  • Volcano update from Iceland. Change of pressure in boreholes as forecaster of impending eruption. May 21, 2024. Today the staff of geothermal power plant had been evacuated after the change in pressure in boreholes had been detected. Usually it indicates á magma runnung from Svartsengi towards Sundhnukur as it passed via boreholes area. 00:13 - Geothermal power plant of Svartsengi seen from drone 4K 01:13 - Blue Lagoon seen from drone 4K 03:28 - Sundhnukur eruption site seen from the power plant 04:21 - Thorbjörn mountain (subglacial volcano) seen from drone 04:33 - Map of the area. I would think like everything on Earth, pressure will escape at the weakest point, Which it has already escaped (where you can see the old escape caldra 1) It is not able to build up enough pressure to break through a 4km crust when it already has a ready release less than a mile away (the current fissure)

Shawn Willsey, geology professor, does a great job, too. He's usually stationed in some remote place--Utah? Idaho?--but is there right now in Iceland.

They need to show the boreholes as i am sure one runs to the east from the powerplant... It might just run strait up the borehole!!!!!!

Speculating - 4 eruptions with tons of lava released would fill many of the fissures as the lava flows down the lower grade, and it is layered over one crust over the other. That is a lot of weight putting pressure on the molten lava to squeeze just about every fissure, crack, tunnels, and tubes. So it is very logical the harsh freezing temperatures aided the hot lava to fuse to each layers of lava crust at a quicker pace, and the molten lava that are still cooling compresses down on the previous layer . The weight of all this material, cooling molten lava, and other byproducts would create tremendous pressure squeezing liquids out, and away from the area.
Perhaps the last four eruptions created a fairly tight seal, this would make it difficult for the magma chamber to find an escape, what was able to move actually sealed the remaining cracks, fissures, and crevices. I tend to believe the magma will move out toward the sea, and erupt under the sea not far from Grindavík harbors. No one has mentioned any changes in the aquatic creature's activity, but they will be the first to instinctively react to any kind of catastrophic changes, and will distance themselves from any impending danger. I'm just a layman that has worked in dirt, mud, rocks, and cements observing all this, and that large build up of lava in the chamber has tried to pop off to the surface, and now it will start pushing toward the shore wall, and sea bed.
So, what looks bad, may not be as bad as the so-called experts make it to be, even the scientists, geologist, and volcanologist have no idea what is happening. They have been looking at hard data, yet they still can agree on anything, just a lot of word salad, and mumbo jumbo! The people of Iceland deserve better, their lives are at stake, and they don't need the fear porrn being generated by the news, and their so-called experts. Praying for Grindavik, thank you Roman for keeping us up to date. S/W Arizona USA.
