Good information. However I would like to emphasize a point. Public transportation is not to be run for revenue making or assessed on the basis of profit. It is a Public service and the outcome is measured by the goodness it brings on to the planet as a whole by limiting the use of personal vehicles. But yes the portion of the running expenses could be met by charging the users A nominal price just as a users fee for keeping it clean and tidy. above all the more people using it brings about more productivity to the country as a whole. so the real benefits and profits are collateral than direct.

But at the same time it is duty of govt to ensure that no mismanagement is happening as it is public funds. But today everyone is assuming it to be profit making organizations.

KSRTC is on loss due to mismanagement and inefficacy. Keralites are paying one of the highest rates in road transportation in India and still KSRTC is in loss whereas the private bus service although charging less, is profitable. All routes in Kerala should be privitized so that people will travel in less cost, on time, in clean bus and safer.
