- If you like whistles then you’ve come to the right place! In this compilation we feature some of the best whistlers captured on the channel throughout a period of 7 years from 2015-2022.
Featuring three note chimes to hooters to teapot whistles, there’s all sorts of whistles from each of the big four regions & BR Standards plus industrials and narrow gauge ‘at the end’ from over the years with some unseen footage too. There’s even an American five note chime thrown in from a USATC S160 there as well!
This video includes a grand total of 42 different steam locomotives

5428's is one of my favourites
@Nasir Todd 60163 is Tornado & 60103 is Flying Scotsman, they are quite easy numbers to mix up lol! Hope this helps :)

This reminds me how different American and British steam whistles are. Both beautiful in different ways.
Howdy doppelgänger. But yes, all steam whistles are quite enchanting over the _bleat_ that is the modern locomotive horn.
@@XanthinZarda ESPECIALLY when the same horn is used so commonly.
I do think a chimed whistle is nicer to listen to, though, but hooters are possibly a bit better due to lack of melody to them. Although I quite like them all.
That is very true. I’m from America where our steam whistles tend too be a little bit louder and more rugged but also have more complexity with the tones that one whistle has. Steam engines from the uk tend too have more elegant sounding whistles but with less notes in one whistle. I love them both tho. My favorites are the a4 class and the southern pacific 4449 daylight.
The Power of the LMS Hooter from 48624 is EPIC at 2:17 and the Awesome Sound from the Flying Scotsman at 2:52. I loved Sir Nigel Gresleys Whistle and Union of South Africa’s whistle too💖 The Merchant Navy, Bullied Pacific Whistles sound EPIC when they are passing by and the LMS Hooters
The sound of steam engine whistles are truly magical!
They certainly are wonderful, thanks for watching! :)

These whistles are definitely a lot different then we have here in the U.S. but the are beautiful in their way! Also these steam locomotives are very clean!
It's a stunning sight.
All of them are brilliant whistles love them 👍👍
I can't stop picturing thomas with this kinds of whistles
Some of these whistles reminds me of the y6 single note hooter
2:53. Is that flying scotsman? With a new whistle that sounds better.
Certainly is! Think they fixed it, she definitely sounds a lot better than it use to that's for sure lol
Cameron
I like them all to be honest. They have a charming sound to them! But I like the Stanier ones as well.
Nice collection of whistles :)
Thank you very much Simon! :)
Cameron
2:53 I love how everyone in that clip has their video and is recording the flying Scotsman going past
I'm not a fair judge as Britannia wins everything for me. Great video and many worthy rivals....(in second place!)
Thank you very much! Britannia definitely has one of the best whistles preservation, could listen to it for ages! :)

@@RailView_YT Cameron Thankyou for reply - but want to use it for my 92yr old dad funeral on Mon a lover of steam engines all his life - would appreciate being able to use Steam Locomotive Whistles of Britain
We Could credit you by adding a photo of this clip to one of overhead screens - in the Crematorium and credit you that way - with your name - would we use the name ‘Railview’ ?
@@EvEl31 Yeah that’s fine by me :)
Thanks,
Cameron
Just seen your other comment about your dad's funeral. That's absolutely fine, sorry for your loss :( I feel it wouldn't be appropriate to have my credit at such a time like this, feel free to use without crediting me. It's great to hear your dad was a lover of steam and makes making these films worthwhile, I'm glad you feel this video is good enough to use to pay tribute to him :)
