  • @madwez
    @madwez Před 4 lety +4

    some ask about what he do to make his music so great.
    i tell 3 things in my view are crucial in his music.
    first is modulation he modulates every bit of sound.
    second is reverb, he uses a good amount of different reverbs in the send it does the trick sounding away better.
    third is playing with low frequencies that he phases and LFO etc.
    the rest if you have two more things like a good sensibility for melody and beat you can achieve something within this line that magnus does.

    • @OrangeGenerator
      @OrangeGenerator Před rokem

      yeah sure... it's easy to achieve good sensibility for melody, structure, technical skills, mixing skills
      reducing any creation down to it's individual steps will make it look easy, but creating something from nothing is anything but easy.

      Yeah, it was interesting to know that he assembles everything as he goes!
      I've heard other music producers say that most of the time they already have the basic track in their heads and then they just need to translate it into sound.
      I don't know how Magnus is capable of giving a direction to his tracks with his working method but it's a fact that he does! :)

    Some great design work going on. I'd love to hear about how he references to keep levels in check. There are a lot of areas in the mixing of this kind of epic ambient washy music that puzzle me. He's insert reverb on nearly every track/bus yet everything seems so together. Anyone have a clue how he could be managing this intense blend of elements where all things remain clear? PS that filter-stepped snare hit was brilliant!

    • @DaveBessell
      @DaveBessell Před 7 lety +3

      Its a very clever mix of some sounds that are meant to blend together and seem like one unified thing. With some other elements that are meant to sound as separate layers. From what I can see its mainly his sophisticated use of EQ which is allowing him to keep the separation and clarity where he wants it. The distortion on some sounds is important too. That takes good ears, quite a bit of experience and some technical knowledge about masking, spectrum analysis and such like. Plus of course you must have a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve and where all of the different elements are supposed to fit.

      @mirrorsedgefan Před 3 lety +1

      I don't know what you're expecting, but as a single man who produces advanced compositions made up of a lot of digital, virtual instruments playing at the same time, there is only so much you can do for a live performance. This is the case with most artists in the electronic genre, anyways. That being said, he does play some actual instruments live, on top of a lot of the automated synthesizers in the background, in some of his live performances. Here's a good example: czcams.com/video/273axwQ6xsI/video.html
