    I really like the set up, but I don’t see the time savings versus a soft top
    That might be because I use mine every day and live out of my truck mobile for work .
    23Zero is a great product
    I have the soft top version

      Fair enough. I’m sure after a bit of time with any equipment you find how to deploy them optimally.

    I took the matress out. Out a 4.5 self inflating matress. That way I can make it thin and keep my Teton sleeping bag and following it. Makes life easier to set up.

    Great video!!! Nice tent. Was looking at the same one Quick question. You do have a short bed Tacoma yes? I called 23zero to inquire about bed rack compatibility talked to two different people one informed me that I did not need a bed rack tall enough to clear the cab. The second time I talked to them they said I would need a bed rack tall enough to clear the cab because the tent would not have enough room. Your rack seems to be below the roof line of your truck. Any insight am I missing something ?

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před 4 měsíci

      The bed rack height depends on which version of the Armadillo you go with. The X and the A2 will fit just fine on the short bed Tacoma. The A3 is larger and will stick out over the bed if you have a 3/4 height bed rack.
      I will say that you wont be able to open the window on the cab side with the metal rods. That is the only issue I have.

    Unless you left the tent closed up during a good portion of the daylight hours, a near vertical mounting surface for the solar panels when the tent is open, would yield a poor angle for solar gain to occur.

    What is the weight on these? I cannot seem to find it on the website. I was thinking about the iKamper Skycamp Mini, at 120 lbs. If the A2 don’t weigh too much more, it seems to be a great option.

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před rokem

      Glad to hear it helped. I’m 6’ and sleep comfortably enough. I do suggest getting an inflatable mattress though. If you want more width then get the a3. That will have more side to side sleeping area but only 8” more length over the a2.

    I had a recent camping trip using a 23ZERO awning. Rained, telescoping pole bent, bent back but now very hard to use. 23ZERO does not do replacement parts. And the telescoping pole is a simple nut/bolt mount, so it would be very easy to replace just a pole. Told buy a whole new awning system. Hmmm. No replacement parts support? Not a happy camper. Have you checked if the 23ZERO tent can get replacement parts support? I’m thinking to stay away from 23ZERO due to this and find a company with replacement parts support.

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před rokem +2

      I haven’t had any experience with their awnings. I do have a local shop that has been great to work with that sells 23Zero, but as far as ordering it online I can’t say. It would be interesting to ask my local shop about replacement parts. Sorry that you have had a poor experience dealing with them.
      I know it may not help persay but I have found telescoping poles on Amazon that might work for your application. It won’t be 23Zero but at least it’s a fix. amzn.to/3TkwP9O

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před 10 měsíci +1

      They have just released the annex for the A2. Here is the link alnk.to/6mOa6fl. The rain fly does provide a bit of cover for the entry and ladder, but the ladder is still exposed. The annex will cover everything.

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před rokem +2

      There is a little bit of tucking when closing, but that comes with any RTT. As for pillows and sleeping bag... I have replaced the mattress for an inflatable and currently have a summer style sleeping bag with pillows that do fold and fit when closed.

    Must be nice to have a 4000 dollar roof top tent as your 1st one. I have wanted the armadillo x since way before they announced it. But I've been rocking my 1400 dollar tepui one for 3 years so far. These are worth the price but damn expensive.

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před rokem

      This wan't my first choice. I was looking at the OVS bushveld for around 2000. Due to some QA issues they were having we were looking for an alternative. I like the metal construction over the plastic. I agree they are expensive and I am grateful to have been in a position to afford the A2.

      @@Mumfy64 I mean I love the lst. I have their 180r awning and not only love the lst but also reallu like their build quality and trust it. Plus I technically am a influencer ambassador with an affiliate link lol but I did that because I went to them. Because ive really loved their products. I still have to buy my own stuff obviously but the x was the tent I've wanted for ages specifically because of the lst. Can I ask what made you pick the a2 over the x ? Just the difference in shell material?

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před rokem

      There are a few things I liked about the A2 over the X. I can set up the A2 faster than the X (only 2 latches vs the 4 on the X), the metal latches are more secure than the straps on the X, and yes the metal shell over the plastic.

    • @CraigG21
      @CraigG21 Před 2 měsíci

      Can install solar panel on the top of the A2 also. Cant on the X2 due to the shape of the top molding. At least not a hard panel.

    It only comes with a 2" foam sleeping pad? That seems awfully thin for the price!

    • @Mumfy64
      @Mumfy64  Před 2 lety +1

      If you compare this to the 1.6" mattress in the iKamper Skycamp Mini, the Armadillo A2 has a thicker mattress. This thickness is common across most hard shell RTTs. What is nice about the A2 is that there is space on the hinge side for bedding storage. So you can add an inflatable mattress to compensate.
