- The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series can be a cyclical place when it comes to riders shifting race teams. Some off-seasons, there are very few big moves and in others it’s as though everyone has somehow decided to dawn new colours for the upcoming race season. This year, things have been busy already with plenty of new deals being penned up and down the pro pits.
Ric and josh sat down ahead of the start of the 2024 season to discuss the main moves and shakers coming into this year of racing!

The UCI Mountain Bike World Series unites mountain bike’s major formats under a single brand for the first time. The new UCI Mountain Bike World Series includes the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for Cross-country Olympic (XCO), Cross-country Short Track (XCC), Cross-country Marathon (XCM), Downhill (DHI), Enduro (EDR) and E-enduro (E-EDR).

Hey uci, there was this pretty good DH race on this weekend just gone. You could learn a thing or ten from that. Good few pages you could take out of that book for the benefit of racers and fans alike.

This is crap, I have been looking forward watching the Downhill 2024, UCI just don't have a clue. I guess I will just have to watch BK's trackwalks, practice runs and be happy with that.
I want 2 things for this season: first, I want Amaury Pierron to come back and kick ass again, and second, I want Minaar to win a world stage or cup and retire on top with a good brand like Norco supporting the legend.
These guys really know how to make DH boring. Wow, that was depressing for one of the most exciting sports.

Who really cares, UCI is choking the life out of DH. Not paying this year for another crappy broadcast. I would pay twice as much for coverage from Redbull!
It's more Warner Brothers Discovery. The UCI was involved back in the Red Bull days too. WBD is the one who put it behind a paywall, fired Rob Warner, and killed GCN+

Not only DH but the XC too. Just a pain in the arse to watch. They’re only racing for the fans. Warner brought both races to life
It's sad to watch this knowing that I won't see any races this year. I could afford GCN+, but there's no way I can buy Max and their sports add-on. It's time to get a new partner, UCI. WBD is ruining the sport.
There will be snidey streams out there surely? I aint giving these people my money, I'll find a way to watch as I do with football.

@@steveclarke96 Oh no 😕 It might be you can only see highlights after the event, I know the UCI CZcams channel was showing some of it when it was LIVE but they didn't show all of it. gutted for you mate.
Discovery+ can’t show all XC DH, they just promised to show MotorTrend, and all the other usual programs… I think it’ll be on the Eurosport app🤷♂️

UCI is not for the riders its for the BIG Sponsers, more fans are leaving and the riders hate what your doing. Redbull/Monster will take your riders and viewers as they have been.
I give it 2 years and the UCI with Discovery will be seriously struggling to exist.

What?! How in the world did Trek let Vali Holl go??!! Very bad move by Trek since Vergier, as good as he is, won't probably win anything again this year. Good for YT tho. Now they have the best female DH rider in the worl, and by far.
It‘s because the team disbanded. Probably not enough funding.
Like Yeti Trek has a mid game of letting go of their riders and take it new riders..
If you listened to the interview with Vali on Pinkbike you would understand that Trek was never really a team. The way I describe what Vali was strugling with/not happy with was it was more of a number of individuals would show up at the races and just perform their tasks then go back home and continue with their daily responsibilities. The only time they worked together was just at the races.
I must be in an exclusive club; those that enjoyed the coverage last year. Ok, so Rob is gone. It was still good. I think the camera angles were better. I thought Cedric Gracia had great technical insights. And I'm not saying that anyone is better than any other, I do know if you listen to any season 2018 to 2022, it sounds the same. I can almost do the commentary. Change is good, THAT SAID, the inability for everyone to get access to the broadcast is multiple steps backward. You can't build a sport by making it hard to follow. Hardline isn't he answer. You saw what happened to Jackson. If he misses the season, do you think top riders will think twice about doing something risky like that before the season? Jackson getting hurt is the worst thing that could have happened in that race. This response is more generally aimed at other commenters, in this and similar threads, not specifically about the video contents. Oh, get rid of the semi finals, if they haven't already. While I enjoy the extra content, it feels a bit predatory on the riders. (Unless of course the riders themselves want the semis, as a majority)
