Mike more than likely this 3 prong blade fuse is as follows:
Prong left camera
Prong center ground
Prong right exhaust
So try a piece of thin tape on prong left and see what result you get then try taping prong right and see or hear that result.

I don't understand exactly what the point of pulling that fuse was? Was it to avoid a check engine light?
Mike you need to do the test in the same place in the driveway, doing the test with the car in the garage may make it sound louder. Even having the grass at a different hight could cause sound level to test off and make sure the sky is the same as cloudy or sunny, I have done plenty of dba testing and it all makes a difference. Thank you for showing what others don't.
This is what I was going to say! He tested the 'sports cats' in his garage, so of course the noise level was going to be much higher than the 'stock cats' in the driveway.

Pulling fuse 41 or 42 (depending on the year) on your C7 definitely makes a difference in the sense that even in ESM Track mode, there are situations (throttle, speed, RPMs, etc) where the NPP valves will close. By pulling the fuse, the valves will always be open for that louder sound profile. The drawback is of course that you can never put it in Stealth mode if you need a quiet start unless you put the fuse back in. The middle ground for added control beyond the stock ESM settings is the Mild2Wild for the C7.

thanks for that content i purchased 2021 c8 a week ago, coming from a few exotic cars i noticed the exhaust was a bit lacking in its tone and sound. i mean the car sounds good but i expected more.
Our car number one brought his car and had a one off done by soul w John great guy. The Vin is under 350.. Maybe you saw it the did a video also cross drilled rotors and tips and his valve system is still functional

I've told you this before but, that blue interior contrasted with the black is very striking and beautiful.
You should get some of the plastic bits(like the cover you removed)covered in leather to match the rest of the interior pieces. It would definitely take the quality of that interior up 10 notches or so...😉👍

Decibels are logarithmic. 3Db gain is twice as loud as baseline 3 more is twice as loud as that, so four times as loud as baseline, add another 3 for a total of nine and it is 8 times louder. Amazing sound pressure increase for just cats.

I wonder if we can unplug the wire from the exhaust valves (the 2 located on the pipe(s) feeding the outboard exhaust tips) and if the valves will stay open????

Thank you for the review of the cats. Maybe I missed it but are you still using the factory valves and muffler set up? Or was that part of an upgrade also?
At this time I only changed the cats. I now currently have a muffler delete system on the car from soul. You will definitely want to change the cats but the muffler delete is very loud. ( no drone on either setup)

I saw around 98 dB as a peak which is a significant level. I wonder if you were using the peak reading or C averaging mode on your sound level meter?
Regarding the 3 prong fuse, I would assume that one pin is hot (+12 VDC mesured to chassis ground) and that it feeds through two seperate fuse elements to the other two pins, one being the mirror function and the other being the exhaust function. It seems to me that they would have to have a very strong motivation to create such a situation, as in they don't want this fuse pulled. This would normally be the dumbest thing ever to require this special fuse which no one on earth is going to have on a shelf.
If you are really intent, then find the hot pin (I would guess the center one), and then fashion a wire jumper and put power to the remaining two pins, one at a time. When you identify the one to the mirror, the remaining one would be the one to remove. This is simple electrical troubleshooting so I assume that the person that got the check engine light has already done this and discovered that they built in an irritant to head this off. Another consideration is that there is more than just two functions associated with the fuse, which might explain the check engine light.
I would not do this myself or recommend that you do it without hearing the story from the factory engineering people.
The sound quality on the mic does no justice I have heard it in person and it is a lot louder than in the video with the sport exhaust
I had sport cats on my C7Z, then went to bypass pipes. Massive difference. Downshifts on country roads, with trees closeby and the windows rolled down, it sounded like a gunshot. Like it would have this loud "kraKOW" effect echo off the trees. So I'm going with bypass pipes on my C8, instead of sport cats.
What are bypass pipes?
@@geneforte9038 Basically just straight-pipes, no cat, resonator, or muffler in the mid pipe area.
FYI to those interested, a 10 db increase is roughly "doubling" how loud humans perceive a noise. So +10 db means roughly twice as loud to the ear.

10 dB is a lot higher volume than what people think. I would spend my money on other things than an exhaust like an Maguson Supercharger which will make a huge difference for the money

I want to hear from 2020 Vette owners that leave car all stock. Want to see issues they have with brand new platform. I’d prefer to do mods after Warranty period. Do you sell Vettes to owners that don’t mod cars or feel the need to track a brand new car?🤔
In track mode I don't see any need to modify the sound of the car for 5k+ and void the factory warranty on the engine. My pride is not that great. After the warranty, if I still own my C8, I will modify it more and more for track performance. Sound will be a byproduct of those mods, but I won't change modify my C8 just for sound only. FYI - I have the performance exhaust.
My buddy has the regular exhaust and I think he regrets not getting the performance exhaust. It's so quiet. I could see that mod being made BECAUSE it's abnormally quiet to the point of not matching the car! Makes no sense why Chevy made its stock exhaust so quiet. Misjudged the customer?

California: 95 dbA is the legal limit for vehicle exhaust noise in California. Police officers can “exercise their judgment” in determining if your exhaust noise is over the legal limit. Most factory-installed exhaust systems even on powerful sports cars don't exceed 75 decibels.

Don't pull the fuse on any model even the 1lt. It will disables your remote start and throws a check engine light. You can't even tell a difference anyways this a C7 hack don't do it on the C8.
