  • Live from a concert at Week-end Musical de Pully, played by pianist Martin Jollet. Work by Beatrice Berrut, commissioned by the Week-end Musical de Pully.
A Cepheid is a type of variable star that pulsates radially, varying in both diameter and temperature. It changes in brightness, with a well-defined stable period and amplitude. Cepheids are important cosmic benchmarks for scaling galactic and extragalactic distances. A strong direct relationship exists between a Cepheid variable's luminosity and its pulsation period.
This piece revolves around the idea of time and of distance, playing with different textures, with rescaling the melodic material, and with periods of expansion of the brightness, as well a inward-looking moments, which both aim to draw a musical portrait of these stars, the characteristics of which have been discovered by a wonderful female scientist : Henrietta Swan Leavitt.

Not without mistakes BUT excellent interpretation (of this great work).

Where can one find the score for this beautifully evocative work?

Hi, it isn’t published yet, as it will be part of a bigger cycle for piano - and I am not done yet with composing the other pieces 😊 But I’ll keep you posted ! Best wishes, Beatrice
