congratulations for the videos, do you think it would be possible to use prius cells on these scooters, some have 7.8 volts or 8.2, but amperage is high, would that be possible?

    • @daynight7983
      @daynight7983  Před 2 lety

When I looked for a cell for a Toyota Prius car, I found that there are 6 of them in a pack with a rated voltage of 1.2v. It is 7.2 volts per pack and 72 volts in parallel with 10, so there seems to be no problem with the pack combination.
It's just a matter of whether it is possible to optimize the internal space of the battery and obtain an appropriate BMS.

I have some questions and concerns regarding the battery packs. It looks like the compartment can only fit 10 21700 batteries in parallel. So it's giving you 35Ah total. But for the 75Ah option there is no more room available in the compartment to fit 15 cells in parallel. I don't think there are any 7500mAh battery cells from Samsung or LG. Are you guys getting the 7500mAh 21700 batteries from Chinese supplier? If so, what brand and model is it? I would like to get the data sheet for it.

    • @daynight7983
      @daynight7983  Před 2 lety +1

Once you see the real Hunter Quad, it is easy to understand.
The battery compartment is quite large, making it much larger than a DTX. The wheelbase is also the longest model, with a total length of 1540 mm front and rear.
The parallel arrangement of battery packs is set by combining the horizontal and vertical positions.
By putting Lexan on the footrest, that space is also utilized.
It's a fairly large model, so 72v 75Ah is possible.
This model is designed and assembled in Korea, the cell is Samsung 21700 50E, and it is packed by CTNS, a domestic battery packing company.
So the price is quite high.

      nice to meet you. friend.😁
The same rating as the quad from the factory is 100A. 10 seconds is a common bms for charging and discharging lines capable of up to 200A instantaneously.
It can drive the controller 180A enough.
If you want to overtune, it may be possible to change the bms and control to a higher product, but other parts may be less durable.

Samsung 21700 50E batteries only deliver 9.8A continuous power per cell, so 9.8A x 10p gives you 98A out of the battery pack... 98A x 84V full charge would give you 8232 watts of power not 14000 watts. It does have 14.7A peak power per cell but that is max peak/pulse power...not sustained power. It's not a true 14000+ watts of power. Having 4 x 50A controllers would not be necessary...and 4 motors are not necessary either. Just 2 x 50A controllers and 2 x 72V motors would be fine and you would still be able to reach 123 km/h or even faster.. The extra weight in the 4 motors will slow the scooter down, and the handling will be very heavy, so quick turning response will be difficult..

    • @daynight7983
      @daynight7983  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a good comment.
If you check the specifications of Minimotors or Weped's products, there are products with an output of 10,000~30,000w among 50Ah battery packs (or less than 50Ah) using Samsung 21700 50E cells. Do you think the product specs are coming?
Most of the models produced calculate the output based on the peak value of the part. This part is not a matter of right or wrong, but the customary notation method of manufacturers.
Motor, controller, BMS, and cell all have peak values. It is only temperature related and can usually hold a peak value of about 10 seconds. It can be used in driving situations that require high torque in about 10 seconds. Overtaking a vehicle, making a sudden start, accelerating uphill, etc...
There are two models I have ridden.
      -50Ah battery, controller 45A*2, motor 2ea
      -50Ah battery, controller 45A*4, motor 4ea
If your theory is correct, it is correct that there is little difference in performance between the two models.
However, the top model has a top speed of 85 to 90 kph, and the model below has a top speed of 124 to 135 kph. The torque is also doubled.
This part has been confirmed by real tests (20,000 km) for a long time.
It is better to establish the theory based on practical experience.

@@daynight7983 Yeah, the peak instant power of 14.7A (147A) would certainly help in the initial part of the acceleration. But the sustained power drops to 98A...
The scooter with 4 x 45A with 4 motors can go faster top speed than the scooter with 2 x 45A with 2 motors if the battery is putting out more power than 90A. If it's putting out 130A of sustained power it will certainly go faster (higher top speed). Samsung 50E is not bad, but there are other batteries that deliver more continuous power. Both the controllers and motors are limited by the battery's output.
If you are referring to Dualtron Storm Limited (the U.S. market) it uses LG M50T. They don't use Samsung 50E.. A lot of owners are having problem with the top speed not being able to reach the advertised speed (120 kph) anywhere near it. My concern is that the LG M50T battery power output drops to 2.43A per cell, 21.87A (2.43A x 9p) and not full 120A (Storm Limited has 2 x 60A controllers) if the battery's operating temperature drops below 10C (50F). That's nearly 6 times less power and people are having trouble getting past 40 or 45 mph. It also drops power by half when it gets too warm above 25C (77F). Controllers and motors can't do much if the battery can't supply enough power to meet power demand..

QUAD's 50Ah and 75Ah models(50E cell) have the same performance (torque, top speed). We rode together and saw it for ourselves. Can you explain this part?
Weped SST, FS, etc all use Samsung 50E cells. Less than 50 Ah. The controller is a whopping 2*200A. Of course, it is set by lowering the current, but you can use all the peak values of the battery.
I test drove them all. Peak specs govern all performance. It is only necessary to take measures against heat. QUAD has such heat countermeasures.
As explained in the video, the way to increase the output is simply to replace the controller. If all the peak current values of the battery pack can be used, the performance is easily improved.
DT storm Limited will also be able to achieve the speed indicated in the specification if equipped with a Kelly controller 2*200A.
Test drive models such as QUAD, SST and FS. You'll quickly find that your theory doesn't match reality. I am riding QUAD for 20,000 km and I am experiencing with my body that the actual output is more than double that of Thunder 1(35E 35Ah)
A theory that is not confirmed by experience is not accurate information.

@@daynight7983 I wonder if the 75Ah Samsung battery pack is getting heat build-up.. Extra 50A (147A sustained power) of current flow is hard on the battery pack. What metal are they using to connect the 75Ah batteries together?.. If it's not pure copper it will limit current flow...because of the resistance and heat build-up. Spot welding isn't good either because it doesn't provide enough contact coverage on the cells. Plus the weight of the battery is increased by 50%. Depending on temperature (both operating and ambient temperature of the battery) with power loss and extra weight of the 75Ah battery equipped scooter may not perform any better than the 50Ah scooter. I am afraid to say that neither the 50Ah nor 75Ah Samsung battery packs for the Quad scooters are using copper with proper thickness to sufficiently and effectively deliver that current. Less heat build-up on the 50Ah pack version however.
The max peak or pulse power from the battery is only good for the initial part of the acceleration, meaning that each time you pull that throttle, for very short amount of time you will feel that boost or torque but not the top speed. To get that higher top speed you need the continuous sustained current from the battery.
Weped SST is putting out 132A (14.7A x 9) at peak current. But it's also considerably lighter 115 lbs, whereas yours weigh 150 lbs? Plus the SST is on two motors so the power delivery is more efficient. You can get to 75 mph with it. You're not getting anywhere close to 400A from the controllers, realistic peak figure is 132A and 88A sustained power... That 30,000W+ is for marketing hype.
The Dualtron Thunder 1 puts out 80A x 67V, gives you 5360W, whereas yours puts out 147A peak current, giving you 12,348W. That's why you feel twice the power in initial part of the acceleration. But the top speed will differ less because your power drops to 8232W. The controllers and the motors can't do much if the battery puts out limited power, as the very source of power comes from the battery.

It's getting longer and longer. The torque increase effect is better than the weight increase due to the number of parallel batteries. The exaggerated advertisement part of 400A was explained first in my video. It controls by limiting the 400A output and has the advantage of reducing the failure of the controller.
You said in the beginning that the quad's 4 motors and controller were unnecessary. 2@50A because the battery cannot supply enough power. They said 2 motors would suffice. I have been riding 4@45A, 4 motors for a year, and I am enjoying it leisurely and fun with twice the output (torque, top speed). Excessive commentary style and my battery has over 20,000 km.
Even at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius in midsummer, I am enjoying long-distance high-speed commentary without BMS temperature cut or controller temperature cut. We do what we can without a cooling fan.
By the way, I am a user. The battery packing method cannot be answered unless it is opened.
Torque and maximum speed vary according to the length of the neodymium magnet of the motor, the thickness of the copper winding, and the number of turns. The peak current is not short-lived and can be accelerated at the moment when sufficient maximum speed is required.
It also gives you plenty of time to pass a vehicle on an uphill slope. When the QUAD is delivered to users in Europe at the end of April, you will know more clearly through reviews. You will be amazed at the overflowing talk.
I have driven 80,000 km for 8 years and experienced many models, so I know from experience that there was a problem and the QUAD was the solution.
Any further recurring theoretical debates seem meaningless. Please feel it for yourself.
Please test drive the Numo version of SST, FS, and R7 Tech's QUAD later.

    Hi my friend,🙏
    I want your lights...
A friend give me a battery same as mine with the difference of BMS (i have 100a HEYO 16s)
For now, (till the big controllers come) i work the scooter with 35a controllers and batteries 60v 21a + 14,4v 20a extra = 20s 72v
Now my friends battery is better to conect it in parallel (pass bms) with mine and have 60v 21a+21a= 60v 42a + 4s extra 72v
Or my friends battery change all the connections and make 1 4s 14.4v with many amber and conect them in series (as i already have the small)
And have 2 big batteries the one 60v21a +14.4v ??a =72v (in second way disconnect at all the small battery)
Don't tell me to make one 60v 42a it can feet in board!!
So 1st way: 3 batteries : two 60v parallel and one 4s (small 20a) series.
2nd way: 2 batteries : one 60v 21a and one 4s (big many amber) series.
In the end with so many batteries if i make a mistake (my store is flat) i brake down all the building....!!💥😁😂😂

Connecting 16s and 4s in series is time consuming and risky, but if you have enough electrical knowledge and experience, you can repack the battery. However, the principle is to connect the same cells in series. Even if the cells are not the same, it is better if the discharge amount or energy density is similar.
After that, paralleling two 20s batteries is no problem. However, you only need to be careful that the discharge amount of the BMS with the lower allowable current value will follow. Please calculate the BMS allowable current according to the controller capacity. The BMS of the input/output common terminal is capable of twice the allowable current instantaneously.
I don't understand exactly how you're trying to do it, but my comment contains all the methodology.
If you are not a battery pack expert, we recommend working with a professional battery company. You will experience fireworks when short. Eyebrows may disappear. Please wear safety glasses.
