Random thrifting idea but if you wanna try to score film cameras for cheap, check out shopgoodwill.com Its like Ebay but for items that have been donated to Goodwill. Theres some serious finds and some crazy deals on there
Oof, you should have picked up the super takumar 85, 1.9 lens!! It's amazing, and second hand very expensive.
you said hometown, but where is it located man. would love to go to ur hometowns thrift shop
Bro paraffle ka naman huhu ☹️
That car was indeed a beauty. Isn’t it funny, how the old technology from the 60s, 70s and 80s is so appealing and aesthetically beautiful?
Jas Mann yes!! Modern cars, though beautiful as well just don’t stand up to classics in my opinion
Olden days people had money, so they could afford to think about design for the technology they had. Unfortunately starting with boomers they partied too hard and bankrupted everything without thinking about the future generations, So now we can only afford to stamp out the bare minimum of stuff for the tech we have now. We are too poor to decorate in pretty colours.
@@arunashamal not at all. What an iditotic statement.
Back then things were made to last for a life time. Later with cheap plastic companies started competing for lower prices and throw away culture started. It is more complex than that. But it definitely doesnt have to do with income.
i wish i had thrift stores like all the ones you went to. so cool dude.
Bro, you got me to leave my DSLR alone and start shooting film. Next thing you know, I go to a thrift shop and pick up a Nikon L35AF for $7... My first film camera! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Random but if you are ever interested, it would be awesome if you could put together certain “packages” that we viewers can buy and each package (at different prices) include a thrifted camera that was in the price range that we bought. I only suggest this because sadly I’ve never had any luck finding cameras or anything of the sort in the thrift stores around me and I’m in Austin which is pretty much known for its thrift shops. 😂
You’ll never have any luck of finding film cams in a hipster city like Austin
@@gateway833 I saw a polaroid at my local goodwill a few weeks ago but it was a spectra I think so I didn't bother picking it up because the film isn't great for those
Literally have ZERO good thrift stores with camera stuff around me lol. I do have an electro too tho 🔥 keep it up man
you have to go to thrift stores and pawn stores like in Los Angeles or Las Vegas to find lots of good stuff easy!!
yeah. people are catching on to "thrifting" so I would imagine people are going out to buy everything. that is unless it's overpriced
RustyX2010 I’m in Los Angeles have any good spots ?
@@RustyX2010 bruh I live in germany, nothing good around here generally
@@suavecito6114 Goodwill at 4575 Hollywood Blvd they always have good stuff!! The parking lot seems like it was made for Smart cars!!
Damn homie.. that 85 1.9 is worth some dough. you gonna be EATIN'
I found your channel just a few days ago and most of your videos are so awesome! I'm just starting to do film photography and some of your tip videos are really helpful! Keep up the great work! :D
KingJvpes The Kodak Medalist is much desired by collectors; I would have picked that up. The Pentax K2 is also great, if in good working order. The SMC Takumar 85 is an amazing bargain! One small point: the lens came with its "original" lens hood, because "OEM" means something made by someone else but sold by another company as its own product, so it's quite the opposite.
I just started getting into film and I'm glad that you came to my area to thrift 😊Gives me hope that I'll find some good stuff
That Pentax lens was a beauty! I have a bunch of SMC takumar lenses for my SP1000
✨Dope video as always! Great finds...I hate that thrift stores are starting to become more expensive now 😫 but I’m gone be forever thrifting regardless!
Yesss! Another thrifting episode.
Love it!❤️
I LOVE thrifting for cameras! It’s usually hit or miss, but when I do find one I usually find great stuff. I found an Olympus OM10 with a manual adapter for a pretty low price compared to eBay, as well as a couple of other quirky cameras. I’m the kind of person who finds beauty in the quirks of cameras that others don’t enjoy, like the dreamy looking effect of plastic cameras/lenses. :)
Your videos always inspire me! Keep up the awesome thrifting and photography :)
i have that pentax zx-50 and i rather like it!!! love this video, thrifting for cameras is always a fun time
Sweet finds man! That Takumar is looking pretty good! 😎👌
Found your content today and you’re already my favorite channel
You should of gotten the Nikon FM camera and I am sure you would of loved that camera. To be sure that Pentax lens is in very good condition, check the lens with a flashlight to look for dust, fungus, debris and oils on the aperture blades. Light dust should be okay since it won’t effect your photo. Close down the aperture blades and look at the metal lever on the back of the lens. Pull it with your finger and let it go to see if the aperture blades are snappy and that they are not stuck at the same time you would be able to see if their any oils on the aperture blades with the flashlight. Check your focus ring to see if it is not stuck at any focus area of the lens. Turn the aperture ring from lets say F2.8 to to maybe at maximum F22 to see if the apertures are working properly. Minor paint scuffs won’t effect the lens but yet check for dings on the lens such as the filter ring area. Peace, Flood!
im sorry but all i could think about the whole time was your pronunciation of nikon. i know its always been a U.S. thing tho don't come for me.
It is weird considering it is a Japanese word though
I’ve always pronounced it and have heard pronounced as NIGH-con.
Jesus Regalado but if it’s a Japanese brand, surely it would be pronounced Nikon unless it was spelt Naikon? Idk man, to each their own 😅😂
@@leilahucker5326 nikon themselves actually said that all regional pronunciations are correct. For example people in japan pronounce it like nee-koh and Americans say nigh-con. It truly doesn't matter since all the ways people say it still are recognizable as the Nikon brand
the Kodak Medalist for fifty bucks was a steal.....cool vid....thank you!
What size screwdriver do you use to take off the bottom panel on the Minolta X-700? I’m having trouble finding the right fit. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)
Nice finds man! I went thrifting the other day and think I found my best find yet! I found a fully functional X-700 for $4.99!! It’s really dirty so needs to be cleaned but all the speeds and apertures work and the inside is clean.
Hey King try to do long exposure/ nd filter photography with film cameras. Always wanted to try that ND/long exposure since i took photography course in college 2009, never tried it, just only with digital.
Dude, I love the riva zoom 125! Really fun small camera I can bring for every occasion
hey i just started photography a few months ago. my first and only camera is a minolta maxxum 5. i’m thinking of getting a dslr. any recommendations for an amateur?
Great content. I've watched a few of your videos but I manly subbed for your voice.
Wow, its hard to look for a film camera in where I live.. I wish it is that easy
6:36 that lens is a multicoated takumar lens, I have the same one and to this day it’s the best lens I’ve ever used, has a tonal softness to it, yet very sharp and no distortion whatsoever
Where can you buy the wooden piece you have on all your cameras shutter buttons?
that first ecothrift you stopped by is literally a block away from my job lol. I go there everyday on my lunch break.
some cool 90s cameras there bro good digging
Now that's actually a very solid haul!
Another great video. Hope to see more of these kind
I feel like you have so many more options around you when it comes to thrift stores, I'm jealous
What would you say is a reasonable price to have film developed if we are starting off? From the places I saw to develop and scan the film it costs about 20$ per 24 exposure roll. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!
How Awesome! I specially love the lens too! Now that is shopping. There are a lot of "wagwagan" here in our hometown - Baguio, Philippines but most of the stuff like cameras doesn't really work so it's sad and you can just use them as displays, oh well . . Those are great . . Another funny thing when you were looking at I think the pentax camera at one of the thirft shops, I heard women talking in Tagalog in the background and I was like what? I got distracted, sorry hahaha anyways enjoyed the video about thrifting and can't wait for you to show what those cameras are made of! Peace!
I wish the thrift stores in my area had some great finds like this!
literally found this channel looking up Sleepwalk by Johnny and Santo covers lol. Awesome to see you got your own thing going.
I'm confused, the 200 speed film which he bought does not say that its superia but he says that it is. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between superia 200 and c200?
I REALLY LIKED THE INTRO!!
sure shot supreme is a beast! love mine
where did u find that thrift store with the nikon classic? like what place 😅
Nice score with that Asahi Pentax lens!
so surprising how you find cameras at the thrift lmao!! here in orlando i can never find anything, just busted coffee machines. great vid!!
whaaaaaaat coffee machines?!?! lmao we don't have those out here!
I can never find cameras either. Just moth eaten clothes, ripped books, and faded furniture.
That Super-Takumar was a steal!
bro australian thrift / op shops are so bad compared to the ones in the US i swear
Nikolas Richard Gannon you literally can’t find anything🙄🙄🙄 and then when you decide to buy it off somewhere else they’re over 150-200++ 😩
At least you guys have thrift shops, there's none in Portugal.
For real man. These ebay prices on film cameras in Australia got me crying
PeterNB hi, I know this is 8 months too late but I managed to find a Pentax espio 80v from salvos for $30, and I seen another in salvos a week later, make sure you’re looking in their glass cases cos that’s where they keep all the goods ✌🏼😅
Hey remember in 2011 u did that cover of sleep walk... it was pretty good
I don't go too far out of my way for thrift stores unless I am going to be in the area. I literally live next door to a thrift store so I go in all the time. It is always a hit or miss. The other day I walked into a Goodwill and found a X-Rite eye-one lt for $0.99 (tested it out with DisplayCal and works just fine). The trick is to go often even the duds because they will all of the sudden have some goods. PS, also picked up a Minolta Freedom Zoom, best $10 point and shoot ever.
That store is a dream 😍
My homeroom teacher showed me some film camreas her uncle used and i personally checked them and they are dope!
dude! your contents are dope keep it up!!
**** SUBSCRIBED ****
I loved this video ! i went to my local goodwill to pick up my first film camera but they didnt have anything. so i bought a Vivitar Point and Shoot on depop. it's going to be my first film camera and I'm so excited.
ashley drakes that’s awesome!!! Welcome to the film world :)
Man I wish there were some solid thrift stores in my area. 😩 nice haul!
5:59 was that an APS camera?
Hhhhmmm, you gave me an idea where to go and I’m liking it.
I visited a village near me where I recently discovered a care home that had a charity shop next to it. Its basically a hidden gem and i dont think many know its even there. Last weekend I found a fully functional Minolta 7000 for just £10 ;)
Where did you get your Nikon f3?
Very entertaining video. The Electros 35 generally are easy to fix.
Hey y how did your pics from the Olympus TRIP MD3 come out? Just thrifted a clean one in Walnut Creek and would like to see your pics from it if you have them posted????
Tipp on ebay or anything like that they sell caneras cheaply!! just bought two waiting for them to arrive nd hopefully i can find the right film nd see if they work
Yes! Another thrift video!
so you went to the FF thrift shops and took all the cameras and equipment. Dope. Fairfield people
I love the sure shot supreme. Have you taken any pics with it?
Okay that 85 is absolutely the steal deal this time!
Black electro 35’s are rare yes?
What were the names of the stores you went to in Sacramento?
What is a thrift shop?? Sorry if I sound dum but I never been there before and stuff 😅
I thought you bought the Bessa to only have a few cameras hahaha. Keep up the awesome videos
You alway's SCORE! Of course, I would never sell a excellent find like that Jonathan but that's just me. :)
Can't wait to shoot portra 400, I just got it !! Minolta gang for life
Pleasant Hill lol i live there and yeah we don’t got any type of film or cameras @ thrift shops bro i tried
That black Electro 35 is a nice camera!
I just got the sureshot supreme at a thrift store for about the same price. I got it just because you found one as well.
Don’t sleep on that canon sureshot supreme bro! It goes in
Hey man! Did you pass on that sweet Pentax K2 (my shooter)? Was the iso ring frozen? That is a MAJOR problem with them. Mine is stuck at 400... I am cool with that. Shooting HP5 Plus :)
I just left that eco in sacramento! How crazy
*The 1st shop is always a bust!* But once you find one, there will be plenty more coming soon. Those thrift shops seem pretty darn expensive. It's disappointing when you can just find it one eBay for cheaper, even with shipping...
I hope thrift shop like that existed in my country
Enjoyed. More please.
Hi! How do you know the camera will work (as it is second hand)? A person was selling a bunch of film cameras in a box, but they looked kinda old and the man didn’t really take care of the cameras so... HELP! Any tips?
Check if the shutter is working.
Someone in your background in that 1st store where u found a camera is speaking in filipino hahaha.. I can hear the lady talking in our language. Amazing 😁
Lmao went to the exact same ecothrift a few days ago and found that same Pentax k1000. Walked out with an Olympus 35rc though.
I went to a thrift store today, inspired. There was not one thing photography related there! I'll keep trying.
Where are these Thrift Shops?
Hey, I thought you kicked that habit!!? That black Electro 35 was gorgeous! I like that 85mm lens too, let's see what you can do with it!
my eyes and head hurta due to rhe alow focus?! i kept watching because the content was really good and interating
how long can you keep the film inside the camera?i have't get to shoot for about a week now and my camera is still loaded..thanks!
As long as the film doesn't sit in there for years, in which case it will expire, you're good.
thanks!
where did you find all those beauties? I live in Berkeley!
That yashica has a stellar rated lens
You missed out on the Minolta AF10. It's a clone of the Leica mini
Okayyy im just gonna ask but would you sell some of your point and shoot good finds from the thrift store? Maybe the ones you don't use 🧐 Cause it's suuuuuperr super hard to look for good and affordable cameras where I live since we don't have thrift stores like the U.S 😅
I'm Going to need that 85mm for my Pentax Spotmatic good sir. It will match my 50mm f1.4 spectacularly :D
2:25 VW Variant karavan? I was almost born in that car...
14:30 I was waiting patiently to see did you bought it or not 😁 Course it's a great lens - I recently missed one on a local craigslist 😢
Please check it for radioactivity - looks yelouish...
Cool video! Thanks.
they all look so good how tf do you even find these?!?!?
u forgot one good thing we all need for all of this stuff.. a side bag or sling bag. this thing comes in handy for your camera to put away, the film rolls, your wallet your phone or your keys also in the bag and obviously all the good stuff that comes with being a film photographer
Very nice lens 👍 guess the R2 Bessa, didn't sort the one camera itch 😂 but duuuuude.... you passed up the best camera there the Nikon FM?? Was it a daft price?
Richard Rollinson - My Analog Life haha!! And yea they were asking $125 for it
$125 seems like a fair price for a Nikon FM and 50mm lens if it’s in decent working condition. Am I being daft?
I've got that car! Volkswagen Type III Squareback. Mine is a bright orange '71 that my Dad bought new off the line.
I picked up a Yashica t4 for 2$ at a goodwill in perfect condition... also just got a yashica-mat for 40$...
