Thanks for the sharing! It's better to check to see if your car AC does need refrigerant refill or not. The sight glass bubbling often varies for different cars AC so it's a bit tricky for fresh DIYers. It's better to check the bubbling on start-up and shutdown as well for information as over-fill is the common mistake.
You are very good at explaining things from a very basic point & your tone is friendly. You are the best of all the videos I’ve watched on this issue. Thank you.
This comment is intended for educational purposes, the proper term is (Refrigerant) “Freon” was used many years ago. And yes, anyone with a hybrid that has an electric driven compressor needs to use R-134A refrigerant with special oil that is non-conductive.
I called Toyota dealership, spoke to someone In parts and I was told only time they'd change oil if there is work involved like replacing a Condenser, not to refil freon. Also he mentioned if there is a freon leak oil still going to be on the system....
Prius 2012 V, 147,000 miles. AC sometimes stops working while driving. If I stop the car, turn the engine/computer off, and restart, it works OK, and it works long time. Blows cold air again. Any idea?
The metal radiator in the front that you are referring to is the condenser. It doesn't make the air cool... Hot gas leaves the compressor and goes through the fins of the condenser turning it to a hot liquid. Once the hot liquid goes through a thermostatic expansion valve or orifice, it turns to a cold liquid. Then the cold liquid goes through the evaporator in the dash which is another radiator inside the dash. The cold liquid becomes a cold gas. then it goes through a receiver dryer so that no moisture enters the compressor. The cool gas is compressed in the compressor and the process starts all over again.
Condenser makes a state transition from gas to liquid. This involves compression from the compressor. On the other side is the expansion valve and the evaporator. From liquid to gas is evaporation and this takes heat form the inside of the car. I would suggest you study basic thermodynamics www.servicechampions.net/blog/air-conditioner-works-refrigeration-cycle/
Hell how u doing sir thx for the video. . I have a Prius 2005 the Ac blower fan its not working I took out the motor an i checked it out its working fine. An the weir contacted well no feus burn an still not working don't know what's going on needs ur help pls. .
R134A is not so special. It is not about conductivity, but the oil type: All 2G and 3G Prius use the special ND-11 compressor oil. You can use R-134a refrigerant that does not contain any oil. Oils do not mix!
All the orange wires are 360 VOLTS with the wrong oil in the system the high voltage can shut down and give you a check engine code. Don't ever jump a hybrid cars a/c pump. this guy should not be on youtube he knows almost nothing.
You have a fast enough leak where you can probably find it. Check here for methods or take it into a decent shop and they can tell you where it is. priuschat.com/threads/ac-leak-detection-and-repair.181377/
It was a ok video but I think it would been way better if u would of showed us on adding the liquid and when to stop. To actually do it. No offense. And don't wanna sound rude. That's just my point of view
First of all hybrid electric vehicles should not be refilled by a DIY as explained in the video, unless you want to blow your A/C motor. The gas needs to be vacuum extracted first by a machine and then refilled by the correct amount. (450/470grams) Using a diy bottle you have no idea whats in the car and how much extra gas should you or shouldnt put in. And you cannot tell of the car needs oil either. This method is a receipe for a disaster in the long term
do not use any rechargeable can't you get at a auto parts store. These require a special oil because they use a hybrid condenser for hybrid vehicles. If you use the wrong kind of recharge it will kill your condenser sooner.
I wonder what is wrong with my Prius? I have the same model as this video but the AC stops going to my face and goes to the windshield instead. Happens every few minutes.
LOL By %:00 this guy is panting. What the hell,? You'd think he was running a marathon and not ruining his AC system! The only good thing about this video is the comments section.
I waited till the end for you to show how to charge the air conditioning but you never did. If you would have added the how to and shown it then it would be great otherwise it was some nice talking but most people are watching because they need to see how it's done.
My advice is good. You need to add Freon R134a with ND-11 oil in the freon. I updated the video to contain this procedure. Thanks for your comment. the Hybrid charge is only special as it has ND-11 oil required and can NOT have PAG oil in it.
This is not a technical video. You need to hook gauges up to your ports. You just don't start pumping "freon" as you call it, into the low port. You don't even know where the compressor is. Do some research before you do a video. Disappointing amateurish video.
At least I have 3000+ Videos. You don't have any. You don't even try. Before you insult me and my video have your own expertise demonstrated - or else you don't have a leg to stand on and your comments are worthless to me.
This ac system is completely different first of all. Second never buy the crap from the auto parts store it has crap in it that will gum up your system. You need to take it to a shop! Terrible video bad advice!
Yeah sure. Take it to a shop and pay $300. No thank you. You are posting this as you work at one of those shops. You will charge evacuation fee, disposal fee, pound of freon fee, labor fee. Thank you - NO thank you
moviestudioland I own one of those shops lol the crap in those bottles is the same as slim for your bike tire. They all have a sealant that will ruin you’re ac system. If it’s a car you don’t care about use it but if it’s your car do not put that garbage in your car.
@@krisdjsteel we got to love this kind of guys. They make us so much money replacing compressors and all the other components. I just feel sorry for any one who listens to this guy.
What is the use of this you haven't showed us how to re charge the gas.

good info. you said to check first the sensor and O rings but showed them in passing, could not see what sensor exactly... please show in detail

ok I will check, thanks again.
Thank you mare nice vidios 👌👌👌👌
Thank you very helpful ❤
Thank you for explaining simple and not a long 15 video of rubbish cheers 🥂 mate.
Hey no rubbish here. Make sure you get some ND-11 oil into the compressor too.
Nice video glad you attempted to make a video...btw it's called refrigerant.. Freon is an old school term
Well I am OLD school. And the term "OLD School "is now out of vogue too.
thanks for the info.
Be careful on the freon for the Prius. I think it is different than the standard R134A. You might need to get special Prius Freon.
No, it takes standard R-134a with no oil or any other additives.

Warn everyone how normal traditional freon will damage the electronic compressor on hybrids. You will need hybrid nonconductive freon.
Thank you I was wondering about this
Recharge cans say not to use on hybrid vehicles
You may need a special type of recharge specifically for hybrid cars*
Hi i bought used prius hybrid A/C compressor ,so how i can check this compressor is working or not working
You need to look up buttons on the dash to press all at once to get status codes of the A/C system. czcams.com/video/pQP8DoebVac/video.html

Thank you for clearing this up
Not different freon, but different compressor oil on an electric compressor.
How do you jump the compressor with a wire?
All the orange wires are 360 VOLTS with the wrong oil in the system the high voltage can shut down and give you a check engine code. Don't ever jump a hybrid cars a/c pump. this guy should not be on youtube he knows almost nothing.
I have Toyota aygo. Do you think it works the same way
Look up on google how to press the correct buttons to get the A/C error codes if any
I have 2008 toyota prius, and the ac is not cold. I tried to recharge but after 2 days its hot again. Help please!
You have a fast enough leak where you can probably find it. Check here for methods or take it into a decent shop and they can tell you where it is.

well said, you were nice in your delivery!
Standard Pressure: Low pressure side: 21.3 to 35.6 psi

What would be the correct way? about how much would it cost?

My AC turns on and turns off randomly while driving. It is blowing cold air. But still why is it happening?
loose connector
I was waiting for instructions on how to recharge the air conditioning
I wonder what is wrong with my Prius? I have the same model as this video but the AC stops going to my face and goes to the windshield instead. Happens every few minutes.
Did you figure it out? :)
How much would it cost
2,000,000 of course
why does everyone seen to show a car that doesn't need Freon? he can't even find the compressor.
Toyota prius has an electric compressor. It is not easily visible.
Can’t find it on a 2005
video is for a 2013. Not a 2005.
LOL By %:00 this guy is panting. What the hell,? You'd think he was running a marathon and not ruining his AC system! The only good thing about this video is the comments section.
I have a heart condition.
That is the basics to charge gas to a/c in most cars. That is most butcher way to do it. Very cowboy. It is all by weight. Not by guess.
I waited till the end for you to show how to charge the air conditioning but you never did. If you would have added the how to and shown it then it would be great otherwise it was some nice talking but most people are watching because they need to see how it's done.
I said where to add it. There is a 50% chance you will get that wrong. For more support call your mom and have her hold your hand
Hybrid car need de electric gas don’t put normal thing its a fire hazard. Particularly if the compressor is electrically driven be careful
Bad advice in this video. Dont use refrigernat from the auto parts store. You need special hybrid refrigerant.
My advice is good. You need to add Freon R134a with ND-11 oil in the freon. I updated the video to contain this procedure. Thanks for your comment.

In fact theres no were problems on your Air compressore... sorry for my dislike too
Horrible explanation,…. Created more questions than answers…s m h
go to A/C school then. Or get ripped off by the A/C supposed professional. Go into the auto parts store and ask how to di it
Some people were not meant to make DIY videos, this being one of them.
gee thanks
