Hello, LMFT-S here! I'm so glad I found your videos. It's a great refresher. Structural Family Therapy is my favorite type of therapy...and I love enactments!! They're great tools to challenge families and encourage communication growth.

I'm so happy you found the videos too - hurrah! I've got an idea for a video on Enactments somewhere on my 'to do' list, would love to get your thoughts on it when I do!

I opened up my private practice about eight months ago. I’m working with mostly young adults and teenagers, but I am now venturing into working with families. I loved the way you told us about how you structure the first session. I’d love more specific examples of difficult family situations you’ve dealt with and how to move forward when there is conflict during session.
Thanks for making a great video!

Congratulations on your private practice, and thank you so much for the very generous comment, it's very much appreciated. I have some ideas brewing for a new video - and love the idea of it being about a specific (fake) family. Stay tuned!

wooohooo! and SAME! I had to teach myself all of this after I graduated. Thrilled it's of use to you - there's more videos somewhere on my channel that talk structural systems too - the Family Mapping one might be interesting too.

@@MyPeoplePatterns I shared your channel with my classmates too! Thanks for creating such helpful content. ❤️ I'm finding most of my learning will take place during my practicum hours instead of during class time. Theory is great, but learning intervention skills is going to take actual practice.

@@hannahgulyas3967 100% agree - my grad school was amazing, but I didn't learn a thing about how to 'do' therapy until I started working as a trainee! Theory isn't going anywhere, just remember to come back to it in a few years because it makes SO much more sense and everything just clicks.

Can U do a video using triangulation & Bowman differentiation theory regarding parental alienation & emotional incest, as to me the theories you explain directly relate to post separation adultification of a child by the alienating emotionally incestuous parent. Your young, but wisdom beyond your years. Love Ur videos 😊

Ooooh I like the challenge, and have actually worked with quite a few families in which those themes showed up - structural family systems will definitely explain it. I shall get thinking. Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement... I'm also way older than i look ;)

Thank you, I'm not complementing U, I believe my opinion to be close to the truth. Your eloquence & ability to simplify what should be common sense is impressive & a great skill. I am an Educator & Clinician & I've been around for a while. What surprises me having done my own reading & watching U is how so few so-called experts who work in family law courts, have so little understanding of basic attachment & differentiation theory. I'm trained in the medical differential diagnostic algorithm. Courts & forensic psychologists rarely if at all conduct interviews that differentially diagnose family systems & more importantly children. I find this bizarre as these court child experts are there to advise Judges to make orders that are in children's best interests. Despite this orders are frequently made without family systems or psychological diagnoses being made. This is pretty much the same in all of the Anglo-American court systems. Anyway very keen to have Ur insights. If U'd like an exquisitely excellent summary of PA watch Teal Swan's take on PA. Dr Childress has a very medical series of CZcams videos on PA as DSM 5 Child Psychological Abuse, with severe PA is. He doesn't like the term PA & mentions Bowlby & attachment, but not Bowen & differentiation. Anyway I look forward to your response & insight. I feel certain U can help me empathise with my poor adultified, parentified & emotionally enmeshed child. I'm the split all 'bad' parent.
