      100% agree. Personally the 10th gen SI design was a dealbreaker for me. As a mid 30s professional, it was far too "boy racer." 11th gen is a winner. I only wish the US version SI was based on the touring trim like in Canada, with heated seats/steering wheel, wireless CarPlay/charging, auto dimming mirror, and the SHIFT lights..so cool.

    Regarding the looks of the new civic. Looks are subjective and I personally like it. It’s more conservative that I like. I thought the last gen was way over styled. The only thing I don’t like is the overhang of the “upper bumper” as you call it in the video.

    Soooo, since most places you drive are a mix of smooth, good pavement and bumpy, fractured crappy pavement, this car, as a commuter, is overall WORSE than the 10th Gen. I don't know if I would want one of these. The 10th Gen had a great, stiff chassis, and a ride quality that was actually pretty pleasant most of the time. The ride quality was not one of the things that I complained about when I owned that car. What was, was the lack of torque in first and second gear, and the increase in stupid piped in engine noise in second gear in sport mode. Not bad around town, but on a twisty mountain road, the fake engine noise was so bad on second gear curves, that after awhile, I much preferred normal mode over sport. The ride was more compliant, it handled just as well, and you got rid of a lot of the noise. Did Honda make the current 11th gen ride quality too stiff? Let me know.

    For some odd reason, the Canadian Si gets a lot more content standard (and is more expensive too, even in USD). Keep in mind if you go for the summer tire option ("Only $ 200") that if you live in a cold climate and want to drive year around, summer tires are not recommended for near freezing and below temperatures. (Some suggest switching over to all-season tires when you get below the mid-40's.) So, if you need a second set of wheels and tires, this "only $ 200" upgrade to summer tires from the factory, could necessitate you spend another $1200-1600 for winter wheels and tires. (I' had to do this for my BRZ. Bought some Sparco wheels and Blizzaks.) If you want the extra slice of performance from the summer tires, go for it. But just beware that you may have to spring for a winter set. Better to understand that before you check the "summer tires" option box. BTW, I had an '02 Si (yeah, the one everyone hates, but due to its unpopularity, I got it in early '03, new, off the lot, for 14,999!), and with Blizzaks it was really good in snow. Only issue I had was on a slow approach steep driveway with about 8" of snow. Other than that, it was like a mule. Happy shopping and driving!

    I'm conflicted... I've seen videos saying this is one of the best cars to learn to drive stick on... also that the Si seats are very comfortable. This video says the opposite on both. Guess I'll eventually get to decide for myself.

    • @TestDriveVideos
      @TestDriveVideos  Před 2 lety

      The new SI would be a great car to learn stick on, as the transmission is excellent. But many of the cars that are easiest to learn on actually have softer and less rewarding transmissions that accept mistakes. In the long run you’d be happier in the SI. And seats are totally personal. We hope you get to drive one. Thanks for watching!

    The 10th gen was a bit of a disappointment to me. It completed the task of a capable, affordable, and comfortable commuter car pretty well. But it really lacked a soul. Hope they made the 11th gen better in that department

    Ergonomics wise how does this Si compare to the 2021+ TLX? Considering selling my TLX as it's too mature [for me] and the headroom for the driver is not enough.
