  • Unleash your capabilities: Highly efficient production of even the most complex parts, thanks to unique B-axis technology, is a hallmark of Tornos’ SwissDECO of automatic turning machines.
Take your manufacturing performance and productivity to a new level with this solution designed to machine bars of up to 36 mm in diameter.
With its three Z axes, the SwissDECO 36 TB can produce parts up to 600 mm in length, positioning you to tackle a variety of complex parts. This interfemoral nail was drilled through in one shot-and the B axis on the turret allows you to tackle parts from every angle.
Codeveloped with Guhring , the special drill boasts the longest Guhring gun drill Guhrig drill ever built for a Swiss-type lathe. This unique operation is achievable thanks to the third Z axis which supports the turret; the Z axis has a 750 mm stroke. In addition to making the impossible possible, the SwissDECO 36 TB can safely eject the part and accommodate a robotic unloading device.

In the first seconds i thought: Oh yes finally a video with sound. But then when the machining starts silence. As a machinist you would hear the sound from the machining. Please make videos with machining sound.

Hi! very cool and thanks for sharing. How do you ensure the drill does not walk? It seems we have a run out due to material not being straight and possibly runout or tool wear. How do you ensure your process accounts for those factors and produces straight deep holes? thanks!!

Thank you ! The external turning as well as the long drilling are done on the same spindle in order to minimize the runout. The maximum runout we had was of 0.20mm at the exit of the drilling. This application is made in brass for the purpose of the video, but the setup was made in titanium.

@@tornoschannel 500mm drill depth with only .2mm runout at the end of part is very impressive. What's the cycle time for just the hole in titanium? 40mins? Great setup, anything is possible if you think outside the box!

Hello @@steve0stang, thank you for your comment, the cycle time is just over 10 minutes for the hole 🚀

How did you rechuck on two different diameters? Awesome stuff! Is the real part titanium or stainless? Run time?

Hello Alex, we have a guidebush and a spindle on this machine, cycle time is 22 min; 17 min for the deep hole drilling we have to go slowly to not break the drill. To be honest we did not spent a lot of time to optimize the process we were focused on the practical feasibility here. Thank you for watching and for the nice comment

And the real part is made in titanium 👌
