I’m not religious or anything. I kind of gave up that life when my grandma died. But, she was this hardcore Christian woman who was very Islamicaphobic for whatever reason. I remember her telling me I should never talk to Muslims or associate with them in anyway. I never really understood why. I was a kid and her reasons didn’t make sense. . And I kind of grew up being scared when I saw ladies in public wearing the hijab and I really got scared one time when I saw ladies wearing the niqab. There’s a huge Muslim population near the city I live in in Michigan so they are always everywhere. I kind of stayed away but got use to it after awhile. Now that I’m older and can make my own decisions I realize that y’all are just normal people too!! I’ve been learning so much the past few years that a lot of what you talk about just seems to make sense. And nothing my grandma ever told me was true. When I go out now I’ll smile at ladies wearing the hijab or niqab.
I bought a few hijabs to try and see how I would feel wearing one. I think they are beautiful. I wanted to participate in Ramadan and just fast, but I’m not sure I could make it the whole day without eating!! I don’t want to pass out (it happens sometimes with me).
I love your videos and I have learned so much. 💚

Be careful and don’t fast if it hurts your health! If you feel like it will affect your health you are exempt and can even modify it. You can even pray sitting down if you have had a surgery or are injured (and are exempt from fasting and praying salat on your periodh

As a Catholic, I am fasting now. This year there is a war in my home country, Ukraine. In addition to it, yesterday I was tested positive for corona. Just one month after having an Omicron. Once more... this time I do have symptoms. To cheer myself up, I ate the whole bar of chocolate. This year, I am going through a Lent differently, than usually.

Not a catholic, but an orthodox christian. We have four periods of fasting every year, the longest one lasting 40 days. For this kind of fasting we give up all animal products and sometimes oil. The same goes for almost every wednesday and friday of the year and we also have a few days when we can only have bread and water or when we can't eat or drink anything. During our fasting periods we are encouraged to pray more, to read more of the Bible, to be kinder, but it's good to aspire to be like that all the time.
Also wanted to mention that I appreciate so much the way muslims keep their fastings and how they treat and respect their religion. Thank you for all the good info on this channel

Lent is a personal choice not as specific as Ramadan and you choose what you give up, like for me I gave up beef, pork and fast food. But like Ramadan I took on reading the Bible praying more getting more rest and finding ways to help others. This year I am trying Ramadan because I love the connection to God and truly taking time to appreciate all those around me.

As a Catholic, I've always been told that lent is something very personal, meaning you can decide for yourself what feels right for you this time. For me it has also mostly been giving up sweets, but until a couple of years ago (when he was younger) my grandfather did it similarly to what you are saying about Ramadan. (Meaning he did not eat at all during the day, I frankly don't know whether or when he ate at night.) I also know people who do not use the internet except for work or "forbid" themselves to complain, use swear words etc. during lent.

I have done fasting many years probably. This year I have completed a least 22 or 23 fasts Alhamdulillah (except the days that I can't fast) So I understand we're doing this for the sake of Allah. If someone forgets they are fasting or hasn't eaten anything, They shouldn't stop the fast they should complete it. In our state, it was a very hot weather I had difficulty fasting in hot weather . no one can't fast in hot weather you need a lot of will power and patience to do that It was good experience. Not in a disrespectful way, but Ramadan seems *spiritually* similar to Catholic Lent that I grew up with, but honestly there's so much more culture and discipline. I wish that my religion had been treated more as a lifestyle, that just seems like it would make a great comfort and relationship with God.

    • @ayaalzoabi1268
      @ayaalzoabi1268 Před 2 lety +2

      It varies depending on culture
There are people who have the big meal before sunrise and just a small meal after sunset. Because after sunset we have two of the daily prayers + an extra one called Taraweeh that we only pray in Ramadan, which is longer than the daily prayers. Eating too much after sunset can make people lazy thus, have trouble praying Taraweeh, so some people save the big meal to sahoor (the meal before sunrise)
Some others do as you said, it's not really a religious thing, it varies by culture and from family to family according to preference

Nothing against religions, but I find it odd that so many people believe that fasting makes you better able to concentrate on your spirituality. If I don't eat, all I can think about is food. Being hungry also makes me horny because my mind automatically pretends I'm being punished. And if I have to go without water for more than an hour, I will become incredibly antsy and anxious and unable to concentrate on anything else because I'll think I'm doomed to die. It's exactly the opposite of being able to free myself and concentrate.

Lent: We do fast, but you can eat bread and drink water, all 24 hours, to avoid dehydration or hypoglucaemia, however you are not supposed to eat meat, anytime. During those 40 days, you should have fish. No feast, no grills for example.
Stop sinning is supposed to be number one.
Pray the rosary everyday and pray the Stations of the Cross, on Fridays. Jesus stood up so much during his crucifixion! We adore him and thank him!
Thank God for redeeming us and sending Jesus for all mankind. That is what we believe as Catholics!
At my country you do a heavy soup called "fanesca" with corn, beans, peas, pumkin, slices of hard boiled eggs, masitas (fried balls made with milk and wheat flour). My mother decorates it with sweet chili pepper. "Fanesca" is meant to be eaten after a properly done fast, to replenish proteins.

      It depends i guess
If you eat more calories than you burn, you will not lose weight
If you eat less, you will
If you dont it enough at all, your body will be in starvation Mode and if ramadan is over and you will eat normal again you will even gain weight
