I think the main problem with this episode was not using the dehydrator.

To be fair, it's a lot easier to reverse engineer something someone already figured out and has proven popular, rather than come up with an idea yourself and have to figure it out yourself and constantly tweak it.
Wow starburst are really different in the US. In the UK we have four 'original' flavours; blackcurrant, strawberry, lemon and lime, and orange. They don't contain corn syrup, and they're vegan, as in they have never contains gelatin.

I think the title is to bring in eyes more than anything and let people get attached to the characters along with Claire as she goes through the ups and downs of replicating something done in factories to a perfect precision.
