When you talk about Indian film making it can neither be completed without south Indian films nor be competed with south films. For God sake, bollywood just learn something from Tamil/Malayalam/Kannada/Telugu movies. Movies is not just about bikinis!
You seem to associate Bollywood with only the mainstream commercial films. That's like saying South Indian films are only the mindless over the top action films which are always made fun of.
You seem to forget that there is a whole other category of quality cinema in bollywood as well like andhadhun, lunchbox, tumbbad, masaan ........... the list is endless

There are brilliant films in Bollywood as well like gangs of wasseypur, lunchbox, masaan, kahani, paan singh tomar, ship of theseus, andhadhun, lagaan, rang de basanti, taare zameen par, salaam Bombay, mard ko dard nahi hota, sonchiriya, munna bhai series, a death in the gunj, khosla ka ghosla, oye lucky lucky oye, Shanghai, newton, stree, Peepli live, pyaasa, kaagaz ke phool, ek hasina thi and many many more. I can bet you, the people shitting on Bollywood havent even watched all of these films. Bollywood has been making great films forever. Just that they dont get enough attention.
It's just thay most of the movies that churn millions at the box office are shit. But there is a lot of good cinema in Bollywood as well.
For south indian films, you have film companion south. This channel is for hindi and international movies.
There is a long list of Great films from Bollywood (Hindian Cinema) which needs recognition everybody thinks of bad films when Bollywood word comes in Mind

We only look at stars and forget about the directors who actually make these stars.. We are not hating the content they make. We are against the MAFIA mentality, who dont let realistic actors / realistic filmmakers / technicians succeed in making a film. Audience wants to see great art, but there are people like Johar who give chance to a Tiger Shroff / Siddhart Malhotra.
Why people are seeing movies that does not make sense 1 hour into the movie and watch the next movie they make which is as worse as their previous movies. The movies that majority of bollywood filmmakers make are from their imagination and somehow they convince the public it's what they enjoy. Public are fools to tolerate it for so long. If only public gradually learn that cinema is more about filmmakers artistic vision based on reality and less about family entertainer and relieving tension then better cinema will prevail. Then 8 out of those 10 directors will have to improve and change their approach or leave it to competent people who take their work seriously and to new heights.
@@FinnolaThats because majority of people in India are poor, they have their own problems and want to escape through silly happy hero centric movies.. Even Hollywood makes those silly movies too. All those Super Human Marvel movies are like our own Simba, Singham, Dabang. I dont think its going to change any sooner.. Even Talented directors in Hollywood are complaining that they are not getting theatres when Avengers type movies release.

This is just biased having majority from one industry. Yes the audience has normalized and tolerate their work that it becomes good cinema. But it's not entirely audience fault when filmmakers have a myopic view of reality and choose to do films from their imagination. If they make mediocre movie and promote with so much enthusiasm then the audience will react the same way. At least filmmakers should change their perspectives when the world is changing and there's access now to see movies from different parts of country and world.
