You can add steam to your profile then default the home screen to your profile I.e when you switch machine on it goes straight to the profile with your saved drinks as opposed to he home screen of all default drinks. Game changer!
Video production out of this world.
Thanks Sandra 🙂
WOW! That's an awesome machine, & what an intro! 😍
Great video! Do you know if Gaggia has since come out with the drip tray extension you mentioned? I can’t find it on the Gaggia site. Thanks
The fact that it grinds and pulls twice for double shot is the sole reason why this is the best machine. Not to mention the build quality and touch control.
It is a great machine :-)
Hi Kev!
I have a sort of weird question. Do the brew units/infusers in superautomaticts act more like a pressurised or unpressurised potrafilter?
Thanks!
Hey, any idea what the tempture of an espresso comes out, we had other machines which have only been 60 degrees.
Cracking review
Thanks 🙂
Does it really say welcome coffee kev and please enjoy?
can the drinks made with single espresso be customized so the espresso is 1:2 ratio? Or is the minimum for all these drinks 30ml of coffee?
The answer to the question of the meaning of life the universe and everything is 42, but then you knew that.
another top vid ta kev
Thanks Matthew :-)
@@Coffee_Kev Bit pricey though innit, think you could get a niche and dual boiler for that price
Yeah it's not cheap, it's not aimed at the home barista market though. To be fair it's not the most expensive high end bean to cup machine.
@@Coffee_Kev I could imagine it in some chebols house in a K-Drama, conspiciously used at least twice an episode lol
😆
Fantastic intro…
Thanks 🙂
@@Coffee_Kev The water drop sound effect ending to the intro is beautiful.
@@innerlocus haha, yeah love that! 😆😆, I can't take credit, that's Oli & Wes, they're the talented ones, I just make the coffee 🤫
I have had my machine since March 2023 and I love it. But my only complaint is the tray in the puck area, the tray should be able to have a greater capacity for capturing water. The Babila was my prior to machine and love that but thought it was time to do an update. Gaggia needs to get owners involved with R&D and or engineering to make fixes like this issue of the tray. This overall is really good overview for this amazing bean to cup machine.
Thanks 🙂, yeah I agree, the drip tray situation isn't great. Check this out though from Gaggia Direct: bit.ly/3Cnathu
@@Coffee_Kev Hey thanks for sharing, I think I will buy that if that will help.
Shame they didn't make that red stripe change colour to match the selected profile so you can see at a glance.
ooh, there's an idea!!
So, does it use the same brewing unit as other Gaggia supers? Also, my Magenta's grinder is so limited. How's the Accademia? I programmed my Espresso to get closer to a Ristretto (my machine doesn't have a Ristretto setting) but the pour is shockingly short. Is this true of the Accademia too? I don't know how you can avoid under-extraction with such short shot times.
Philips/Saeco/Gaggia uses the same brew unit with a 10.5 g serve (sometimes about 9 g limited programmably) since 2004, except of the Granbaristo model with a serve of 16 grams.
Tossing up between this and breville barista touch impress for a small office 1-4 people depending on the day. Any suggestions?
Personally, for an office, I would go for the Accademia, it is more user friendly for a busy office, even if it is small.
Cheers
@@Coffee_Kev thanks Kev- is there much quality difference with the shots? I have a dual boiler at home majority I
of coffees made are iced lattes so shot quality is high on the priority list (we only make 20ish coffee made/ week at the office). Thanks again
I'm not sure this machine has the top clearance I need to sit under my kitchen cabinets. Any idea of the height with the water or bean lid open? I know the height of the unit itself is 38.5cm according to the spec sheet. Thanks!
Hi Matt, I have just measured the Accademia with the lid open and it just under 48cm, Cheers
Kev
Thanks Kev. My clearance is 48cm so it is a contender! So it's either this, Jura Z10 or Siemens EQ.9 Plus Connect model. Have you had any experience of this Siemens Bean to Cup? On offer just now at £1099@@Coffee_Kev
Hi,
What bean to cup machine would you recommend for around £600ish?
Thanks,
Baz
Hi Baz,
Have a look at my post on bean to cup machines:
coffeeblog.co.uk/best-bean-to-cup-coffee-machines/, one of the beast bean to cup machines is the Gaggia Brera, but there are loads on the market.
Cheers
Kev
@@Coffee_Kev thanks, I thought the Brera was an older model, ideally wanted a pro steam wand, but will take a look at the link, thank you 🙂
Hi I've just bought a delonghi primadonna soul. Can you tell me what the difference is between Long black/americano and "coffee" feature?
Hi Harry, if you select a long black, you'll get espresso and then separate hot water. If you select a "coffee" - do you just get espresso, or do you get espresso and hot water as with the Americano setting? On some bean to cup machines, "coffee" is essentially a big lungo. Cheers, Kev.
I have been weighing up after using wasteful pod machines for last 5 years, what to spend my hard earned coinage on which machine.
I was initially looking at getting a jura. But the cost of the z10 I was looking at was astronomical.
I must say I love the look of this badboy!
And the idea of using the wand on the odd occasion I fancy a bit of latte art is a good addition. I mainly drink milk based beverages, with the odd ristretto or espresso on those stressful days.
Would you suggest this machine over a Jura sir?
Hi, I haven't tried the Z10, lets just say, not all coffee machine brands are excited at the prospect of people like me reviewing their products!!!
My opinion of Jura machines are that they are very good, I've heard of lots of people that have that model and are happy with them.
Personally, I can't imagine any other bean to cup machine being much better than the Gaggia for cup quality
Cheers
Kev
@@Coffee_Kev I apreciate that honest reply Kev! 👌
I must admit I have been swayed by the look of the gaggia, and the fact it has excellent reviews.
But it also has a wand!
should I get the Jura Z10 or this machine...?
I've not tried the Jura, but on paper I think they're similarly competent, but the Jura has the app and quite a lot of other really flashy clever stuff while the Gaggia gives flow control, the turbo button and the pro steam wand in addition to the one touch carafe. They both have really cool features, I think it's just a case of going through both and figuring out which has the features you'll benefit from the most. Cheers

Good points. I’ll need to do more side by side
It's a 10 year old philips saeco xelsis with a face lift and different firmware
It's a facelift & firmware update of the original Accademia. Philips Saeco Xelsis Evo and the original Accademia were (I think) based on the same machine with some difference in the interface etc, but there's no current Philips or Saeco machine on the market that I'm aware of that has similar features to the Accademia. Cheers, Kev.
Agree. A repackaged Saeco Exprelia or Evo of yesteryear. It's simply a monderonzed version. Don't be fooled.
Parts can be crossed used
Just bought my Accademia a couple of months ago. The initial start up every morning is a very LOUD and LONG "rinse" cycle. It literally wakes other people up in the house. Is this normal??? Also, the first cappuccino I request every day is nothing more than hot milk. It grinds the coffee, but the pucks are dumped into the bin un-brewed and wasted.
Hi Ellen, did you receive this from Gaggia UK, If so please get in touch with Raj and his team, they are excellent and I'm sure they will help you.
Cheers
Kev
Im at a loss to choose one. I like the oricle touch and jura z10. but cant decide, my head is exploding, can anyone help. My jura just died and im going to slash out. coffee taste is the most important and i love latte and chance to explore customisation
I’ve had the Gaggia Accademia for over a year now and prior to that, I had a Jura E6. While the E6 is pretty basic compared to the Gaggia or Z10, I think it pulled better espresso shots than the Gaggia does out of the box. After a bit of adjustments to the grind size, temp, and turning the pre infusion on, I am super happy with the taste of the Gaggia. Also, the Gaggia has an external milk carafe. Unlike the Jura, the milk never enters the machine on the Gaggia. That is huge for reliability and cleaning. Just my two cents!
@@benjaminknox6796 Thats great info, thank you, its the gaggia im going for.
Whey there is no great bean to cup machine?
I want one perfect even if it will cost a ton of money.
It depends what you mean by great or perfect.
@@Coffee_Kev I want it to produce coffee like the Manuel machine does.
I want it to have a lot of options and modes and if I want i can use it manually 😁
kev give mea nice machine xxx
100% it does.
No one shows where the water reservoir is
ah, oops. Top left when looking at the machine. Top right is the bean hopper.
Thanks. Does it come out and if so does it lift out from the top? Wondering how easy it would be to remove while under cabinets.
Z10 Giga is crap the interface does not work properly at all forget that machine stick with the 6 or 8 models not the new z10
Saeco. 10.5 grams since 1996 😂
What do we tangibly mean by cup quality? Sweeter? I usually hsve latte, would i notice this quality difference in a latte between the accademia and the touch impress? @Coffee_kev
Yeah, "cup quality" is a bit vague, I should try to stop saying that. The main difference when I refer to "cup quality" in terms of bean to cup vs traditional portafilter machines, is being able to get into the sweet spot when it comes to intensity, body and also full extraction. It's also fair to say that it's also possible to not get into the sweet spot, and end up with a very intensely bad tasting espresso with a lovely thick body, but this is where dialling in is required. When it comes to milkies, generally speaking if you like an intense milky, with lots of espresso flavour cutting through it, you'd probably be happier with the touch impress, although the Accademia is among the best in this regard with it comes to bean to cup. I will do a proper side by side comparison though. Ta, Kev.
@@Coffee_Kev thanks Kev! Very helpful! This coffe botherer also stumbled across another one of your helpful videos and funnily enough we are one of the personas. I currently have the sage barista but my wife can't use it, but I want to keep the portafilter I think and getting better at geek mode, so we may in fact go with the Oracle! I think it means she can make her cappuccino and lattes. The impress sort of does this too it seems, but not with the milk function so now it's oracle or Gaggia, but portafilter wins it... I think 😅 Very helpful content. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic review, thanks for sharing. I’ve also just uploaded a review and would love to receive your feeeback. All the best, TruePreView
