The way I look at it as a F2P player is that this game is for the long run. I know I will be in the bottom part of server/progression, but in due time, those arena tokens and other resources are still technically free. It's just that it will take much longer for you to acquire those things. A F2P account may even look similar to a low/mid spender if they are consistent every day. Patience is the key. Yes, it sucks that the better rewards and ranks, etc are locked behind the proverbial paywall, but depending on how you manage your team and resources, it's technically possible to get mid gains from preparation in the future. Waiting to get 9 or 10 copies of Odie just so he can get past legendary+ is annoying as hell for me, but I know that it will happen eventually, just not as fast as all those content creators out there lol.

@@japan100100 I think you're right but that's what I advocate against. Why make that a pain? Why make that so miserable people quit? It's not like having a mythic plus/supreme odie will ruin paid players from being on top. Constantly devs have released walls in progression for paid players to shrink the gap between players, but all it does is slow progress for everyone BUT whales. Yes, F2P has a chance, but you have to sacrifice so much that the juice becomes not worth the squeeze. For example, the tradeoff of stellar Crystal's in the arena store you have people going"at least they gave us 2 stargazing tokens (when in reality it's 2 stargazing tokens at the cost of ascending your S-level heroes).

Okay, i have seen 3 of your video's now and from my perspective you have a couple of good points, but you are missing some points as well. The point you make of already investing in a character before knowing the meta and not being able to go to "your way" easily is flawed from my point of view but fair and valid. Also from what the limited things i have seen in your earlier video's you did not start playing for the meta or did not play "optimally" from the start.
This game is made to be competetive, everything from the dream realm, to the crystal clash event screams competition, so it is not weird to punish mistakes if others are not making those same mistakes. I am a low spender in the number 2 guild on my server and i am a vice leader who makes the guides for the guild members for all dream realm bosses (+ variants for how far along you are in the game) and other game modes. I do not perform as well as others, but due to me playing as optimally as possible i have always been in the top 200 and CAN keep up with them. I had luck with my odie pulls but i had him, marilee, korin, arden, smokey, shakir, Carolina, Eironn, vala, koko and damian as my core units. They have not left my wish list and due to dedicating to them i have most at M+ or surpreme+ now due to placements atm. (my server is a bit further along then yours). With limited resources planning these things out if you want to compete is necesarry and otherwise you just cannnot compete and should not try because it is impossible. If people do not like that then this is not the game for them, not because i do not want them here, but because this game is build around that mentality and if you do not like it then it is better to find something that you will like.
The clickbait title AFK journey community hates non-casuals is a bit cringey but i understand why you do i go get your bag my guy :). But i do think it is not that people hate non casuals, it is just that due to the competition casuals are a liability for guilds and complainging does not fix anything, like you said with the marilee debacle, those guys were whining because their investments did not pay out well. To those guys i say fuck off, you gamble in this game and meta shifts happen refunding shit is idiotic.
The rest of your points i can kind of agree with and i leave now with 3 pieces of advice, 1 research all units and keep some resources in the bank for if a better unit comes out when you have your core units build. The second is commit to units if you are a low spender if you have started, like with your reinier it is better to finish him since he is a really good unit for arena, pushing and dream realm. third commit to a game mode, i committed to dream realm and a bit to pushing afk stages with odie and 1 brutus, which helped me a bunch against whales who fell behind me due to splitting all their resources between arena, dream realm and pushing and each having a different team.
Your perspective is valid, but as i said from my point of view you are seeing the game as what you would like to see, but that is different from what the intention for the game is. That is why people are reacting like that to you, and some people are just assholes who do it in a toxic way. Anways, sorry for the essay and have a nice evening with your family, that should always be the priority not the toxic cesspool that is the internet :P.

@@Dragnhild I think what you're saying is mostly fair, and I'll give it the time of day and react to it cause i think you bring up valid points.

@@Dragnhild so I don't have an issue with characters being a meta, just the speed at which the game demands it in order to participate in and receive rewards. Artificial barriers exist that purposefully put a barrier between the player and meaningful rewards, wherein spending becomes an almost necessity. This, I'll agree, is the nature of the game.
As for the intent of the game, of course it is to spend but I would argue that the game both wants and needs Casuals, both for player retention, and for whales and mid/low spenders to teabag inevitably. Otherwise its payer vs. Payer where the highest tax bracket wins and those who cant spend more or keep up, quit. This has been negatively affecting the games financial success by leaning into casual unfriendly behaviors that reward only high level players.
What am I advocating for? Well simply for the game to not be so anti-fun. Even dark souls is competitive but I dont want to be in competition with a speedrunner, but to be somewhere beyond struggling to just enjoy the game and complete content. I want the lore the game started out with and dropped, I want interesting and fun game modes that bring life to the game. I could give less of a shit if I rank.
The game has foundations and glimpses of the experiences I'm talking about, but it seems to leave them for long term spending tactics instead, which is robbing the player base in my opinion.
The biggest failure of myself is that time sunk and content creation has kept me here longer than most. I want to improve things for the game, but I have to get a little higher on the ladder to do that. If that happens, I guarantee I could make some insane content for the game.
