That seems to be more a narrative than reality. From what I have seen, gamers have no problem with girls who are gamers. They have a problem with people who don't care about games coming in and ruining everything they enjoy.
I like to think of that episode as the spiritual last episode of the Simpsons...kid-centric, it aired as the last episode of the season, so back then it meant it aired in early/mid June, just as me when I was in school, it lasted up to June 23rd sometimes. Sure there is fun episodes afterwards but there was growth for both Bart and Lisa. Theoretically, they'd have to be in the 5th and 3rd grade the following season. I guess I feel like this in part because of when it aired, I was graduating high school.

The Sargent is confused because it's new, but he admits the idea is good and allows Lisa in. This episode is mostly about Lisa and Bart's sibling relationship.

He ran the last leg for his team - and came away the fastest runner of the day, and made up considerable distance to win. This video made me think of that day. How I wish I had been able to see it, instead of only hear and read about it. I was a single mom and had to work. My son was an amazing athlete. ❤️

I love this scene so much. It's literally out of context in the show too. You think he might discuss with Lisa how to present her report, but he takes a deep breath and says "you're a girl?" Cuase he was expecting a boy to have written the report. It comes out if nowhere and is exsactly why I love old simpsons. It doesn't try to push new agendas, it only makes fun of old agendas and makes us realize how far we had come since the 70's. But all the new simpsons wants to do is make us believe none of us have done anything and that literally everyone is ignorant. I will admit that there are a lot of people around the world who still hold onto dumb old beliefs. But the majority of this world is full of people who have advanced past ideas like misogyny and are still mocking people who hold onto those "ideals". We want to see this level of comedy from the Simpsons. The kind of comedy that isn't pushing hordes of ignorant people in our face as if they surround us. The Simpson's that totally outnumber the ignorant bigots of the world. We see in this clip, 1 man vs 1girl. But in the new simpsons you would see this type of scene, only with an army of men scratching there heads in disbelief that the 1 girl could write this paper. THAT is why current Simpsons is failing, because it pushes a simple concept joke too far to the point were it's stupid and unrealistic. I get that this is a cartoon so it's not real, but when your joke is more like a message, THATS NOT COMEDY! That's propaganda BS that no one wants to watch becuase we know it's BS.
