The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

I went to this museum earlier this year in January. Talked to the owner for around an hour. He was one the best Museum owners I’ve ever met along with an amazing museum!

I took my kids to this museum yesterday. We all LOVED it! The owner is absolutely a TOP NOTCH guy! He gets NO funding from anyone for this exhibit! He relies solely on admission charges, which in my opinion are WAY TOO CHEAP!! Can't recommend seeing this place enough! PLEASE VISIT THIS PLACE!!!!

I went in April of this year. What an amazing museum! It's hard to fathom how much stuff he has crammed into such a small space, but it's so well organized. It's easy to go through and enjoy all of the exhibits. Amazing collection, great owner.

I live in Vicksburg. What Charles Pendleton has done is to combine an extensive collection of Civil War material culture with a really good interpretation of the causes and consequences of the war. He doesn’t pull punches on the primary cause of the war, not by his words but the words of the states and the government officials. His interpretation of slavery and of Reconstruction (which is a huge lesser told story of Vicksburg) is spot on. Go here with an open mind. He’s more than willing to talk with anyone. He almost requires that people read his mission statement and the ordinances of secession to put everything else he has in perspective. So while stuff dominates, its in a larger context. Where better than Vicksburg to tell these stories? Nowhere.

My family and I were in Vicksburg yesterday on our vacation. We got our family picture on Fort Hill. I walked the Forlorn Hope because of your video. Wish I had time to do the hike Garry did, but it was hot and my youngest is just 17 months and had seen this video before I went. I’ve been enjoying these videos. I'm curious why you've never covered the topic of money during the civil war. Patriotic civil war tokens, civil war store card tokens, sutler tokens, fractional currency, the birth of the 1864 U.S. 2 cent coin where "In God We Trust" was first used, etc. Such rich history with coins and currency during the civil war. Great tour of the museum! Thank you very much!

8:41 On the single shot gun "it could also be carried by women..." I don't know if Mary Todd Lincoln, or Varina Davis had one, but I remember First Lady Nancy Reagan packing! She explained that it was a "tiny little gun." 😉I wonder if it were one of the derringer types as seen in the same case here, ha ha.
