Last 2 games in Indiana defensively felt like last year against the heat in the playoffs. Defense getting sucked in by either reaching or flashing double team inside the perimeter and allowing kick outs to wide open 3 point shooters. I mean stylistically it looks different because of the pace of passing and shot taking by the pacers, but essentially same type of results. Drive-kick-swing-swing-shoot or drive-kick-swing-pump-drive-layup type stuff over and over and over… the problem is the help defense leading into the kick-swing action and then we are scrambling to recover and they have enough guys that can handle the ball and use our momentum in recovery against us. The thing that puts us in those positions is not being able to stay in front of the primary ball handler whether it’s Halliburton or McConnell. Their defenders are getting beat off the dribble into the paint and then 1 or 2 help defenders come off their men to pick up. So what’s the solution? I say allow them to get into the paint all they want initially, but don’t collapse and have a plan. Soon as McConnell and Halliburton get by their initial defender, don’t immediately come to cut off or help allowing a back door cut or a spray out 3, instead we should hedge and allow them to make a decision on whether they want to shoot 75+ shots from the elbow. Of coarse they’re going to make some but they are all looking to pass first and I think would have some indecision if the pass is constantly taken away. Their pgs are opportunistic scorers they aren’t volume guys. Force them to be volume guys and carry the offense. Don’t let them have anything from the perimeter. When siakum gets the ball at the elbow take away his air space and make him finish at the rim so he has to spend more energy. Miles turner hasn’t shown an ability to create offensively so get into his air space. If he drives he’s more than likely to kick no need to help even if he beats his man on a drive it’s better to give up a 2 point dunk than a wide open 3 on a possession in my opinion until he’s beating you consistently on drives and finishes. But all the scrambling around trying to recover from reaches and the flash doubles is just leading to wide open cut lanes and spot up 3’s. Honestly if Josh hart can’t play it probably doesn’t matter atp but if he can only give you 75% let’s say, then Donte and hartkenstein need to be the ones to fill in his rebounding stats. If hart can give us 7-8 rebounds we need Donte to secure 9-10 and hartkenstein needs at least 15. Offensively we need Brunson to get an efficient 40 points. Simple as that. Deuce, Donte, hart, burks combine for 70 at least however it comes. Precious has to be more aggressive defensively. We’re not going to completely shut them down defensively. It’s about what are we willing to live with if they want to beat us. I’m willing to live with their pgs beating us with mid range jump shots and taking away passing lanes. McConnell has shown the ability to hit those but is a bit less effective on the road and the last shot Halliburton want to take is a middy. Both of them have a slow forming jump shot and if we invite them to try it I think we should be able to recover and contest most if not all those type of shots if we can have a plan to entice them into those shots and anticipate their shot rhythm. Easier said than done of coarse but it’s just a thought. LGK! 🫡🟧♿️

Getting to the Conference Finals is a somewhat necessary next step in learning how to win for this group.
I agree that their eyes are set on the prize, but they’re also humans and understand the reality of the situation. If they can move on and lose to Boston, I think they’ll all see the good in that once the dust settles during the offseason.
By the way, I love this show and it gets me off the ledge after all these though losses. Thank you Jon, GMAC and crew.

Brunson played much better in the 2nd half but also much worse.. I don’t think Donte touched the ball in the 3rd quarter .. Brunson was not looking to play make for his team mates, and every time he took a bad shot the pacers ended up with a bucket down the other end.. Brunson has to be better and god willing josh will be ok for Sunday

Ya'll gonna hate me for this. I love the Knicks ever since I saw Lonnie Shelton. I am sorry but there is a word I learned way back in my military days that I felt like the Knicks were doing in this game. The word, unfortunately, is called "malingering."
You know, and, I AM knows full well that the Knicks are going to the Finals, so stop acting like there is a doubt.
The only way they don't get there is if Brunson finally gets carted off the court, then the: "BasketBa'al Gods" have to make a tough choice.
"Do we let the 2nd stringers start pouring in 3's, or, do we have to give up and let the Pacers win....?"
