- Episode Metal is a Total Conversion Mod for Sonic CD created by Jackelzxa.
Metal Sonic replaces Sonic as a playable character with his own abilities, and Sonic now becomes a potential boss fight. Amy Rose replaces Tails, she also has her own abilities, and must be unlocked if you don't have Tails unlocked already.
Metal Sonic and Amy Rose's Sprites are Homemade by PicsAndPixels~, based on the Sonic CD original designs. The creator (Jackelzxa) had done the Mod Scripting, while handling most of the Boss Sprites, Menus, Sound/Music edits, and NPC Interactions.
Metal Sonic: Air Dash
Slightly lower speed than a normal run (No homing, just an air dash). Metal also has specific rules on his Spindash and Peelout.
Amy Rose: Double Jump
An additional jump that is slightly lower. The creator didn't want to rely on using Advance Movesets so it's now different. Amy also exclusively uses the Sega CD version of the Spindash.
The goal was to create balanced characters that are based on their 16-bit incarnations (Which means no Pico Pico Hammer) and try to stick to simple, one button movesets, like Mighty and Ray have in Sonic Mania.

So typically I would just do a couple of random zones, but then thought why not go all out, start to finish, if anything, this is actually the first time I'm doing a 100% run on the 2011 version. The last portion after finishing the game with Metal Sonic is basically a short gameplay preview of Amy. In this version, she currently is about 70% finished, but I'm thinking now I might end up doing a full game run with her once the mod becomes 100% complete!

I think something else that could be done is giving him the invincibility and spike destroying in his version of the peel out like he does in the race. Sounds busted, but maybe it comes at the cost of making him slower... at least that's what I'd do if it was in the actual game (SEGA YOU LISTENING?!), for a mod I guess you just make him busted lol.

I was hoping the Cartoon would be reanimated or replaced. But I know that'd be WAY too hard to pull off. Also it's just so unbelievable someone would go through this much trouble to make a metal mod. A FULL Conversion Mod.

@@rriverderch7035 yeah since animating something in a game and adding it in the code replacing the previous is really hard (as if coding wasn't hard enough)
Since metal sonic can fly his special stage should reduce the timer faster, but he shouldn't lose time flying over water since he's not touching it
I think reducing the time faster may bring more issues, but it certainly is possible to play with the water not affecting the timer since time attack mode isn't affected when Sonic runs on the water.
I think it'd be an programming nightmare to be honest.

That's super sick, I've been saying why can't Sega do this for Sonic Origins. Mighty, Ray, Amy, and Metal Sonic could easily and totally be playable, and it's a shame people won't get these mods because of the delisting happening today. Everyone says "that's stupid they're not in the originals" not the point, for us veterans we'd like new ways to play and this is a good way to do it. It is a shame though, I was hoping his version of the peel out would function like in the race, maybe he's slower than Sonic a bit but he is granted invincibility, this is one way Sega themselves could avoid making him just a palette swap... but no they can't even do what a modder can and just make a palette swap, they can't even make Knuckles be in CD... annnnyways rambling aside this is super cool and Origins blows.

Using drugs?... or you know whatever? lol because yes there's other stuff to use besides drugs that would make me a madman. Also no it isn't, and I kept it brief, that's just one of the flaws with Origins I found before it came out... not even mentioning how crappy they are POST LAUNCH, they're a sham and shell of what they were, how Sega could screw these games up is beyond me, the easiest and laziest way would be just grabbing the existing ports and shove them together... but no, not Sega, they will find anyway to ruin their games.
Also what I stated was true, will admit it's a bit of a mess. However my point was, yeah Sega could easily do this, if a single fan by themselves can make a custom Metal Sonic and Amy playstyle (she even uses her hammer in one of Origins cutscenes, she didn't need it, this mod proves she can work without it, she doesn't need it like in the advanced or adventure games... but stands to point more reasons as to why couldn't Sega put her in as playable? They could've ripped her move set from the advanced games), than surely the company THAT OWNS THESE CHARACTERS... can with ease and a team that is highly capable of doing such things. No they couldn't even add Knuckles to CD, and they butcher the games even further, just like the DS remakes of these games, they just find a way to ruin things.
They're already using Mania assets, Mighty and Ray predate these games, so why couldn't they have made it in either? Team Chaotix, maybe that's asking for too much, but they could've brought them along too. For that price tag, they should've and could've added way more games instead of just 4, Mega Collection did everything Origins did, but with 15 games instead of 4 at the same price of 40$ (and yes I mean 4, 3&K is being sold in Origins as 1 game, not 2, the only way you can play them is the combined experience). These games sold on consoles and Steam for 5$ each, that's a total of 20$, mobile ports for tablet and phones were free or you could pay 2$ each for them totaling 6$ (because 3&K wasn't in mobile stores)... until they delisted them, bottlenecking expensive Origins as being the only way to buy these games, and they're inferior to the other versions anyways, so many bugs, they fucked up the drop dash, they cut the menus, among so many other things.
... pheeew, Origins... mmm, Origins is a shitty game collection that somehow TRIES to be bad, because the easiest and laziest way would just be slapping the existing ones together... but no, again they cut them down so they're somehow worse when they should at the bare minimum be exactly the same as the 2011 remake of CD, 12 remake of Sonic 1, and 13 of Sonic 2, BARE MINIMUM, not to mention all the other things they could've and should've done, once again adding new characters, even as palette swaps, the easiest and laziest way to do that, even if modders proved you CAN do more... but nope, Sega does what Ninten-do should be their new tagline.

Also should be mentioned I blame Sega, not Taxman, Stealth, or their team, hell I would bet money this is why Taxman left Sega last year, Stealth staying behind to make sure Sega doesn't screw up, because they were doing this with or without them, and even then they still screwed it up. Sega isn't Konami, EA, or Square Enix bad... but they should still be ashamed to call themselves a company after this, no wait they are starting to be that bad, the 5$ DLC that's essentially gacha, pay to win, for lazy or unknowing people to unlock everything in the game without playing the game, and then they announce NFTs... Sega is becoming that bad.

I know the mod isn't finished, but I feel Amy could use better and more sprites. Just having the running animation just be the sped up walking sprites isn't the way to go. I also feel Amy could look a bit more cheerful on the signpost.

Metal Sonic's jump in regular classic sonic games sounds exactly like the CD jump so nothing needs to be changed
