- The Adversary first appeared in The Uncanny X-Men Issue 188 by Chris Claremont.
▸ The Adversary is a malevolent being, rooted in Native American mythology, embodies pure chaos and seeks to destroy and recreate the universe according to his whims. Possessing vast magical powers, the Adversary can manipulate reality, energy, and matter, cast illusions, and teleport. He is capable of opening portals to other dimensions and is virtually immortal. His most notable conflict involves tricking Forge, a mutant inventor and shaman, into opening a portal that allowed him to enter Earth's dimension. The Adversary's ultimate goal is to bring about the end of the world, seeing destruction as a form of creative renewal. He battles the X-Men on several occasions, viewing them as significant obstacles to his chaotic designs. His appearance is often depicted as a shifting amalgam of various demonic forms, symbolizing his chaotic nature and ability to change shape at will.

Probably off fighting his wife’s uncle Dormammu in his realm. You should always assume they’re off fighting some other threat whenever a non-magic hero is fighting an immense magical threat and it’s not already a team-up story.
Who need a Dr Strange when u have Magik, Storm, Forge, Warpath and Moonstar who will hopefully show up soon. Separate they aren't his equal but combined their magical abilities are more impressive than his. If that's enough just add mutant amplifiers, telepaths and a Phoenix and u have a recipe for vanquishing any demon. Forget the Power of 3 (Charmed). Power of X rules.
When storm went to Texas, my heart sped up. When I saw the adversary I nearly had a heart attack from joy because I knew where it was going. Fall of the mutants was around the time I first started really getting into comics, so my excitement is over 9,000!! Now I need two more things to happen to complete the cycle, freedom force in some form or other, and the spell that forge cast to end it!!

Ngl, this makes more sense now. Thanks Rob! I am thankful for your knowledge and insight into these characters and stories I never got the chance to read about myself. Madelyn Pryor and now The Adversary. Pretty cool stuff and it makes sense for The Adversary to be involved in a multi-part plot for X-Men '97.

Rob remember when you said Disney wouldn’t go dark showing jeans clone selling her soul to demons….. well the ending of that last episode was pretty creepy and dark lol. Hopefully they keep it that way

I can wait for the stories, I'm just hoping Rob is all good and it is something fun and he is enjoying his life as much as i enjoy having his stories in my life. I have been listening to this channel almost daily for 7-8 years and if anyone has ever deserved a good life for the services they provide its Rob

But that title, man.. I was actually hoping right after I saw X-man 97 you talk about the Adversary because I always thought Storm only faced the shadow king.

Shadow King and the Adversary may be one and the same since they were created by Chris Claremont who is known for such plot twists.
Most villains in comic are OP plot powered, but leave it to Rob to EXPLAIN it all. I love your channel over the years @Rob!!!

Growing up watching X-Men, never knew how deep Marvel went into demonology and Heaven and Hell, God/Satan, good/evil parallels. Being an adult Christian, you understand how much of this stuff written into comics are more than just stories…very deep stuff

It included: Psylocke (before being kidnapped and having her mind/body switched w/a Japanese assassin Kwannon), Longshot, Dazzler, Banshee, Wolverine, Jubilee, Polaris, Havok, Colossus, Forge & was led by Storm
so is the sentry’s void also connected to the shadow king like the adversary? or are those oblivion’s domain?

The adversary yes!!.. I hope the battle in Dallas and the starlight citadel takes place. This would involve the x-men, storm, forge and magdalene pryor who could take the form of Roma.

The Shadow King says he can’t take credit for being each of the forces that he masqueraded as in Resurrection of Magneto but they are all similar.
They’re all different yet similar in what Shadow King was getting at.
The Lifefeath story? The first appearance of Forge, I believe .

I think Forge has the same power as Sylar from Heroes. Or, at least, it’s a variation of those powers.
Not really, Sylar was able to "see" how the powers worked through examination of the brain. Forge is able to conceive anything and make it real. Millions of miles ahead of Sylar

The Adversary storyline is what brought about X-force the real X-force, the first X-force. Best ever, that and the whole original Excalibur run. Best original X titles. The Adversary was never forgotten.
X-Force came much later. The other X teams of the time were X-Factor and the New Mutants, but they were already around. Then Excalibur came after they died.
@@LeVidocq yeah but what I'm saying is this is the transitional period where New Mutants wrapped up their storylines prior to the issue 99 transition and this is also the storyline that truly introduced Cable.
@@oakharborben I would say that was Inferno, which ended Illyana's story and then was in a weird space for awhile before the transition to X-Force. Cable didn't show up til 1990.
This is a great way to introduce the X-Men into the MCU. They were protected by Roma.

Excuse the geek moment here but I think another way of putting is that the ShadowKing is like DnD dragon god Tiamat. Each of the heads has it's own personality and desires but all stem from the body. Shadow king could be just another head or the body itself, while Adversary is clearly a head.
So who is more skilled, Phastos or Forge?
Twitter being possessed by the Shadow King would explain the rebranding.
