I found out a charity that I had sponsored a child through, likely wasn't giving him the help I paid for him to have. To cancel my sponsorship I had to email them and they had to APPROVE my cancellation. I was powerless to cancel on my own.

I’ve seen an add that’s for ‘speechify’ (I believe that’s what it’s called) one of their ads state that: ‘if you have adhd this will save 10 hours but by all means skip this ad!’
1. This is exploiting that. I have adhd myself and it’s just a freaking text to speech app. It will not save 10 hours of time at all, it may help people who read slow but probably not 10 hours.
2. The ‘but you can skip this ad ahahaha’ tactic is just awful.

If they are changing the amount of rent you owe with this contract through Comcast then you wouldn't owe anything for breaking the lease early. They are infact breaking the lease by changing it's previously agreed-upon terms. You can move out at the end of the month without owing them anything. You already have a signed contract, they can't change shit without you agreeing to it.
The way it reads, you can opt in early voluntarily, but nothing will change until the end of the signed lease otherwise

yeah, like the thing where you can't just press a single button to set a browser other than Edge as your default browser and instead have to SPECIFICALLY CHANGE each file that opens in browser to your preferred browser, and that doesn't include the dang links that can ONLY open into Edge, people should mass-sue Microsoft for trying to block other browsers

Exactly. Sometimes the government controlling the market is a good thing, especially when they get scummy and KNOW that they can cause shit like this because “vote with your wallets” is logistically impossible.

About the dislikes: as a small creator, I liked having dislikes because it allowed me to see if the video I made was bad so I wouldn’t make something like it again. Now it is no longer public and I could get more hateful comments (this applies to everyone btw). I hope youtube will learn their lesson and re-add the dislike button

I came across an add for some word game that claimed to 'cure' dementia and alzheimer's. As someone with family affected by the disease I was so angered by it I nearly snapped my phone in half.
WHAT. Sure, it might prevent it, but CURE IT?!? That is insane. I never knew mobile game developers could go this low.

I have to agree with you on the All-State. Switched to them because it was cheaper. Well last week I hit a deer in a rental car , went down to my local All-State office to file a claim and they told me that my car insurance had lapsed 6 months ago, because I was late by a couple days on one payment so they canceled my insurance. Like what? I was late but I did pay it. They say they sent the payments back , never received them.

This happened to me last winter. I missed a payment because I get them digitally and I opened it and forgot about it. They sent a reminder by mail but I had left to visit my family when it arrived. So they cancelled my insurance. But this is Sweden so if you don't have insurance you get to know it. I got a penalty for every day I didn't have insurance, and it's a big amount. Luckily they informed me of that digitally so I actually got that and could call the insurance company up and explain... But I ended up paying hundreds of dollars.
when facebook went offline for a day a month or 2 ago, when it was restored, EVERYTHING was restored. every single "deleted" message i'd had going back to 2008. shit from high school bullies, decade long convos with my ex-fiancee, messages from a friend who'd recently died. the. don't. delete. anything. ever.

Companies caught on and he started getting ads for spoons despite, to his knowledge, only ever telling his friends. Naturally, he was freaked out

Add to that, most things you watch will have an ad before the start of the movie. Top it off with your watch list having a pretty low limit and if you add more movies past that limit it not only doesn’t notify you, but it will just start removing movies off of the other end of your watch list.
I hope there soon comes a time when we throw some big laws in the faces of these scumbag corporations, just as they've done with their "privacy policies", ToS's and the DMCA against their own consumers. They can't get away with their questionable legal clauses, scams and deplorable privacy intrusions forever. There is very little software I can think of that could possibly be worth anywhere near $74 per week...
Although I still consider them rather overpriced, things like adobe products or office 365 are at the very least quite useful tools which can easily generate back the comparatively messily $7-20 a month they cost.

7:20 Yeah, I ran into that trying to log into an old account from years ago in 2018 because I wanted to play Facebook games, and it just so happened to pick three accounts that weren't even active anymore. No option to change them or anything, the other option was "send them a document proving it was me" and you can guess why I didn't do that. Guess the account's gone for good, but maybe that was a blessing in disguise

I have experienced the Facebook verification .I don't talk to almost anybody during time. Haven't used Facebook for 3 years now and I haven't been happier.
2:06 In the File Browser there is a way to reassign them all to a new browser, but it had to do with some setting in one of the drop down menus.
I reckon the reason free trials require you to enter payment info is so that they know you have a payment method set up (and potentially as a method to avoid getting trials with 10 different e-mails). That way, the trial gets to do its job, ie getting you used to the premium version of whateverthefuck so that you're likely to keep using it when the trial ends (and therefore becoming a paying customer, more lucrative than the ads you watch).
So it's not that much of an asshole design (though as a person who refuses to set up online payment to avoid easy internet spending sprees i do get why seeing free trials and not having access to them is frustrating)

The problem is most of the time they auto-subscribe you at the end of the free trial, and make it ludicrously hard to prevent this from happening.

3:20 Honestly it is scummy stuff like that that I hate. I’m a business major, but I also took many Ethics courses. In the contracts i’ve drawn up there is no “in between the lines”, I literally put every detail out there and completely highlight the terms. Even more so I actually go over the entire contract with potential signers to make sure they don’t just skim through and that I can answer any questions.

6:06 I think they require you to put in your information so you would have to go out and buy another card to go through free trial again, if you weren't required to put in information to confirm whether you already had your free trial or not most people would just click free trial over and over again so they can get free services. If people are just abusing free trial how would that company/service make money?

“Instant Ink” is why I decided NOT to buy another HP printer when my last one went out.
Notability one isn’t totally correct. I bought the app (prior to the new update where it became free) and I still have access to the 12 tools and cloud backup. I also got some new templates with the update without having to subscribe. The one problem I’m seeing is that you used to be able to buy sticker packs/templates with micro transactions but now you can only access them with the subscription, not a one time purchase :(

Ok, they did help me out in the end so I can't disrespect them too much but Oculus is all nice to you until you try to sign in on another device. First, their "Forgot Password" system doesn't really work. It never sends you an email. Second, when I went to sign in after contacting customer service and having them send me an email directly to reset my password, the merging system put me in an infinite loop of it telling me to verify me merging accounts (FB and Oculus) and then telling me I already did and to sign in with Facebook. I had to contact customer service again not 30 mins after and they told me to close the app and try again, it worked even though I had tried that multiple times. Again, I still love oculus products so I am not mad at them. It is a bit strange but maybe that is their way of verifying your commitment.
