- Welcome to another episode of Out of the Vault! These are opportunities to see items in a museum's collection that are not normally on display. During the visit to the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center several items, including a coat, were pulled out of the collections vault to view. Thank you to Kevin Moore, Curator of Artifacts, for sharing these items with us and telling their story.

loved this video, I wish that it could have been longer 😢. I enjoy seeing ones like this on historical figures. Thank you Will and Andy.
R. B. Hayes' brigadier general coat should be out on permanent display. As the curator stated, it is an important part of his history.
I enjoy these out of the vault episodes. It was very cool to see his uniform coat. I would also be thrilled to be that close to a presidential artifact!
If you dunk the canter in water, the wool holds the water. As it evaporates, it cools the water.
Loved the video! I plan on heading out to Gettysburg soon
Glad you enjoyed! We have an episode about the iron brigade command structure at Gettysburg on the channel. You might enjoy that before you head out.
THANK YOU
You are very welcome. Enjoy!!
Hey i have a civil war era sabre. i wanted to inquire about it, i either have two ideas , either its a copy of an 1860 cavalry sabre or a wrist breaker. sabre does have K&C markings. An I can send pictures
When do you guys hang out at ft Wayne? I'm in the area and have done many reenactments there. I thought it would be cool to hang out and let you critique my look
It may be sometime before we are back at the court. Leadership has changed at the Fort in the city and it has become rather hostile to living history. It is disappointing to say that, yet it is where we are currently.
@@CivilWarDigitalDigest Im sorry to hear that!
