Something like that would work good in a full auto squad weapon role. As for normal use I'll stick with the standard 30rd. mag setup and just change magazines as usual. It doesn't take long to change a magazine and 30rd mags are what everyone else has, so there's no compatibility issues.
Realistically it's a range toy add on. Cause your going to need to get new magazine pouches to carry them too. As is most things out there are for the standard 30 round mags.

This rifles lower receiver is designed for quad stack mags and if the actual reviews have anything to go by it fixed those problems. Hell not only that they redesigned the magazines themselves to be more reliable as well. It has much potential for Light support gun and squad automatic weapon roles.

It's a neat novelty at the range but the need for a special lower to even accept the magazine, then needing a small adapter to accept standard mags just creates more complexity that isn't necessary
As an engineer, I agree with you. Would be much too complicated to change over now. Maybe if this system was developed 50 years ago, it would have taken off as long as the malfunction rate was acceptable. Definitely some advantages. A 30 round version of this magazine would be really great for prone position, for example.
My thinking is. If the mag is reliable, it maybe an option for the XM7 rifle, bigger mags weigh less(in theory) for rounds carried. XM7 is already pushing soldiers to carry 4-5 more pounds with 70 less rounds with 20 round mags they may hit harder need to reload 33% more. If this can push the rounds back up to ~35 it would be beneficial and since it shoots an ENTIRELY different round, its also beneficial that the mags are clearly different.

While weight is a consideration, reliability of all equipment is foremost.

Mag-pul 40rd mags. Fits standard lowers and mag pouches. After a little bit of training, you'll never know the difference in weight. An extra 10rds per mag makes a big difference when it comes to shooting.

I was researching this when I 1st heard about it and it's a smart concept...Standard infantry loadout is 210 rds which currently requires 7 magazines (6 reloads). The quattro15 mag carries 212 rounds in 4 magazines (3 reloads). When under fire, half the reloads is a huge benefit! And the reason they did 53 rounds instead of 60 is to keep the length of the mags the same so they fit into standard double mag pouches...makes total sense if you ask me!! Already ordered mine! 😎

Anyone that’s ever used a quad stack mag will tell you they are pretty gimmicky. I got a few failure free cycles through the ones I owned and then they started failing to feed, and god forbid you drop one, it’ll unload itself in 1 second flat. However they are fun, I hope they fixed these problems
I'd like to say I do acknowledge the quad stacks have problems, but the 2 own have been flawless even running through my scar 16s, tho I only load them to about 50ish, I have not done any extensive feild testing nor have I dropped them, just my experience

I get what you're saying but the goals for this new magazine are a simpler, shorter, lighter, and more reliable quad stack mag. The only things I am willing to wait for in time is reliability and a simpler adapter that doesn't have parts that can be lost. If they can solve those 2 issues the Quattro is just flat out better than what is currently on the market.

Cool. I wonder if instead of having one adapter attached to the receiver, maybe having cheap 3d printed adapters attached to each normal AR mag. That way it is a seamless transition from the big mags to the normal mags.
If they used a retention mechanism similar to what is used on Kalashnikov rifles, an adapter would not be necessary (but of course, this would mean that only ak magazines or something similar could be used)

Surefire makes 60 and 100rd that fit standard AR platform. All mine have functioned flawlessly even with cheapo ammo.

The D60s don't jam, plus you get to keep a much better looking and thinner lower. Also, most Surefire mags don't jam.
