my theory:
broken end portal:
some servers automatically delete the end files for optimization purposes (i've had similar problems due to this before). the players are trying to go to a dimension that does not exist, so i'm guessing that this server just handles that by putting the players in any dimension that isn't the one they're currently in - meaning, the nether. i'm nearly 100% sure that when the admin said "fixing the end", they were importing files to the server so the end portal would have somewhere to take the players to.
broken nether portal:
the game wants to anchor players that travel to the nether to a portal, so it created one. the problem was, that portal was linked not to a *nether portal* in the overworld but to the *end portal.* this meant that whenever the players went through that nether portal, they were transported to the overworld, but instantly went back through the end portal, which took them back to the nether (see above). it probably worked when they moved it as per dadza's advice because 1. phil was right and it just didn't have anywhere to spawn a nether portal in the overworld (and my explanation is wrong), or 2. they got far away enough from the end portal that it couldn't link to their nether portal anymore, thus leaving the game no choice but to create the portal in the desert.
bear in mind, anything not stated as a fact is just an educated guess!

Honestly a very sound theory, all I have to add is that both explanations for the nether portal could be right. After all the server did restart which was likely to "add" the end dimensions back in which fixed the end portal, but the nether portal was still broken possibly because its link to the end portal was removed or because it couldn't generate a "safe" portal.

Guys I think the nether portal spawned based on their coordinate in the overworld (in the end portal) so when they tried to enter it in the nether it just spawned them in the portal again and that brings them back to the nether

Here's my uneducated guess as to what happened: in a freak accident that can only happen because they're playing on a multiplayer server, some data gets corrupted upon them entering the End portal. That data is probably "which dimension should the player be transported to", with the game confusing the sub-folders for the End and Nether in the region file. I'm guessing that this is a server problem rather than a client-side problem because both Ranboo and Niki experience it. When they re-enter the game-generated Nether portal to return to the overworld, the game begins its process for generating a new Nether portal up there and then runs into some issues, as hypothesized below.
When the game looks for a suitable portal location, it first performs a check for: 3×4 buildable blocks with air 4 high above all 12 blocks, which are centered on the chunk containing the destination and at the closest location to place a portal. I'm guessing that the check fails for one of two reasons:
1) when accessing the chunk data, it checks a list of blocks IDs and finds the End portal frame block and the End portal block at the closest possible location. These probably aren't considered buildable blocks: an End portal frame block can't be replaced by the player if broken or replaced in Survival mode, and the End portal frame can't be replaced as it's unobtainable in the player's inventory.
2) when accessing the chunk data, it checks a list of block state properties and finds an End portal frame with the "eye" block state set to "true" at the closest possible location. That block state is probably considered "not buildable."
Interestingly, this failed check seems (as far as I can guess) to prematurely end the 3x4 valid location search; instead of continuing to look for other locations within 16 blocks horizontally and any distance vertically of the player's destination coordinates like it should, the game seems to move on after checking the closest possible location. If it had proceeded as it should, it should have generated a portal somewhere above or below the End portal room (or at least, that's how I understand it). There's no way to prove what precisely is happening, but it's all probably caused by the corrupted region data. After the 3x4 valid location search fails, the game proceeds to a 1x4 valid location search that checks for a 1×4 expanse of buildable blocks with air 4 high above each (which uses the same criteria as the 3x4 search and fails for the same reasons), and then it tries to force-generate a portal. [By the way, Phil was entirely right about how the game decides that a location is too dangerous; if the game decides that all its underground locations will kill you, it does just put your portal in the sky!] Whatever went wrong to prematurely end the valid location searches seems to also affect the process for forcing portal generation. The game tries to force-generate a Nether portal at the End portal coordinates, but it still checks for buildable blocks and still finds the End portal. Because the area it's somehow limited to checking still contains blocks that aren't considered buildable, the whole process is cancelled and the players are returned to the Nether portal they just entered.
You'll notice that Niki's server admin guy restarted the server partway through the video to fix the corrupted data, but after that the portal just doesn't work. Honestly speaking? I've got no clue what's going on there. Since neither Niki nor Ranboo entered a loading screen (purple overlay is just graphics), it looks like the game couldn't teleport them; I'd guess that their coordinates are just too cursed for the game to consider calculating with and leave it at that.
I don't actually know anything about how Minecraft works or coding in general; all of this was cobbled together from about 6 hours of wiki trawling, bug report scouring, and hyperfocused curiosity. I went on several tangents about how region file corruption could confuse the Nether portal generation process and the End portal spawn process and how whether a block can interact with a piston has anything to do with whether a Nether portal can replace it, all of which I ultimately removed for lack of provable relevance. If you, the reader, actually know anything about Minecraft or coding, please reply with any corrections! I now need to go to pick up my prescription refills before the pharmacy closes, and also maybe drink some water for the first time today. Farewell!

Dream disabled the end in his smp but that doesn’t get rid of the portal. So it sends them to the only other dimension available. But that’s just my theory.
