- Today we go Film camera thrifting for three days trying to find any Point n Shoots, SLR’s or even rangefinders in the thrift store! This haul was one of the craziest in a long time. With thrift stores being hit or miss we finally found some 35mm film cameras worth while!

He completely slept on the two late 90’s early 2000’s slrs. The ones with silver paint plastic. Those are sleeper cameras waiting for the hype train. They’re gonna be fantastic p&s alternatives, once the trendy p&s supply dries up or they all break. By the late 90’s early 2000’s, film camera technology was at it’s peak. Cameras had great metering and af, and could work well in auto mode. The great thing about the slrs, is you can get good lenses(prime) and then you have a really good p&s. I thrifted a Minolta HTsi plus, and the thing is so small and light with a prime lens. It was made for auto shooting but has manual capability, has DX coding that can be overridden, spot meter and af back button, and ev compensation and 1/4000 ss. If anyone ever comes across any of these 2000’s slrs at a bargain, snag them because eventually they’ll be desirable.
True don’t even need an expensive prime either but thrift stores try to sell those for more cuz they look like normal cameras I’ve seen them priced at like 50$ which is almost eBay price
I snagged a Nikon N65 film slr on Craigslist for $25. The camera is a beast!
@@JoseFuentes-dt4mv exactly! You want to get them at a deal like that. A lot of people don’t want them because they’re ugly and unfashionable, but they’re great for fun shooting and will give better results than overpriced Mju/Epic II.
@@JoseFuentes-dt4mv Ayyy, N65 gang! I got mine at a thrift store while I was on vacation last month; $30 camera and three lenses! Even had good batteries with it and an expired roll of Tri-X. Still gotta get the test roll developed, but that thing was a joy to shoot, so here's hoping it works fine!
Agreed, they might not have the 'vintage' appeal that most newcomers to film want but they are often better/sharper than some premium camera's.
I found two Olympus OM-1N bodies 30 BUCKS EACH!! Talk about a steal!!. I usually find OM-1 bodies going for a 100 bucks on eBay!
Just got into and fell in love with shooting film after watching a bunch of your videos! Can’t believe I never tried it before! It’s so much more rewarding haha! Keep up the great content😊
Love your videos. Definitely went thrifting and found a minolta and now im hooked
film camera thrift videos give me life, great finds!
Love all your content. The thrift episodes are the most fun to me. Solid channel bro. 👍
Great video, as always! Also, very interested in the video about the digital point and shoot
I live in DC and will hit up multiple thrift shops on a weekly basis, and never find anything. So jelly man! Love your thrift videos.
Video of the digital canon, A video too with a comparison between the two nikons 35, and like that you keep one. And i still waiting for the video of the Nikon n80 that you bought one time. Happy new year.😀
some of those old point and shoot canons use CCD sensors, which lend a more filmic look. I have a 2002 PowerShot G3 and it takes really interesting looking photos.
This makes me extra extra sad my country is in lockdown, I have 2 weeks off from school and was planning to visit so many thrift stores looking for new analog camera's, this made me kinda feel like I went thrifting! Nice finds!
In Japan digicams are pretty big in the niche sorta way
I need to hang out with you to pick up some of them film cameras
Just a few days ago I acquired a Nikon L35TW AF camera with 38 and 65 mm lens prime lenses, and everything auto (Autofocus, Auto exposure, Auto ISO [DX code only], …). Photographed a roll of HP5+ on it, and have to develop the film, to see if the camera works.
The thrift God’s definitely blessed you with this one. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love your thrifts finds! Gotta keep posting more :)
I actually have that Nikon Nice Touch Zoom! Still have to shoot with it yet but it's encouraging to see it in another's hands. Just to note since mine came with the manual and case: It uses DX codes and only does 100/400 ISO film. No DX code? Defaults to 100 ISO. Just an FYI!
I’m hooked. I really want to learn more about old film cameras, did you like take a class orrr just self taught
Smacking the hell out inanimate objects is a good strategy. It also works with people, but it should be avoided with children. Also, pick up a can of contact spray and some Q-Tips. Sometimes contacts will have a bit of dust or grime on them.
Great video! I literally found an older Canon digital elph today for $4.98. It had a battery but no charger. Finger-crossed it works. (It has a viewfinder & a ccd sensor.)
More of exactly this bro! Love the thrift. No thrift shops here in Hawaii
If on Oahu check out Savers on Dillingham Blvd got some decent film stuff.
I’m not sure if it’s always like this but I have a Minolta p&s that takes those same batteries but you can actually use 4 triple a’s in place instead and it works perfectly
I also have a 28mm film point & shoot camera that can zoom up to 70mm. It's the Minolta Capios 25 😄
damn great finds!! hopefully i’ll get that lucky one of these days
Would love to see a video about the Canon with 28+48mm!
My dude, looking GOOD out there!
The only digital point and shoots are great for parties with the flash just give a green tint with some grain and it’s a disposable point and shoot with 5x as many shots with the smallest sd card
I love how they always restock in that first store just for couple days like damn.
Hi! Could you do a review of 110 films? Or the pros & cons of it? Currently using the baby diana 110 😁.
My thrift stores suuuuuck never found ANY film camera
Oh man dude! I’ve been looking by for a L35AF. I absolutely love the look of it but eBay has them for more than I want to pay. So I’ve been looking a thrifts with no luck on any sort of cameras. But maybe one day I’ll get lucky 😂. Congrats tho that’s one hell of a haul.
i have 15 of those. i will post some on ebay soon
I think I hit that same eco thrift and never have luck, guess you swooping in there finding the treasures 😜
do you have any experience with the Minolta XG1? Is it an good analog camera to start with? thanks a lot already
I've been waiting for this
Wow, on the vid in under a minute, without a notification... and now I'm G.A.S.ing
Thrifting vids are addicting to watch.
Trying to put out some infos about 16:05.
The Canon Shure Shot (aka Canon Prima Twin in the EU) is my To-Go camera for parties/events because of the wide angle lens.
Thing is - there is no flash control. Cant turn it off or on. But I do not mind since I WANT the lens for its nice flash output.
Since the F.stop of both the lenses (28mm 4.0 and 48mm 6.5) are not that wide open, so the flash works "harder". the overall images overeall sharp and very well lit when used flash. There is actually just very less "fall-off" of the Flash in the corners. DX-Code goes from 50-1600. But really, I love using Gold 200.
On the Bottom, you find a little "foot" you can fold out so it tilts upwards when you wanna use the selftimer - Neat feature if you shoot while traveling.
What else to say? There is actually a younger Brother of this Camera - Prima Twin S - but it lacks the 28mm. So thats why I prefer the older modell.
Enjoy the little brick :)
Much love!.
dude that's wild, i just ordered a canon powershot s300 for dirt cheap on ebay today
can't help but feel jealous for the bargains you guys find in the US...
Those point and shoots with the two prime lenses are great. I've got an Olympus AFL-T which essentially does the same thing with the moving almost 'magnifying glass' piece enabling you to choose between 35mm and 60mm focal lengths. would love to hear what you think of the Canon Sureshot that you picked up.
honestly i have 3 different sure shots and all are great with color film and exceptional with any black and white, really great little ugly cameras for a BARGAIN
You're seriously lucky, in my area the thrift shops are putting any and all camera on eBay because of videos like this
I have a Canon shot it's pretty sweet. Not the sharpest though. Would love to see a video about it!
Bought an Olympus AF-1/Infinity it was 25 bucks so i could always sell it for parts i smacked it and it seems to work now hopefully going to shoot a test roll
Is the first store in the Bay Area? Looks like an amazing place full of gold finds!
why did you skip that canon eos rebel (something something) camera ?
What kind of thrift stores do you have that are the size of supermarkets?
please do a video with this 6mpx canon shooting
Pentax Q-S1 Mirrorless Digital Camera White With 5-15mm Lens
Pentax Q10
Pentax mx-1
Out of these which one you think is fun and compact as it's mostly a hobby just want an expert advice
I had that Kodak instamatic in the box I threw it away accidentally a few years ago :(
Try finding the water-proof version of the Nikon L35AF. L35AWD.
What thrift stores are you going to in the bay area?? I've been struggling to find any here in the East Bay
Anyone else stuck at home with Covid binge watching all this mans videos🤒😅
You had me with the Burger King initials 😂
Good shit man
I've thrifted some nice little gems over the last 2 years. But it seems as of lately I can't find I dang thing. That's CT for ya!
CT?
why didn't you buy the long lens ??
Yo are you from Vallejo bro? I swear this is eco thrift. Shouts out if you are, I’m from the V too. Keep up the good work 💪🏽
I can't belive you use a single-use plastic cup for your coffee every morning
Bro I can’t believe this I got this at my thrift store near by for 3 bucks !
would you care to share your coffee recipe? ratio coffee to water , ice and such
More than anything, you need a Smena 8.
You're gonna give away one of the L35s to one of us commenters, right? ;-)
Have you ever considered selling these finds? Im looking for a good point and shoot but i just dont live in an area with good thrift stores
depot has so many good film cameras for sale.
Side by side... Nikon Challenge!
Where are those thrift shops????
nice!
Woooowww. The thrift stores in my area are trash 😭
man just went to all the thrift stores in my area im not getting shit this week
Battery is more expensive than the camera! Hahahahaha! Kind of like my car and a full tank of gas!
All the thrift stores around here have zero cameras.
nikon l35 is just my dream camera but i cant buy it
Just something to note the original
L35AF has a 5 element Sonnar lens and the one you have has a 4 element lens still good but not the same.
What's the farthest distance you've gone thrifting?
I buy my cr-p2 batteries from Amazon and they’re $8
Me not making a detour on the way home from work to look for cameras…
I also live in the bay area, can you tell us which thrift shops you went to for this video?
Why would he want all that competition lol
The thrift stores on the east coast are really garbage compared to the ones on the west coast 😭
If you are here in the Philippines, I can offer you best cameras at your budget. We have a lot,
Thee
I got a good condition X700 from Ebay in Germany and bought some Films, but I am afraid to take my first Film Photo. 😅😅😅
Don't be afraid it's a great camera!
Bruh I’m no environmentalist but using disposable cups at home seems extremely wasteful for no reason lmao.
All of these cameras are from the past and all suffer from malfunctions due to storage or damage. Even the cameras that are not on ebay all suffer from problems with excessive light in pictures and fog, and there are not even repair shops or spare parts. It has become from the past. These cameras are useful only for antiques
Considering film prices these days - why would you ever shoot with a 4$ Zoom Point and Shoot? I mean.. that‘s like throwing a Wagyu Steak into a microwave.
I´m thinking to unsubscribe to your channel just because the crocs 🤢
No one asked 😂
