Hi everyone, I thought I'd make a video today talking you through my portfolio I submitted for applying to architecture and landscape courses at uni, hope it's helpful!

Hi everyone, I stopped studying architecture about 3 months in (there's a whole separate video about that on my channel) and please bare in mind I made this video 3 years ago! Please can I ask that you stop emailing/messaging me asking for portfolio advice etc. If you have any queries the best people to ask are the course leaders you are directly applying to. I've been trying to find out what i needed to put in my portfolio cause I did not take a level art and it stressed me a lot. But now this video calmed me down so much and I finally have ideas on how I can show my personality to them, thanks

oh man that was so helpful. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the whole process right now and seeing how simple but elegant you put together your portfolio makes it seem way more accessable
good luck with your studies :) We didn't have to send something like this. I've finished my studies and got my own practice now (I'm 30). Sometimes I work as professor Assistant and I can tell you when we get portfolios probably the logo design you did is the most interesting. You should focus mostly on things that show your creativity, as skill can be learned and most know it anyway. So advice to all the young ones: Show only your best work,. show creative stuff that interests you. Professors and unis wanna see inovation and creativity, not what everyone has done before. sending in your minecraft and SIMS houses is actually a good idea!

This is so incredibly helpful! I'm applying for graphic design and am currently collating my protfolio, and all the videos I've found about it have just stressed me out. I love that 'my street' piece, and it's given me some inspiration on what sort of stuff to include, although we're obviously applying for different courses! Congratulations on all your offers!
and this might be a bit of a strange question, but do you by any chance know the name of the font you used for the titles? I really like it!

This really just saved my life. Im applying to Pratt University & I plan on majoring in architecture, they asked me to submit a portfolio but didnt explain to much on what it should include. Thank you so much & congratulations on your progress.
This is a really helpful video thank you a lot! I've started on my portfolio to send off and I just needed tips on how to do this. I am actually applying for Architecture at Lincoln so this is really useful
My biggest take away from your video was your places that inspired you page. Designing your portfolio, immediately people know to start gathering all their previous artwork but I didn't even think to add something like that, which you have. Great thinking outside the box idea. I'm definitely going to use that for my portfolio.

I like that your portfolio was fairly simple. A lot of the examples I see are too wordy for my taste.

I've just applied to my unis and Sheffield still had the exact same "my street". Gonna be gone it's one of my least favourite pieces I've ever made but I've got a conditional and looking around next week

This video was extremely helpful. Basing on it, and some other ideas I was able to create quite a successful portfolio. It got me an unconditional offer in spite of that I didn't meet some other requirements, like my extended maths grade or one low IELTS component in writing (5.0). Here are universities I've applied onto (all K100 Architecture):
Newcastle University (firm, unconditional)
De Montfort University (insurance, unconditional)
Coventry University (conditional, declined by me)
University of Plymouth (conditional, declined by me)
University of Strathclyde (unsuccessful, applied by UCAS Extra - no vacancies left)

So in these portfolios, you can submit any kind of art piece? Like if you have some old pieces of art you made, you can just put them together in the portfolio to basically give a resemblence on how your creative thinking work?
When you had your interview
/portfolio audition, what did you show them, did take your laptop with you and show them or on a usb stick?

All of my best work were physical and they were lost in storage 😭. I’m gonna have to remake a lot of stuff

Did you use photoshop to create your portfolio? I need to create a hard copy architecture portfolio and am currently working with photoshop. I’m assuming I can print it all out later... also I’m struggling with scanning some artwork like painting or color work and to have it show with full color on photoshop(it only comes in black and white)
So a Sims based portfolio, would'nt look bad on me? I'm also into fashion, and have a few images of some bold outfits I put together. Do you think those would be good additions into my creative portfolio?

And unfortunately I have not scored very well in my 11 grade. I really wanna get into UBC. So what do u think , I would get it or no?
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on the impact of not doing a design course at a level when applying for architecture at unis such as bath , I am currently battling with my college to get me onto a level graphics course but it being so late it has become a problem ! Is it worth going into all this trouble?
