We actually do spend far more time, energy and money to improve people’s lives. It’s called modern free market capitalism, and it has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty.
But yes, it would be nice if we didn’t have to spend the resources we do on the various devices of war. Unfortunately, there has never been a time in human history when people didn’t spend a significant chunk of their resources on weaponry and defense against others.

I live in Germany, 60 Km north of Frankfurt and yes I am worried about my family! My mother is 92 and has experienced WWII when she was in the teens, but she hardly ever talks about the war! What is scary is the fact that there are almost no peace gathering motivation against the war, that may occur in Germany! People here in Germany go along their life as usual, even though politics getting worse from day to day! Those who leave Germany, leave because of the economy, and they see no future for their children! Never, ever, have we had war rhetoric like in these days that is coming from our Government since WWII! It seems like I am in a nightmare since the war started in Ukraine. We need a miracle asap! Or else!
There are three possibilities to consider:
1. Western political leaders could initiate a conflict, potentially resulting in a war where it's assumed that countries like the U.S. and the U.K. might end up profiting and not taking part in.
2. The citizens of Western nations could take action to prevent the outbreak of such a conflict.
3. It's all driven by financial gains, and the situation might de-escalate if Western military intervention is withheld.
Are there many instances where people have actually managed to prevent such outcomes? It seems to be a rare occurrence.

You can't blame someone speculating based on a few cold facts: the terrorists fleeing towards Ukrainian border, Victoria Nuland forewarning some expected 'nasty surprises' waiting for Russia as the USA pays for Ukraine to fight Russia 'assymetrically', the USA warning its citizens to stay away from crowded areas just days before the terrorists were scouting the arena, and then subsequently committing the actual horrific atrocity, the USA knowing just 55 minutes after that Ukraine definitely wasn't responsible (which kinda suggests they actually know who is).
It's already 2 years since the USA definitely didn't blow up the Nordstream pipelines, and the USA, Germany, Norway etc. still don't know, nudge nudge wink wink. Yes, they want you and me who obviously don't live in their 'rest of the world' to believe that it took them, thousands of miles away, just 55 minutes to determine that it definitely was not Ukraine.

Could you imagine if Texas or any other State had nukes that belonged specifically to them and not to the federal government? Not to mention, the USSR was way more centralized state than the US, USSR had no federal structure, and everything was controlled by Moscow. How would you expect Ukraine to have any legitimate claims on such weapons? They had been positioned there by Moscow and then take back once USSR collapsed. Peacefully dealing with this issue was a gesture of good faith by both Ukraine and Russia, and there's never been a peaceful solution in which Ukraine could retain this weaponry.
