Santana's first album and this one are noted for their transitions from one song to the next and the flow is SO artistic and flowing. The entire album should be listened to complete with no breaks. If you do that you will hear what I mean. Brilliant.
First album changed my life! I was 11 in 1970 and my older brother bought the eight track, turned on his black light and pop it in…..and from the first note, from the first song from the first lp….I was hooked! Nothing compares to that first lp!!!!
Went to San Francisco 75 saw B.B.King at the Winterland and he introduced Carlos as a guest. After long wait at stage door I was lucky to meet him and he signed my British passport. Love his playing.
He said he knows a few songs from Carlos. This is his signature since, I think 1970. Nr. 2 for me " Black magic woman" ! I can't remember more songs in the moment. There's been a song with Blondie aka Debbie Harry. One of the most melodious guitarist in the world. Latin blood!!! 👍🫡❤️ Love Carlos since my birth in '72. Papa played this to get me calm as a baby. In Austria btw.!
This is the ORIGINAL and BEST lineup of Santana's Band. If you really wanna see how amazing this band truly was, watch the Santana 'Tanglewood' Live Performance. You're in for a treat. NEW SUB from the SF Bay Area Cali.
That organ in the background was Gregg Rolie who later joined with Neal Schon (who was also in this band) and formed Journey. They later came back and did a SANTANA IV album.
First song Carlos wrote and of course it's an instrumental. There is an endless wealth of his work out thrre. Strongly suggest you explore it. Timeless and never gets old only grows on you. Such feeling in EVERY NOTE.
Thank you for taking the time to reply back. Means a lot to me. Yes, magical is an apt description. I find it spiritual also. Reaches down into my soul and finds that good spot and fills me with goodness and mercy. Like the sound of Karen Carpenters voice. Brings tears to my eyes. He puts so much emotion into his work. Please listen to "Europa" on his "Moonflower" album. A good example. Whole album is wonderful. Again, thank you. Bless you. Have a super Sunday and good luck with your show!
Thnx, this makes me very happy! Carlos is a guitar God! Won 9 Grammy’s for his “Supernatural” album, only Michael Jackson has done that. Keep reacting to Santana and I’ll keep watching. Thank you……SanJoséBob
my all time fave percussion section. and this is his 2 nd group, the Woodstock era. Seems Carlos changes sections every few years.... there's a uTube video this group in concert , an hour + of pretty high video & audio Quality. Tanglewood. (Boston ) is it 1970 ? they also got a recording of a fine near unknown SF band, Beautiful day. their song 'White Bird' is a real classic.
See Santana at Wembley arena London in 2006 , what a day that was , gods honest truth, I'd booked tickets around 6 months before, And had wanted to see Santana for years and years, just my luck my football team ( west ham) only go and reach the fa cup final on the same day!!! ( first time since 1980!) In bloody Wales as Wembley stadium was under a rebuild, couldn't make it up lol
Fabulous guitar player, and a great live band, it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. There's a John Lee Hooker track called, The Healer that has Carlos playing guitar, it's pretty good, though it sounds like it's the other way round and it's a Santana track JLH sings on. There's also a short set on You Tube of John Lee Hooker, Carlos Santana and Etta James playing live together that's phenomenal. Highly recommended!
Most people don't believe me when I tell them that his music along with this one was played on the rock station. Like the Mighty Met meaning... KMET in L.A.
In the 60s in London we looked at EVERYTHING - rock, blues, jazz, folk, the crooners like Sinatra, classical and on and on. It was because we were inquisitive. Today, they listen to what they are fed and it is a very poor diet of the most simplistic, uninspired, repetitive “music” you can imagine. No one in the 60s would have bought that stuff. Just look at the feature films produced today - everyone would have walked out of the cinema in the past. Also.the level of general ignorance is astonishing. They know little about history etc, and so many can hardly hold a conversation. The language of Shakespeare has been reduced to that of a Neanderthal. It is very sad, and worrying for the future.
I can never decide which I liked more, Santana's version of Black Magic Woman or Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, in terms of purity I'm leaning towards the Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac rendition.
Listen to brightest star Zbop Somewhere in heaven Praise live in Berlin with Buddy Miles Love them from Spartacus Swing of delight You have 50 year of his music Caravansri the whole album is a must The same with bobroletta Sprit dancing in the flesh
Really liked your reaction. Believe me when I say you have to react to Transcendence by Santana (studio version of the song). I will not give anything away about this song.
When I was young (many, many years ago) lol Just about everyone bought vinyl albums...not singles. And of course, there was no spotify or any of the other ways folks liisten to songs today. That's the reason you haven't heard so much of the older artist's catalogs...not your fault, really. Just a different way people consue music today. (Of course I prefer the old way...listen to entire albums) 🙂
We're middle aged ourselves. I had a singles collection in the 80's, when I DJ'd, along with a crate full of LP's. CD's, then mp3's, changed the landscape while I was still collecting music. In effect, killing my need, as a DJ, to collect full albums. Shame. I could have learned so much.
@@hanierfamily Right, I am so old I forgot about the mp3 era. That definitely killed the idea of people listening to whole albums. To this day, most of my favorites are "album tracks". Hits are rarely my favorites...partly because of over exposure. Good luck w/the youtube channel.
I am not sure if you can venture into the araea of extended concept songs. I will lay this one out for you it is certainly worthy. Kevin Ayers "The confesssions of Dr dream. pt1-Irreversible neutral damge-4.44 minutes, pt 2-Invitation-1.12 minutes Pt3- The one chance dance 7.49 minutes Pt 4 -DR dream theme 5.12 minutes
Hey guys heres a nice pleasent one fromt the major talent of the velvet underground after they broke up John cale had the artistry. I just paid $78 dollars ffor the album "Paris 1919" please play the featured song Paris 1919
Samba Pa Ti, is Portuguese for "Samba For You", and it's one of the most beautiful love songs ever, imho! I still remember the words a critic wrote about this back in the day, he said it was Santana's way of searching for the soul of the Universe, and I couldn't agree more ;?)
One of the finest and most beautiful songs ever. Carlos shined on this studio version. He shined on everything but this is a special song.
She gets it.
Right...lol
But not him...
@@horstschafer1839 Yeah he DOESN'T get it, his, "It's nice" is ridiculous, lol ;?)

Agreed, the Tanglewood concert is Santana at their very best.
Santana was one of those very few artists that sounded GREAT both in the studio and live
That organ in the background was Gregg Rolie who later joined with Neal Schon (who was also in this band) and formed Journey. They later came back and did a SANTANA IV album.
I remember back in High School in 1975
slow dancing to this Song . ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I loved her reaction!!
Europa is another great Santana instrumental.
First song Carlos wrote and of course it's an instrumental. There is an endless wealth of his work out thrre. Strongly suggest you explore it. Timeless and never gets old only grows on you. Such feeling in EVERY NOTE.
We really love his sound. Magical.

Santana should be live.
What a fade out. Like chasing the ice cream truck .
サンタナの中で1番好きな曲です。ギターが泣いていますね🌹
Santana was my 1st ever concert. Late 1972, Freddie King opened the show.
One of my top ten songs. Headspace music.
Thnx, this makes me very happy! Carlos is a guitar God! Won 9 Grammy’s for his “Supernatural” album, only Michael Jackson has done that. Keep reacting to Santana and I’ll keep watching. Thank you……SanJoséBob
We definitely want to hear more from Carlos.
A great musician 👏

Are you ready for this.........I saw a top 20 guitarists list (rolling stone ?) and Santana was #17...... YIKES ! Impossible.
Thank You, check out Carlos doing this live in concert in México City. 🎸👍

Sounds like Rock to us.
Played on Rock stations in Boston MA and Gainesville FL as well.
One of my favorite instrumentals. Thank you for your reaction.
You need to watch them live where they expand their songs
In an interview one time Carlos said that women come up to him all the time and tell him they got pregnant because of this music.
The post song commentary made up for the intro.,-----great job.....get some sleep.......will keep watching........
Excellent music from The Santana band! Carlos guitar tone is unmistakable unique!

Europa is a magical track.
Great great choice....how good is this band live...? saw them in around 76..Black Magic women maybe cliche but gets me every time... thanks.

We already love that song. When Cynthia danced, we'd put this on and cha cha cha a little. Gorgeous

Please listen to Soul Sacrifice (Woodstock). Blow your mind with Santana
That performance was one of our favourite drum solos. Michael Shrieve just tore that stage up during Soul Sacrifice. We love it.
Samba Pa Ti= Samba (dance) for you
Put down the cup, shut your mouth…open your soul! You are in the presence of God!!!!

Also have to agree with other comments, SHE gets it but her hubby definitely DOES NOT, smh, he just can't feel it at all.
