Any idea how I can actually get into a game with players? I've been playing random battles for 3 or 4 days and have a Class V battleship but I've only been in 1 match that wasn't 90% bots. Is there just that few players or is the matchmaking system just arbitrarily deciding that I'm not good enough to play with real people yet?

"...Because I think Tarawa was a very understated battle..."
You haven't talked to Marines very much, have you?
Japan: Suffers heavy losses like at Midway, lies through their teeth-and spends many resources keeping up the lie-for the sake of morale.
USA: Suffers heavy losses here…but tells the truth, which actually DOES boost flagging morale.
Really shows the difference between a dictatorship and a republic.
More so the difference of perception in an offensive vs defensive war. In the mind of the US they were attacked and winning the war was a matter of "survival." Ergo if I'm loosing I need to give more
The Japanese on the other hand were fighting what was essentially a colonial war therefore any losses would run with the headline _Whole thing was a bad idea.._

@@HaloFTW55 those raids where by nonstate actors even if the government looked the other way
The last time you fought each other _so_ _far_ .
Yeah? That's literally what he meant
I mean...you're both saying the same thing?
Imagine being the guy to tell the families of 122 fallen US soldiers that their loved ones died during an attack on an empty island
You don't say that, you lie to them. Make it seem like what they done was important and vital to the war effort. That they died bravely and did not suffer and were amongst comrades in arms. You say the same you say for every war, despite the details.
That seems a lot more politically contentious than I mean it to be but it ain't aimed at the US in particular. That's more-or-less universal. Like, a 'police action' is a police action until enough of your boys die, then it becomes a war.
@@fuzzydunlop7928 well imagine if a person falls in a sewer and dies. But at his funeral no one will mention how his death was stupid. No, people will only talk the good things about him. It's the same here. People brag alot on politicians for being hypocritic and such but in reality they too arent very far from them. Its not an argument to defend the politicians but i think people are kinda hypocrites in a way that they dont notice when they lie but do when someone else does or think when they do it is "justified".
I wonder how the Japanese soldiers on those skipped islands felt lol, "shit the americans didnt kill us!"
We must now seppuku for shame of not being attacked

2:05 Thanks for mentioning that. I've heard SO many people say the Aleutians were the only time the US was invaded in WW2, but forget that it wasn't a state and that the Philippines, Guam, Wake, and others were also territories.
I think the big part of it was that the Aleutian’s were considered a part of North America. And it was sold that way to the US public. There were fears that the Japanese could hop along the Aleutian’s, take relatively undefended Anchorage and Seward (fun fact the US actually built bunkers in some of the cliffs surrounding each city) and then launch attacks easily to Seattle and further inland.
Of course the Japanese never had a rhyme or reason to do such a thing, but yet that wasn’t 100% certain at the time.
While Philippines was under US occupation at the time, it was being prepped for independence. Had not WWII broke out, Philippines was planned to be out of the commonwealth to it's own republic. That's probably why it wasn't often thought of as US territory.
Potential history: should I post a new Pacific war vid at 1:00 am?
Fans: YES
My great grandfather fought on Tarawa, thank you for mentioning it in more than passing.
When really diving deep into WWII I find that some of the most pivotal lessons or moments are ones that I've never heard of previously. Tarawa is both horrific and fascinating. Like the battle of the Coral Sea I'm not sure why it gets glossed over. It had a big impact on tactics and equipment that would be needed to move forward. The road to success wasn't very clear cut and I think people just like watching the highlight reel without seeing the hard work that got them there.

You should do a four part series on the eastern front 1942 in the style as your barrbarrossa one. the first video talking about the plans, Kharkov and the advance. Pt 2 on Stalingrad pt 3 on operation Uranus and the Caucasus withdrawal and pt 4 summarising the whole thing

I haven't seen any one else say it in the comments yet, so I will say it. Alaska and Hawaii were Incorporated territories of the United States, Guam wasn't and still isn't. In a legal sense that means Guam can't become a State while Alaska and Hawaii were already on the path to Statehood. Same goes for all the other unincorporated territories America had in the Pacific, including the Philippines.
