it absorbs the impact between the vehicle and the road, reducing the bumps and jolts. The tires are black in color and have lines, patterns, and small vent spews to prevent slipping.

      @niumobility this is a very good first product and a refreshing take on lightweight scooters, imo for it to be more versatile it definitely needs some suspension as escooters become very dangerous when hitting pot holes without suspension; the same carbon fibre frame, suspension , dual motor or above 500w s motor, under 35 lbs and it becomes a serious lightweight commuter scooter that caters to most riders. I am excited with the Air’s design ethos but I’ll probably wait for a second gen

      The KQi Air X frame is built with 100% carbon fibre. The KQi Air frame is built with 70% carbon fibre and 30% magnesium. Hence, the KQi Air and KQi Air X are only 25.6 lb (11.7 kg) and 26.2 lbs (11.9 kg) prospectively, which makes KQi Air series a great choice for teens and women to maneuver and handle.
      Note: With the excellent material, the KQi Air series ensure the real max payload can reach up to 265 lbs (120kg).

      Yes, they are. Don't buy from them. They sell carbon fiber, magnesium alloy scooters to leech from you with their brittle and fragile frames. Trust me, these frames will fail catastrophically like a carbon fiber bike and that starts from a nudge to the neck area of the scooter where the cracks will develop overtime until it will give in without warning. @@rileyhall9320
      You better off with the Segway Ninebot F2 Pro unless the Niu KQI Air makes an aluminum neck and stem version to make it more durable while only gaining 5 more pounds. Bigger wheels, more powerful motor, longer range, much cheaper. More weight but absolutely worth it for safety and longevity.

      @@niumobility Without suspension its practilly unrideable for heavyier riders, u get neck and back pains on road bumps or the easiest little, its the same with many brands. Build quality and carbon fiber makes it stand out, but without any suspension even on cheaper electric scooters its a no go go, inmotions climber is another example of a great product but no suspension at all and xiami models are the same, or else I would buy this instantly. And I see online people complain on the screen aswell, scratches - hard to see - such a great product if it wasent for minor issues that can be updated easilly.

      We also have KQi3 Max whaich is equipped with a 450 Watts brushless direct current motor and an air-cooled battery pack of 608.4 Wh (13 Ah). The motor is in the rear wheel, which is better for traction. With a maximum engine output power of 108W, the scooter can reach to 19.9 mph (32 kph) (US), travel up to 40.68 miles (65 km) and climb up to 15%. Built for practical last-mile transportation and entertainment mobility, the KQi3 Max gets you to your destination while you enjoy the moment.
      Note: Due to the stricter regulation in Europe, the scooter is limited to 15.5 mph (25 kph). And in Germany the local authority regulates that the maximum speed of electric scooters must be within 12.4 mph (20 kph).
