AURORA wrote this when she was only 9 years old.
She explained the song's meaning to The 405: "It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember.

"I couldn't stop it, it just would've been wrong."
PERFECT 👌 description....I, too, noticed the other musicians watching her with admiration the first time I watched this concert, she's amazing. Been following her since first week of January 2020 when I also stumbled across her music.
Aurora wrote a song, "Through The Eyes Of A Child", which she said in an interview - "I was in a bubble where I was only seeing the bad that life has to offer and I had to write this to heal myself, to see the world again through the eyes of a child."
Aurora is an empath and she can feel the energy of the crowds and even in the forest, her favorite place to be. She writes songs to help people and we are blessed she followed her mother's advice and became an artist!
The performance at this same concert is another masterpiece not to be missed. Vevo stripped version is also an amazing version.

I'm giggeling like a child listening to how you two grown men react to Aurora lol. I'm 44 years old and never in my lifetime has someone hit me with music and lyrics the way Aurora does. I just get so happy seeing others really see what I see in her. Love your reactions so far!! Please don't stop reacting to Aurora until you have done ALL her songs. I am Norwegian so I have seen alot of her interviews in Norwegian. And just so you know, she had a good upbringing. She was weird but plp loved her so she was not bullied in school etc. The reason why she is so "dark" in her lyrics even when she was a young girl is just up to her feelings. She is borderline Autistic and her feelings control her alot. You see it in her preformances, lyrics. She NEEDS to express her feelings to get them out of her. Thats why she has so many songs writen at a young age. She never did it for others, she wrote it for her self. It's just a "fluke" that made her famous. AND BTW. This song that I link to is how she got discoverd. She did a song in front of her classmates in 10th grade. She wrote this one too. Very Bob Dylan inspired. Only a short video clip of her, but you can hear the whole song later.. Keep up the good work.

I'd characterize her as empathic -- I think people who are able to feel, understand and express empathy -- who are truly awake -- are a step ahead of much of humanity. And those rare empathic souls like Aurora, who are also musical prodigies, are even more consequential.

Aurora like it when people interpret her music differently. Even she interprets her songs differently than when she was younger. Amazing I am saying about this about a 24 year old. My own interpretation is of someone going through thoughts on of suicide and yet making it through all that without telling anyone or seeking help. Making it through without making that sacrifice. Taking that journey without anyone knowing. This is the first song I have ever heard that comes close to describing what a period of my life was like.
    The entire concert is stunning.

      Her description of
      "War, behind my eyes
      I feel too numb
      Too even try"
Is a textbook description of depression and how it affects you.
She is such an emotional person this song may have been written from her personal experience, or possibly that of her sister who struggles with bipolar. GENIUS song, either way 😍

You really made a shitty day a great day. Thought I would have to wait a long time ;-) I really needed this. Too bad I was not before, now the important thing is written ;-). There are some who made this particular reaction video and I do not think anyone has paused in it. everyone says about the same thing. It does not feel right to pause this song. Again, I think you are doing a fantastic job. I think the sensitivity but at the same time with a strength in her voice along with her whole being. The atmosphere, the arrangement, the man's choir, the instruments make everything very beautiful and authentic. so now I have to come up with something else ;-). There is so much amazing about AURORA but for the next one I will wish for something else I think. Thank you for making my day ........ If you haven't seen The Seed, I highly recommend you watch the Music Video - not necessarily better than her live performances, but definitely worth watching. Actually, she often performs the same song very differently at different times, so it's worth watching the same song done at different performances.

Aurora is the Viking princess herself and the dome she sings in is built on the grave of Olav, the Viking king who Christianized the Vikings over 1000 years ago and it is the world's northernmost cathedral.
But, for Aurora and most Norwegians, nature is our cathedral and nature is our center of life. Aurora is a natural child and Aurora as Aurora Borealis is magical.

  • @glacieractivity
    @glacieractivity Před 3 lety +3

First, thank you again. I really enjoy hanging out with you musing over music and art.
Secondly - I think she is an empath. She sure writes as an empath - treating everything in first-person - subject and object and all - she can be girl strangled for tears while also being grateful soil and seeds craving moisture in the same line. It is as if she is writing lullabies for the entire Universe in the first person after she has read James Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis saying one can consider all life as one inter-connected self-regulating organism.
When I learnt that "The River" was written based on her learning about the over-representation of young men in suicide-statistics a re-listen is needed - she made a happy song about welcoming crying. As far from "in your face" messaging" one can come. With so much space for interpretation (The Seed is one of the few songs where she runs in with banners waving in the wind in full imperative modus).
I also enjoy that you find it hard to rank her songs. To me - her best (for me) 5 or 8 songs while having so much individual characters they sort of belong in her own garden. It is like asking me if I think the ocean, the mountains or the sky in a really good landscape image is best.
In this concert, for an artist that can heavily rearrange her catalogue for rock-band, acapella, voice&guitar to symphonic orchestration, this song is tonally close to how it is recorded in studio.

From her interviews she talks about writing songs as an outlet, and this one feels like it’s talking about having and dealing with dark thoughts (likely suicidal) but finding a way and choosing to move forward in life. So like many of Aurora earlier songs it’s melancholic with a touch of hope.

Hi Greg great reaction, I told you she will make you feel emotions that you thought you never had,and trust me there are many songs where you will just have to listen to right though before saying a word,as for this song? Like you WOW! You know when I first heard it my first thoughts were if this was written by Lennon & McCartney we would be shouting it from the rooftops as a masterpiece.there is no question in my mind that aurora is a genius of a songwriter if you take this song which is on her first album ALL MY DEMONS GREETING ME AS A FRIEND. You will see a thread running though all of the songs where she is facing up and dealing with pains that effect not only her but the people that surround her and the things she sees in life,I have seen many of her interviews and there is one thing that stands out for me and its that she is a very deep thinker and cares deeply about people especially those who are suffering and also nature in which there is also a thread she writes a lot about and makes references in a lot of her songs, she is definitely a child of the earth and loves to be connected to it as much as she can its a reason I believe she goes bear foot in a lot of her concerts.yes aurora is special and I could keep on writing but I want you to descover for yourself and enjoy a journey with aurora, trust me at the age of 64 no one has moved me as much as this special girl from Norway stay safe and let love conquer your mind ❤️🍏❤️🍏❤️

The versatility of Aurora it's amazing... You can noticed that she is very observant since young age, she didn't need to live things to understand them. Her first album it's a vision of the world through her eyes, more personal and introvert in some ways, her second album it's more about her experiences being with the others and her last album talk about the world, the climate change, has a political vision... She is a story teller... Last but not least, many songs unreleased like Silhouettes, We were going to do that, Why did you go a place?

Hey, big Aurora fan from Norway here, and i want to say i love your reactions. I don't have any recommondation for you today because i love all her stuff, but want to leave you with something about the venue/concert. Nidarosdomen is a historical cathedral in Norway located in Trondheim. They started to build it in the year 1070 and it was finished in 1300. Its an amazing building. The concert is a "christmas concert", which is part of norwegian christmas tradition. Big artists hold concerts in churches across Norway, and there are local concerts with choirs etc all over. Whenever you see NRK in the top right corner it means we already paid for the show over the tax bill, so chances are you don't get problems with copyright etc. I don't know exactly how it is with youtube, but mostly it seems to work out. Please keep reacting to Aurora, she has alot of good music. I'd even go so far as to compare her to the likes of jim morrison/bob dylan/janis joplin etc (modern version) in the way she performs emotion through music. Music is the language of the soul.

Please react to Aurora's "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" live from the Nobel Peace Prize concert. One guitar and 2 voices. The song is about euthanasia. Based on a true story in the homeland of Aurora. After the event, she wrote this song. She sings from the perspective of the victim's spirit. That much should be said. Hurt me every time I hear this song. It's also the best performance of this song.
    czcams.com/video/vh0SWTVwXxw/video.html
Regarding this work, it should be said that Aurora was very interested in death and depression from a young age. She always found her birthdays sad because she was one year closer to death. Then she began to collect dead insects in order to better deal with these thoughts. This is one of the reasons why she no longer feels death to fear today. She simply sees him as part of life and nothing more. And she is "lucky to be alive".
Aurora was also bullied at school for being different. She couldn't really do anything with school. At the age of 6 she wrote her first lyrics and started playing instruments. Then at the age of 9 she wrote lyrics in English. She is highly talented and very intelligent. She can say the number pi up to 200 decimal places. She initially recited this number before her concerts to combat her excitement and stage anxiety.
