I'm from the 315 too! Good to see that there are actual people from the 315 on CZcams!
Yay CNY!
Well, my Amazon Echo heard all those requests and followed in time perfectly. I ended up enjoying the rest of the video to Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters" 😂
same her :-D
HA! The same thing happened to me when I was editing the video.
💯 Aaron Paul's Xbox Kinect AD flash backs
You made my Alexa play at home😂 and I love how unintentionally interactive it was!!
Glad to see a Ghostbusters build :) I have a Spirit Pack as well but there’s still more upgrades I need to do. After watching this, one of those upgrades is definitely going to be weathering! Nice job!
Thanks! =D
My childhood *Proton Pack* was a one piece blow molded blue thing with a yellow pool noodle proton stream.
Holy crap I remember those!
the graphite makes it looks like metal that has been anodized. nice touch.
Andrew is most definitely a man child of the 80s!! This is great!
It's so true! :D
As evidenced by his Nike Bruins.
I try :)
This is what I like, just guys being dudes, dudes being guys
Awesome video! By the way, I spot Bob Clagett’s head bust on the table. Very cool. Love the Ghostbusters! 👍🏼
Bill that beard is looking pretty dang badass man.
Why thank you, kind sir! I've been working on it. =)
From time to time, many stickers may have special coatings, and/or plastic laminates applied, that will prevent adhesive removers from soaking through. To counteract this, you can sand the surfaces of the stickers with a fine grain sandpaper. After doing this, you can "goop" the adhesive remover on top of it, and it will soak into & through. Then it should be much easier to remove the stickers. Of course, use all the usual saftey precautions. And, test all intended removers on the plastic finish(es), in an inconspicous spot, to make sure they are compatible.
Excellent tip! Thanks for sharing.
My vote for most epic montages of 2018!
This ended up activating my Alexa and playing the ghostbusters theme as well!
you are the best builder on youtube.
Omggg! I love how it turned out. THATS FROM SPIRIT HALLOWEEN?! You guys made it look awesome. You always find the coolest stuff there!
Crazy, right?! We might have to do a whole series next Halloween.
this is my favorite punished props video of all time would love to see you make your own proton pack and ghost trap Bill would be awesome dude you rock
Awe, thank you so much!
this response has made my day :) you guys rock
Omg that graphite trick just blew my mind! And I'm about to do a blaster repaint in a few weeks that'll be mostly black so this was perfect timing!
I also have graphite sticks just lying around from way back in my Parsons foundation year days. Ha this was perfect! You have no idea how much I learn from you!
Have fun with that one! =D
hi,
To remove sticker, I use a hot air gun or hair dryer, to just worm up the sticker, most time this helps
A grand, enthusiast thumbs up from the 585!! Great work!
What’s better than another video from Punished Props? A video from Punished Props guest starring one of your friends!
Pretty great, right?! =D
Your attention to detail is amazing I've only recently come across your channel but have watched a ton of your videos this is one of my favorites
Thank you so much!
If you heat the stickers with a heat gonna or a hair dryer for a minute they should peel cleanly.
I love watching videos of people modifying these things.
More Ghostbusters stuff Bill!!!
I just love the Ghostbusters theme song;
When you're walking down the street
And you see a little ghost
Whatcha gonna do about GHOSTBUSTERS!
Ha that's a nice reference made my day
Simple Green is also VERY good at getting rid of the stickers and residue and won't need an extensive cleaning after.
Good to know!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have someone from my personal life in mind, whom would absolutely love this 🌟
That's AWESOME!
What I learned from the T.V show American reiteration to help line up decals. Use soapy water and it helps so you can move around the decal and when you get it where you want it let it dry. Then it will be stuck where you want it.
YOU NEED TO DO MORE GHOSTBUSTERS
YOU GUYS ARE FROM CNY??? NO SHIT!!!
UTICA, BORN AND RAISED!! 315, BABY!! LOL!! Maaaaan... I wish I could have hung out with you there and done stuff like this before I had moved to Jersey 6 years ago...
Oh how I wish Spirit was a thing across the pond, first pip boys now proton packs.
So awesome
What actually works great for cleaning of grime and grease ist basic gun cleaner. This stuff also comes in a spray can which is very handy. I use it mostly to clean props before painting and to clean some of my paintball gear at times ^^ you should try it^^
Good tip!
Great video....716 here.....keep going boys
Somewhat, but not quite coincidental: One time I made a pinewood derby car that had a shape similar to Ecto 1 (not intentionally), and then painted it green. When we put graphite powder on the wheels (because pinewood derby rules prohibit most lubricants except that) it got all over the green paint. When we tried to wipe it off, it just made the green paint shiny, so we just rubbed it all over instead, resulting in a metallic green car. I started calling it the Ecto Pickle.
HA! That's great. =)
Most stickers will lift off cleanly if heated up with a hairdryer or heat gun, saves having to use any chemicals etc 👍🏻
After watching your videos I want to make stuff that’s cool like this!!!!!
That's wonderful! Here's a good place to start: punishedprops.com/new-maker/
Used a heat gun to remove stickers, much faster then goo gone, used Benjamin Moore Gun metal finish over a satin black ultra cover. Then chrome dry brushing over that, all hand painted.
Great build!
I was the lucky recipient of this AMAZING Proton Pack courtesy of Bill and my extremely thoughtful boyfriend Andrew! ;) Thank you both so very very much!! I am still in shock!!! :D
See the reaction video here! : czcams.com/video/kfUO-FZoTLI/video.html
I'm so glad you like it! =D
That air compressor sounds like the dilophosaurus from the original Jurassic Park.
Oooo... been waiting on this since the sneak peak over the weekend!
Woohoo!
Ahh, the classic shop "cup o goodies".
Dan Aykroyd on the extras in the ghostbusters videogame. He said if you have enough money you could build a real working ghost trap.
Would really like to eye you do a full spirit pack mod! Ribbon cable, elbows, hoses, an mounting it on an Alice frame etc... Love your work!
We have! czcams.com/video/y6skw2Pl6PU/video.html
C and h surplus in Duarte is where they got the original parts for the move prop, but back when the store use to be in Pasadena, if you make props and live in so cal i recommend going there
Citadel Paints has some good shade-paints you could use as washes for weathering... "Agrax Earthshade," "Nuln Oil" and "Coelia Greenshade" for that ectoplasm-residue.
Oooooh I like it!
Yeah, Citadel Paints are a little on the pricey side, but I like 'em. They're good water-based paints, they're aces for details (as long as you thin your paints- ALWAYS THIN YOUR PAINTS, unless it's an all-over wash or a technical paint not unlike that graphite-powder you used for this job), and they have fun names like "Mephiston Red," "Soulstone Blue," "Drakenhof Nightshade," "Tuskgor Fur," etc. Even the Citadel gloss-varnish goes by the name " 'Ardcoat."
Good job!!
The spirit pack that just came out this year is much better. From the future.
A quick pass with a heat gun on low would bring those stickers right off.
Captain Vist Cosplay I was literally about to post that
That's a great idea!
Even just a hair dryer works great. Much better than goo gone.
Such a great video! Thank you so much.
put some dried marshmallow goo and slime on that thing!!!
HA! I like the marshmallow idea!
Good thing I have a few thousand acid brushes laying around. Should cover the brushing of graphite powder part of this.
I think I would do at last a bit of green XD
I did basically the same upgrades, but I took the speaker out, I would rather have no speaker until I can upgrade to a better speaker
Funny thing. this actually set off my alexa and played the theme.
I learned that the Spirit Halloween Proton Pack is too damn small. Nice thing I have the full size model
We’ll have to make a full size pack as well!
I've always wanted to figure a way to mod my proton pack to have the light-up switch and the whine of when the wands were powering up.
Now you guys should scratch-build a Full-Sized Proton Pack of your own!
Found that if you pull all four corners of a sticker, and pull at it slowly, there's a good chance you'll get the sticker off in one piece.
Why does it have a toilet flushing sound effect? Looks great overall. I built one from scratch for this past Halloween, makes me wish I'd had graphite powder. I did get my utility belt at Spirit, it really brought the jumpsuit together. Had to modify that with a clasp to accommodate my cardboard ghost trap.
Robert McGinty, if you need graphite powder just use a pencil.
yay
Did Spirit add the proper sized ribbon cable and the brass rod to the ion arm? The ones that I bought last year had no ion arm rod and it had that sad thin ribbon cable
thank you for not playing dub step music at 500% volume for the time lapse parts!
or, and great video
wub wub
Nice DIY video but waiting for someone to upgrade the wand!
Central NY eh? 518 (and fellow 80's man-child) representing here!
I have found that window cleaner works good too for removing stickers.
Use a Hair dryer or a hot air gun to remove the stickers, then clean up the adhesive.
Try peanut butter for taking of stickers after you peel off most of them. But not if you have peanut allergies...works better than goo of
Going to do this with the ghost trap spirit released.
Excellent!
Now you're in my wheelhouse! :-D
Yeahhh buddy! I'm coming for your ghosts Brock! =D
:-D Zap 'em and trap 'em! I'm glad you made this tutorial as I'm about to repaint two Spirit packs, including a custom for my girlfriend.
hey cool i'm a 315er to, geneva baby!
WOOO CNY! =D
You made my Alexa play music 😂😂😂
HAH! Sorry =)
I just bought a Spirit pack to mod because of your video! I loved the idea of the graphite powder effect. Would the graphite powder sold as lubricant be the same thing/give the same effect as you got from sanding graphite sticks?
Heck yeah! Have fun :) As for the lubricant, I'm not 100% sure, but if all it is is graphite then I don't see why it wouldn't work
315! Represent!
Awesome video ! What’s the music soundtrack that you use in the end of the video ?
Hey Bill that Proton pack looked awesome in the end, and I was wondering if you could maybe make a shootable\foldable Crescent Rose from RWBY if you have time and are able too. Thanks for the great tutorials, keep up the amazing work.
Thanks! Unfortunately I've never watched RWBY so the odds of us doing that build are slim.
It's fine, Thanks for responding and as I said before keep up the great work, you guys make amazing props.
Don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see a grey Fox mask from elder scrolls
Kept triggering my alexa...
Same here. I had to put mine in Do-Not-Disturb mode
10:48 Light is green, floor is clean.
Alright!
Do you ever do wet installs of stickers/decals? It's the only way I fly. Giving you a chance to reposition, squeegee out bubbles or wrinkles and handle any other potential issues.
czcams.com/video/cEAIJevzz9Q/video.html
Yeah! Those are really amazing. I need to find a good project to demonstrate them on...
not gonna lie i got half way thru this stopped and went to watch ghost busters 2 then came back.
That's the right move.
Why does no one print their stickers with bleeds???
I used a heat gun and they came out clean
Lmao my Alexa started playing the ghostbusters soundtrack 😂😂
xentrix cover of Ghostbusters is good guys
I need me one of these 👍👍
Somebody quick, tell Phelous!
Just purchased mine this year. I'm so excited to make the upgrades!!! Where can I get the stickers? The link in bio isn't showing them?
heat 'em up!
I just did something similar with the same pack but it doesn't look quite as good
Bill Doran singlehandedly just drove up the price if Spirit Halloweens Proton Pack....Gotta get me one !.....@prop_daddy
By the way, Bill, my 10 yr old son Liam wants you to know that dabbing is “sooo dead.” The kids are flossing these days.
I'm so happy to hear kids are excited about oral hygiene now! =D
Hey guys love your vids I just found you guys but insta-love i was wondering could you do you proton pack or even just the gun you know easy to do at home build but with your style and the way you guys do things im huge fan and I dont have the money to get a professorial one
I would love to build a proton pack from scratch. I can't promise when we'll get a chance to do it, but it's on my wish list, for sure.
Did I miss the part where some of the pack body got repainted? (Cyclotrone, metal pieces, etc)
Bill.D = Build
OMG
Wait wait wait.. you're from central NY in the 315?
Small world, I grew up in Oswego county.
Wild!
No heat gun to remove the stickers?
Great work! Would you suggest against the same painting technique as the trap (all silver, with toothpaste, and a matt black?) Thanks!
Sure!
I clicked on the link for the light mods and it says the page is taken down
