1)be sure about story and proceed to give it structure(screenplay)
2)character and story should progress together
3)use effective dialogue
4)structure given(linear or non linear)
5)visual(imagery well written)

You can't say actually bcoz there are movies like django unchained and Pulp Fiction which have average story but have some memorable characters and on the other hand a movie like inception where story is the main part instead of characters. So it depends on which way you wanna go, u can go the either way. It depends on your comfortness

thanks sir...i am confused...when story is written by someother person, screenplay is done by somether person, acting done by actors....wat does director do....the job of director is like a captain of ship ? Managing the whole crew, editors, actors, writer, cinematographer, and giving the vision to the movie ? I am confused, please advice...
