Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) are Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Vadestrid , both born in 1976 and based in Göteborg, south¬west Sweden. They met when both 15 and are still, amazingly, working happily together, over 25 years later. CBL itself was formed in 1996, as an offshoot from other projects, but it soon became their focal point, culminating in their first release on ‘mp3.com’ in 1998. The duo signed with the celebrated Lyon¬ based ‘Ultimae’ label in 2002 and went independent in 2014 To date they have released six official, full length albums and is one of the biggest names in their genre.
CBL aim to combine earth and space in their music. Using the combination of nature and technology as the main inspiration for their work, they like to represent both the positive and negative effects that this collaboration can lead to.
CBL are frequently present among the headliners of the biggest Psytrance festivals across Europe and have done many shows in Russia and even USA and Australia. - Hudba

I think I have heard about CBL first time 12 years ago and back then I could not believe how good their music is! These days there is a ton of great music of any genre, but they are still on the very top. Time goes on, but the music doesn't get old. I hope they make a decent living. I need to get their whole collection somewhere. They should have at minimum 500k subscribers here!

The whole album is just amazing but I particularly love 780 Days through Loss Aversion, Dodecahedron being my absolute favorite. So many bands you wonder how long they will be on top of their game but CBL came out strong with The Path and they have only gotten better and better since. Thank you so much for all of your creations.

Carbon Based Lifeforms is top of my personal playsets since I "discovered" them earlier this year. Your music has really helped me through some rough patches at work or when I just need some chill to my 2020 angst. I really appreciate getting a glimpse behind the curtain into how you craft your music. SFX are such a key element of ambient, psychedelic, and trance music but you've transcended all of those. CBL is its own genre!

Thanks, CBL for this behind the scenes look. I had thought that you created all of your amazing tunes in a secluded studio with a million dollars worth of recording equipment, based upon the sound quality of your music. No big studio, just big talent!
This group was one of my best discoveries last year. The live concert in Ozora is a jewel... I use to read Proust while listen to it.

Hey, if you guys like CBL you might really like Denis Polic too. He has a similar sound and is incredibly talented. He's Berlin School and Tangerine Dream adjacent. I only mention it because I like to find new music that fits a similar style to CBL and maybe you do too.
