  • This is just a little scene that enthusiasts don't see very often - starting up and moving off after overnight storage. The long period of engine revving is building up the air pressure system, as the brakes depend on this and in any case 235's air-operated preselector gearbox doesn't like changing gear unless there's at least 75 psi (pounds per square inch) in the system.
Then you'll hear me checking with my son if the door has been opened high enough for 235 to emerge, and finally we move off. Not exactly exciting, but a little tableau and in any case with some nice AEC sounds.

What a treat, i remember these buses and they were run by Rochdale not greater Manchester and run on time.

I WAS a Rochdale conductor in the late 60s! This particular one is showing 17t, a Chesham Avenue turn back. And nearly everyone that got on tried to book through! Nobody ever read the front Destination board! Sigh!
