- In this video we will go over everything you need to know regarding the cell cycle, regulation of the cell cycle, mitosis, retinoblastoma (RB), p53 gene, and tumor suppressors for the USMLE Step 1, genetics portion. Specifically we will talk about the different parts of the cell cycle including mitosis and interphase. We will talk about the individual steps of mitosis as well as interphase. We will also discuss the importance of the cell cycle checkpoints and the regulation of the cell cycle. We will continue out discussion with cyclins, cyclin dependent kinases, and their role in regulating the cell cycle. We will finish off with a discussion of the tumor suppressor genes, retinoblastoma gene and p53, their function, and their role in cancer.
