Guys like steve are hard to find, dudes an artist
Legit!
for real, absolute magician
People like that don’t get enough recognition, he does beautiful work. The amount of skill is insane
He's a caropractor!
Mad respect for collision/body techinicians guys like him are masters at this craft.
Best advert for this guys business he'll ever get.
I'd say 2nd best behind his work itself
It’s not good work by today’s standards. Slopping on seam sealer and spreading it with a paint brush is laziness. Not to mention filler over top of shiny ground metal… it won’t last. I cringed watching it, sadly. Seems like a good guy but he’s stuck in the past with his methods unfortunately.
@@UncleDale_ I'm glad someone pointed it out. I honestly have next to no knowledge with regards to body or sheet metal work, and Steve seems to be someone dedicated to his craft, but I felt like something's wrong with his methods. One of the reasons the Type-Rs are such mean handling machines, is the seam welds (as opposed to the more common spot welds) all around the body frame. Using seam sealant instead of seam welding back the quarter panel? I don't know man, it feels like that has become the weak spot of the chassis, doesn't seem sufficient to me. I'm all for saving the Type-R, but I'm not sure cutting the quarter panel out is the way.
"but I'm not sure cutting the quarter panel out is the way."
How else are you supposed to fix it?
Even if you were to pull it and everything, its lost its structural rigidity.
You need a new panel.
Also if you're worried about no welds on the quarterpanel, know that the Honda Civic Type R FD2R
was exclusive bonded together with glue to save weight and that car is rigid as fuck, so much that the 2008 model year had to have softer suspension because people complained the car was too stiff.
@@RaptureOnCloudNo.9
@@ppppw2 ty for correcting him lmao
Steve should start his own youtube channel. His work is very much detail oriented while most other youtubers are the build and go/will it run types of videos. Steve's work is very refreshing to watch
Agreed. For the fact that he went for the extra 3mm, be it because he is being videoed or not, imo, speaks to the calibre of work he does and/or puts out. I'd actually follow if he did one
@@alisterhemmings8121that’s how it should be if you’re a sheet metal guy. 👌
Unlike most CZcamsrs, Steve has a real job and probably doesn’t have time to record things all day.
@@James-po2svFunny how ppl think starting a channel is just doing exactly what you're doing now but with a camera, not realizing all the stuff we see on camera was curated and planned beforehand. Not to mention all the extra time on the computer now
agreed!
man tore all that sheet metal off without gloves, I would have bled to death
Lol was thinking the same dude is a beast.
Exact same thought!
Seems like Steve doesnt like gloves ... this guy must have hands of steel.
No gloves and a tank top doing all that body work is nuts😂
Did you see the man's hands?
If Wolverine was trying to live a Normal life he'd be Steve...
Wolvereve. Steverine
I had the exact same thought
@@supers0nic77thanks for this. I’m using this as his nickname from now on, steverine 😂
😂
Not sure if you guys went to film school or not, but I applaud your skills in not only camera work/cinematography, but also the way you move the narrative along and tell a compelling story without any pandering BS
i think both bens are film school grads
Holy shit no lie! Was just about to comment on the editing until I saw your comment. Not even for CZcams, this is high end quality stuff. Bravo.
You know what, the audio choices made in all your films doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s one of the reasons the emotions these pieces bring out hit so hard.
It’s an underrated part of your brand that is above a lot of other creators of internet content.
Ayo fr. 1974 by Marie had me movin
I agree
That one handed wheel pull off
Dudes a monster. Look at his arms..

@@UnknownUser_0000 probably could pull the frame by hand but uses the machine to be precise
This!
You know... you drive past places like Steve's often, but rarely stop to think about the kind of masterful expertise and craftsmanship that happen inside. I think a lot of people would see the absolute unit of a man Steve is, and not give a second thought to the precision work he does. Kudos to the hard working folks at Choice Collision!
Nice to see this process versus “so we got the civic back from the body shop”
The mastercraft of STEVE... it's insane PURE ART
My best friend is a body man. He's been doing it since he was 14 years old, he's 57 now. I've seen ppl come in that shop over the years who were just ungrateful and cheap skates. This work is hard! I know cause I've done it myself, under the auspices of my friend, to build my dream car on a rotisserie. It took me 6 years to finish with life getting in the way at times. This guy made it look easy, he is a pro and guys like him in this industry DESERVE every penny they honestly quote you. Great video G&G🏆💪
the craftmanship of Steve is on the next level, he's a rockstar of body repairs🎉
I really respect the "It's in spec but I'm not happy with it. I want it perfect" True dedication to the trade
I feel like this will be $40-50k with all the repairs and parts hahaha
Not that much, but it only makes sense for them having a CZcams channel
Another $100,000 STI :) Great content though.
This car will never be the same. This car is a banana.
Oh yeah, but they get to make several videos of Content so they will end up in the green
Maybe not that much for regular car... but that episode shows perfectly why modern cars are being totaled by the insurances so easily... Amount of labor to make it right is very expensive (plus parts, paint, painting, prep, etc)
14:22 Landline phone clipped to the pocket is baller
The manliest man that's ever been on the channel.
Steven has pretty insane grip strength. And probably other strength. What a unit.
That guy knocked it out of the park. His attention to detail is next level. What a transformation
I replaced a quarter panel one time so I really appreciate how hard it is
Im sold...nobody does it better than Steve. 🤝
The grinder noises syncing up to the music is next level
The part where he cuts off the extra bits of the new rear quarter panel?
Good work , but I don’t think so about replacing spot weld with glue, it’s not what Honda recommends to do as far of the replacement procedure for 1/4 , the rigidity not gonna be the same especially if it’s gonna go back on the truck , with all that body roll , that glue can split because there’s no weld in the door jam area where the rocker is and 1/4 glass is , he only weld it where where he put body filler, I’ll would recommend to go to specialty shop
Steve is an artist! Dudes a pro, beautiful work
5:47 spilled my drink after seeing Steve drop the headlight assembly lol. Man's got jokes!
Get this guy on the channel
Never thought I'd be so engrossed with a frame stretch vid, also, real cool shot at 20:18!
Steve's body work is almost as good as his form on that pull-up! What a beast. 5-star Yelp review for Steve's body shop & gym.
I could watch Steve work all day
The Calm energy Steve gives off in those clips are amazing. I would have nothing but anger and exhaustion in my face.
Really hard to find body guys like Steve nowadays. People who genuinely care about the quality of their work. Big ups to him!
You can really tell Steve is passionate about his work
Steve's a legend, and I love the fact that he's got his vape in 90% of shots
Really refreshing to see things being repaired instead of replaced.
big respect for Steve, this is his passion and you can tell
It’s always a pleasure to watch a master in action performing his choice of craft. The attention to detail, the tips and tricks, the experience and knowledge they display, always amazing to me :)
I APPLAUD THIS EPISODE !!! No dragging it dude was perfect for the video 10000% loved this content
Insane metal work by Steve. Dude is one of the best I've ever seen! Can't wait to see this beauty finished!
Good as new! We used to "skin" panels back in the day. Hammer the areas around the filler neck and door sills. Then weld a good panel right over the damage. Sometimes it would help alignment because the new panel holes could be used as mounting points to hold it in place while welding.
Always amazing to watch tradesman like this. Insane amount of tools, talent and work to get this even remotely close to what it was out of the factory.
I'm so glad you guys are working on fun cars again. This + the Evo is what makes this channel exciting, not the quirky cars.
Steve’s a UNIT!
K swap?😂😂
It has a k already
@@NoGames0891 OMG THANK YOU FOR CLARIFYING
Already has a K series 😢
It’s already a k, and with a turbo charger. K20c
He should k swap it
This guy is badass, its amazing to watch frame and body guys do work
In awe at Steve's work, also at his traps, and holy shit pulling straight metal with his hands
Best restoration work ever, and yet the best cinematic scenes ever captured. Thumbs up!
Guys like Steve are an increasing dying breed. This type of industry needs saving.
After many years of being a mechanic and jumping into the body shop world you learn A LOT of things and this man is simply a Stud. Reminds me a lot of my old boss, aka 2nd dad. LOL
Thanks for bringing more exposure to the panel crafters!
Side note: Body work isn't as scary as it seems. Just grab a bigger hammer.
Experienced body shop guys are truly artists, you love to see it
You guys always find the best people for these jobs
The transitions in this video were immaculate. Smooth and relaxing. Great video guys!!
Some specialist skills right there, rare to find this level of work. Incredible to watch him at work. 👏🏾
Bro's crash is gonna be seared into everyone's brain until it becomes a pavlovian response
That soft “Ughhhh” gets me every time
Dang this guy is good. Real good
Steve is such an icon. I am a few hundred miles too far away to be a customer but that work speaks for itself!
Man you guys sure know how to capture the right things on film. I feel like I just went to college for body work watching Steve showcase the steps. What an artist, definitely needs to start his own channel if he hasn't already.
This is the equivalent to Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid growing up. Get excited every Saturday for the new video drop 🙌
Yes sir I as well.
You ain't never lie. 😂😂 big facts. And with a big bowl of cereal.
Really great saturday morning, thank you G&G
Easily one of my favorite Continental Tire ads of all time! Well done team! Lots of hard work and dedicated workmanship in this episode, looks like you all connected with someone who truly takes pride in what they produce!
This video was perfect. An interesting character that's clearly very experienced, is pretty good in front of a camera and is relatable. (He's living a risky life, though. No gloves, no sleeves, no guards, no glasses half the time.).
And his Continental ad is pretty much the best Continental ad I've ever seen, including the high budget TV ads.
Steve is a wizard, that level of arcane knowledge is rare these days.
Does Steve bend the frames back into place by hand? Dude looks stronger than a frame jig
Can we just all agree Steve is a hoss
I admire people that can work at something this complex and talk in such a calm manner. It almost feels as if he doesn't care, but oh boy he does care. He cares a lot. It's his passion, it's clear to see.
11pm in Australia. About to go to sleep. G&G upload a video. I’m up for another 30 mins
same lol
welcome to the club!
That was ART
I love seeing people who are masters at their craft, and are skilled with their hands, do their work. Awesome video.
Love seeing these types of videos showing the art of people like Steve do. Reminds me of the videos with Automotive Aesthetic detailing videos. Gives an appreciation and more respect for people in the automotive industry 🙌🏽🙌🏽
5:54 😄
Kinda worried he didn’t use any weld through primer. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a body shop guy but rust always worries me.
This was the first thing I noticed as well!!! He applied some structural glue, but there are still a lot of exposed metal where the panels were sanded!!!!! Steve has done a great job, but its the small details like this that just makes me think he is not high up there in terms of quality.
Sheet metal pulling - a true satisfaction 😇
Steve is surely a master in his craft.
WAIT FOR EPISODE 3 it's awesome to see the process of restoration the body parts.
Whatever you are paying that guy to do that, isn't enough. That skill is rare
It was satisfying to watch the rear quarter panel get fixed. As always, great episode!
I think this comment section goes to show the craftsmanship of Steve, mad respect for the beautiful work he did on this holy moly! Loved watching him fix every tiny bit.
This is why I love youtube channels like this! Guys like Steve would never get the coverage that they deserve. His attention to detail is insane. Can tell he takes pride in everything that he does. Need to see more of his work!
Cam is such an amazing cinematographer, i am in love with these shots. the painting montage was beautiful, whoever edited that man you are the greatest
Love shops like this!!great work . Thank you for you passion and dedication to this community and project
The moment he spoke in metric units, I was hooked.
Steve is a legend and an artist in repairing wrecked cars
Never realized how much body repair is art until this video, awesome to watch.
The body shop guy is 1 in a million. You can't find body shops that are this meticulous and produce great work anymore. This man is body shop legend
Loved this episode. Truly saving this type r, and showing off the amazing work people like Steve do 👏🏽
Awesome video as always Ben. Steve is one awesome guy truly an artist and a true craftsman.
The video editing, the music choice, description of what one is doing is amazing!
Going to be my favorite series besides roadtrip and deep cleaning series. Awesome job Steve!
Just one word… “Amazing” The pristine work that went into this is just amazing!
I’ve watched your channel for a long time now. Your videos are getting better and better. Steve is a magician. Start to finish!
One of the best videos on frame/body work I have seen on Ytube, awesome work!
Steve is a dying breed. Not enough individuals want to spend the time to apprentice to this unique trade of body and collision in the auto industry.
Thanks for sharing. I'm excited to see the end result!
Actually my favorite video since you started the channel, great job Steve!
Steve is like a gentle bear working on body panels.
He should be a regular in your channel!
That Boost Pearl Blue looks so good on the Type R. But championship White looks amazing too!
master of his craft. the cinemtography is true incredible. great job capturing steve in his element
This was easily one of the most interesting videos you guys have uploaded to me. Loved seeing all the body work stuff getting done.
Love to see this exposure for Steve and his shop! Great work!
Steve’s patience and dedication to the whole project was incredible, and admirable
been watching you guys for quite a while now and i’ve never stopped to say, the quality and cinematic feel of each video is really something I feel like you don't get enough credit for. Each video feels like a mini docu series which I very much appreciate, much love to you guys.
Steve is a master of his craft, and sure as hell is about the "doin it right" mentality. Sure it can be "within spec" but wouldn't be up to his standards, a real good dude I'd trust with any of my cars!
Such a joy to watch the build! Can't wait to watch the next episode
