      I get it in some instances that have nothing to do with your mods but I totally understand why they don’t if it’s most likely related. If you put on different suspension, custom wheels and spacers and your car starts making noise, most likely you did that. The minute they touch it, they could become liable for things. A lot of mechanics will turn you down for stuff like that.

    • @JacesOwnWorld
      @JacesOwnWorld Před 2 měsíci +1

      It honestly depends on the brand. VW absolute trash. They even give us modified owners a difficult time in replacing parts that have been recalled. But BMW never gave me a hard time on my modified E46 M3. Maybe that’s because the employees always loved seeing the car and would give me more “special” treatment. Not sure. But there weren’t ever any questions asked on that car.

    As a dealership tech. I hate this. Do you know how annoying it is doing warranty diag for chassis/suspension noise on a car that has aftermarket suspension components? It's extremely annoying, and a waste of time. Since the car made this noise from the get-go; the obvious idea would be to take it in to get remedied BEFORE modifying the suspension geometry. Even wheel spacers can be an issue since it changes the track width of the car. This would be the same thing if someone had a big turbo tuned b58 or whatever and came in for a warranty engine replacement because there is a known issue with the early oil pumps; I'm not going to have a warranty claim get denied and not get paid for replacing an engine, because the owner didn't at least put his car back to stock before going to the dealer.

    • @M3FortiZay
      @M3FortiZay Před 2 měsíci +7

      Totally agree. I know it’s boring, but that’s why I leave my cars stock until the warranty expires. If you’re modding and your mods have anything related to the warranty claim, you know it’s going to be a fight. Once you start modding you should understand you’re essentially voiding your warranty with that component of the car. I think this is why BMW started locking the DME. People would tune, blow up stuff, and then go and try to do warranty claims. So now when you tune the car and blow your engine, there is no fight. Warranty automatically voided and they can see that “you” did it. Still sucks tho lol because now I have to jump through hoops to tune after my warranty has expired.

    • @JasonLitman
      @JasonLitman Před 2 měsíci +2

      I think it's safe to assume any/all modifications will make a warranty related issue that much more difficult to have go your way, especially when it has any connection mechanically & (more importantly) diagnostically. If their (dealer) systems indicate any basis for a claim denial, I don't doubt the software system itself (previously ISTA+ in my case on F22) adds redundancies to aid that claim being denied. So many parenthesis here I know 😂

    Hey, I enjoy your videos, but I figured I would comment on the red brake caliper option statement you made at 2:03. It says "M Compound" red brake calipers. The M compound portion would likely be the different brake material used i.e. potentially causing this issue. Also Pagid and Akebono make really good high quality products so its shocking to find they are causing vibrations when braking. Glad you got it resolved, but it sucks BMW isn't really stepping up and owning the issue.

    Akebono usually comes as OEM on JDM cars, and PAGID is the OEM for german cars, they are both very good brands, most likely there was an issue with the specs akebono got from BMW for those specific pads, which is why the vibration happens, but who knows, could be akebono's fault as well.

    Red and blue have same pads here up north so it’s not an issue with just red ones.

  • @oficina_moomoo
    @oficina_moomoo Před 2 měsíci

    Sounds like pad deposits. If the red calipers come with a different pad maybe that compound is more likely to put deposits on the rotors. It is weird though that when changed to different pads it eliminates the product immediately though, I could see it going away eventually as the deposits get evened out

    • @VehicleVirals
      @VehicleVirals  Před 2 měsíci

      The issue never went away. Even after trying to bed in the pads multiple times.

    • @oficina_moomoo
      @oficina_moomoo Před 2 měsíci

      Depending on how many pad deposits could take a while. Unless you switched to a track pad with a harder compound then it will accelerate the removal of deposits and even then can still take a minute. This happens a lot to people that take stock pads to the track. Funny enough its happened to me now even though I took track pads to the track but maybe did not bed em enough.

    • @oficina_moomoo

    • @doggodproductions2259
      @doggodproductions2259 Před 2 měsíci

      It *should* work, from looking at the screens. Are you talking original M2 or Comp/CS?
      I have a CS, the fender liners are identical to the Comp, but I'm near certain that the Competition has redesigned fender liners compared to the original M2, there's more ducting from the front bumper (same brake calipers and rotor size between Comp and CS, only difference being the carbon ceramic rotors, but the OG M2 is likely different cause it never got the 6 piston calipers, or the front bumper redesign with the extra air channels).
      Worst case, you could use the same screen, just trimmed down a bit (IF it's even necessary to trim them).
      What size are you running?
      I'm on standard offset on my Volk Wheels, but running 285/35 rear and 255/35 front, on 19x9.5 F and 19x10.5 R. So a bit wider than stock, no rubbing yet, though

      @@ixD9 ironically DS2500 are also considered a bit of a toy pad in Europe as well, no one uses them on circuit. Mind you it’s all relative, I suppose anything can feel good until you’ve had something better.

      @@mitchdaytonam3 No doubt. I was using DS2500 back in 2005. I tried it again on an FR-S in 2014 and it felt like a toy compared to Carbotech. Brake pad tech has evolved SO much over the last 20 years.

    I appreciate your passion for the new M cars but BMW had much better cars and way better dealer service 20 years ago. It was also before BMW sold out and started throwing “///M” badges on base model and other non-M cars. And the dealers are terrible these days. Seven trips to have my E46 airbag recall completed and it’s still not installed correctly. I also had a dealer commit insurance fraud instead of repairing my X5 driveshaft under warranty.

    • @Erickguitar16
      @Erickguitar16 Před 2 měsíci

      I had a similar experience. I felt like they wanted me to lie to my extended warranty. Because they messed up and told me I was covered. When I was not. They end up doing all the repairs in goodwill.

    To all of those who have not been following this guy, this guy is very misleading talking about the vibration issue on his new M2. He tries to put the blame on BMW for not fixing the issue when BMW actually did take his car on multiple occasions and told this guy to do certain things. Long story short, this guys M2 has been modified, and BMW was doing normal Dx’s so that they could rule out his modifications as being the cause. Because he had modifications, especially to the suspension, BMW did not want to claim this as a warranty issue or tackle the job themselves without doing proper Dx’s.
    This guy took that “personal” and tries to blame BMW for not fixing it, while at the same time putting BMW down. Make it make sense guy…
    So before you go on believing this guys story, I just wanted to let you know the actual facts behind this guy’s complaints.

      You can spin it however you want to spin it. I took the car to the dealership multiple times and did everything they asked me to do. Several hours at the dealership each and every time without even looking at what the obvious issue might have been, the pads, the rotors. They told me the spacers at the time were the issue and asked me to take them off and then bring the car back. Then they blamed it on the strut tower braces because of incorrect preload. They asked me to put the OEM ones back on and bring it back. And at that point we can move forward. Again, that was ruled out. Then they blamed it on the car being too low because of the HAS kit. They asked me to raise the car to its factory height, and so I did. Do you see the trend here. I even offered to pay them to check the brakes (since they didn't even want to examine or measure them) and if there was something wrong with them, I would get reimbursed. Others were having the same issue and we're getting their claims approved nationwide. This issue was going on before the mods and I had video proof of it. No reason to question my integrity. I have nothing to lie about.

  • @gibby3820
    @gibby3820 Před 2 měsíci

    Pretty clickbaity to claim you were getting the run around, other things were blamed, didnt want to fix etc. when you very well know they were willing to work on the car, they just cannot work on modified cars; even gave you the option to cover it after removing the mods. Can't believe I'm still hearing about this tbh

    • @VehicleVirals
      @VehicleVirals  Před 2 měsíci

      Did you watch the previous 2 videos on this issue? They blamed the spacers, I pulled them off. They blamed the strut tower braces, I replaced them with the oem ones. Then they blamed the suspension and at that point I decided to take matters into my own hand.
