Man, Chris Thile's a real bro to improvise that entire solo to help distract the crowd from Marcus saying "Kransas City."
I Can't Stop Laughing At "Kransas City"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like Chris’s name was on his mind and saying Kr- came out cause of it. “Gives it character” they might say 😀
Marcus worked extensively on " the lost tapes" Columbia album. A project manager who was involved indicated that Marcus was without sleep for two days to meet a deadline to write the music & combine Dylan's lyrics to create this song. Shortly after meeting the deadline the other musicians provided great musical accompanyment that clearly made this one of the best songs on that album of work.
Such great dedication and paid off so well! Thanks for the info :)
The audience's delayed reaction to Chris's mandolin solo was priceless
Had to do a double take on that
Hahaha, everyone was in awe
even some of the most seasoned string players of all time do not know what to do with that solo. its a whole experience
The man can play
Thile's ability to harmonize with anyone on on anything is vastly underrated, if not missed totally.
Chris Thile killing it with that solo~
He's fucking amazing !
2:08 elevated the song for me to a whole new level I never thought was possible!
Holy shit that mandolin solo was absolutely perfect
2:08 elevated the song for me to a whole new level I never thought was possible!
One day, roughly a year ago, I listened to this song on a drive to my favourite place in the world. The thought of that place alone triggers an overwhelming feeling of serenity. Scratch that, serene is not enough to describe it, it is completely ineffable. That feeling stuck to this song, and now every time I hear it, there is no better feeling in the world. This song means the world to me.
Trabinjin this song beats my heart like a drum
That's beautiful.
Chris killed that mandolin solo. Dude’s got talent
God... I love this song. the harmony... the lyrics... the feel... THIS is what music is about. This is where I put my FAITH
2:08 for a melt your face mandolin solo
TamagoTamago SO underrated
Lovely - had a chuckle when Marcus was about to introduce Chris and sang 'going back to Cransas city' ! . ..
I LOVE Chris thile oh my GOD he’s so good. This just adds so much more to my love of his art
"Kransas City." - Marcus Mumford, 3rd of December, 2016
My theory: promoting his new line of cranberry sauce in time for the holiday rush.
Clearly he was thinking of when he was going to say "Mr. Chris Thile everybody" and got the "Cr" sound mixed up in it all. There is a similarity in the sound between city and Thile as well.
Benj. Evans you must be fun at parties
Harley T. Johnson when you’re so British you say Kransas
I didn't really look at Marcus Mumford as a great artist until i saw the basment tapes and the amazing jam session he did with old crow medicine show version " of this train is bound for glory"
Love Marcus Mumfords' voice!
I always wonder if Marcus needs a mic. He's got some serious volume and does not break. Just a blessed singer.
Have you seen the video of M&S singing under the “L” in Chicago? He definitely doesn’t need a mic! 🥰
Marcus & Chris.....Two Aces for sure.
Priceless. I love this version so much. The mandolin really adds to the song. The mandolin solo is amazing and Mumford's delicious voice comes through strong. How does this have so few views?
jude law is a suprisingly good mandolin player.
This is Chris Thile, not Jude Law. I miss Garrison Keillor as host of PHC. Chris is a great musician, but not as good a story teller or host.
it's a joke.
I have to agree. Chris brings in a different personality and feel to the show, but he tries his best to make up for it with some decent bits. gonna miss mom' skits forsure. and garrison was way better at voicing 'cowboy era stories'
He's lacking strong diction (wordchoice/vocabulary) for sure.
It is actually a brilliant move! Chris Thile is actually one of the most charismatic musicians in the World, and this show needed to enter the XXI century and leave the old "cowboy stories' era".
I'm from Kansas City and it was epic when they played this song! They are truly amazing artist!!
Such a simple, great song. Means even more being from KC. Could listen to this song a thousand times over and not get tired of it.
I listen to you time and time again
While you tell me just what’s right
And you tell me a thousand things a day
Then sleep somewhere’s else at night
I’m going back to Kansas City
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
I’m going back to Kansas City
And you call me to come, then I do
And you say you made some mistake
You invite me into your house
Then you say you gotta pay for what you break
I’m going back to Kansas City
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
And I love you dear, but just how long
And I keep singing the same old song
I’m going back to Kansas City
Gypsy woman, you know every place I go
Even a thousand miles away from home
You don’t care if I’m asleep or I’m awake
This fickle heart just turn to stone
I’m going back to Kansas City
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
I’m going back to Kansas City
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
And I love you dear, but just how long
Can I keep singing the same old song
I’m going back to Kansas City
This song is Magic. So Brilliant!!
this episode though made me appreciate chris as the new host a bit more. his guests are always good. he had trey on the other week
my soul just loves this spin............
Chris Thile may be God
If ever Chris should meet God, I believe God will ask him for mandolin lessons.
hope not :O
Marcus at 2:00 you said kransas city hahah lol oops *director voice* ROLL THE BLOOPER REAL
Tremendous song!
Einfach wunderbar danke.
hoeren viele Deutsche diese Art von musik?
Desde Colombia un saludo.
Me encanta este grupo....
I'm here from one love Manchester.
ah when Marcus sang Timshel there it was so good!
I love this man
you can just tell its a Dylan song, such a great tune
Think its Dylan's lyrics and others are responsible for putting those lyrics to music to make this song
lovin' this more n more everytime i listen to it
Chris Thile's solo is a lot better than Jim James' on the record.
Thanks a bunch. :)
Goin' back to 'kransas cityy'
You know I love you, dear?
When you’re thinking Here’s Chris Thile, easy to say Chransis
Wonderful, and second voice is marvellous!
I was jamming on this song as loud as the speakers would go at 3am last night. My neighbors called the cops. The cops arrested my neighbor.
I love them pouring out humanity. While they discourage life.
And I love you dear but just how long can I keep singin the same old I'm going back to Kransas city
Kc!
really good stuff
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really do wonder what Bob Dylan saw in Kansas City. I have lived there my whole life and I have no clue as to why someone of his fame would desire to reside here.
And yet your still there.
Travis I've lived on the Kansas side of Kansas City for the last 34 years and I agree with you but when you're settled down and raise a family it happens
Bob Dylan doesn't and did not reside here it's just a song as far as I know
Travis Gardner he probably envisioned Johnson County Kansas
I moved from Kansas City to Los Angeles, and I could see why someone would love it. Maybe not being there adds a layer of romance to the place. Though, I was a pretty big K.C. homer even when I lived there. I love coming back!
Lovely addition of mandolin to an already spectacular, mind-bending song. Win! Chris Thile has always been incredible. His bands are always hand-picked musical virtuosos - the ones that can keep up with him. Still, I don't think he can fill those shoes...
winnipeg folk fest 2021 PLEASE
How about the backup singing by Maria from Sesame Street?
J/K I adore Gabby Moreno. Look up her "La Malaguena"
★★★ Lyrics by BOB DYLAN. ★★★ Music and killing performance by MARCUS MUMFORD!!
wow
Where's Johnny Depp???
decent vid... Thanks heaps for sharing. :D
You could sing for this suoerfan forever! You're welcome here anytime🦋🦉
"Goin back to Kransas City"
😂
Marcus Mumfy 😂🤣
💋
Oops Marcus said Kransis City....lol But I do love him!
where is the violin? that's what i want to know
I really like this guys voice, but something is missing on this live performance, seems forced, but I do love this song, like alot.
Kransas city??????
How Fucking Goood
This is the best thing I ever heard . You guys are so hot
This video... it helped me. More than once.
Even though it might make me weep.
Where the fuck! is this show NOW???????? please
“Crayonsus city”
Anybody actually from Kansas City?
Yes, indeed.
I'm from kransas city
I'm here now what would you like to know
Yep. I don't live there now, and someone was playing it at work today...so here I am.
Marcus, I can give you superpower s with just one word... But you can't just say this word you need to digest this word and make it apart of you... Faith: makes you see the unseen, believe in the impossible, and trust in the unknown... Faith gives you super powers!
All else is at best a gamblers bet on HOPE and despair.
mandiin was a lil crazy
Out of sync.
still can't get these guys. All are clearly talented musicians, but I think Marcus needs a therapist and maybe some antidepressants. otherwise, I don't get the appeal at all.
Give Marcus Mumford a real good group of musicians and an acoustic guitar, and I promise great music is made. Give him an electric guitar and a group of idiots, and he makes total crud. I wish Mr. Mumford created a band like this, not whatever Mumford and Sons has become.
Andrew Lazar i disagree with you so much
Oof, someone's bitter that they decided to branch out, try new styles, explore a little. God, must be so much fun sticking to one style of music for the rest of a life, because some mediocre troll on the internet thinks their new music is "total crud."
Way off base there
