      Using Unity for cinematic content creation of film and animation is a developing area, as I understand it. Not too long ago I would have recommended staying with Blender for this, but check out their solution: unity.com/solutions/film-animation-cinematics - watch their show reel, and also look at their short film "Adam": unity.com/demos/adam

    Thanks a lot for your video! However, when I move my camera, the video quality drops (pixels appear on screen), but when it's static, the quality is normal. I'm not sure how to fix this; I've tried increasing the quality to 4K at 60fps.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před 2 měsíci

      Maybe a codec issue - check bitrate, codec, camera target. Performance will lag under load, but shouldn't affect the video.

  • @NaruGonReaction
    @NaruGonReaction Před 2 lety +1

    Unity recorder is low quality even if you put it on High Resolution and it's kind of blurry when you move the camera.

    • @exostar
      @exostar Před rokem

      I had the same problem. Record it as a lossless png sequence, and audio and use ffmpeg to put the image sequence and audio back together. You get full control over quality.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před rokem

      Not sure what factors might be here - my captures are pretty fantastic. Depending on the frame rate, I'd anticipate some motion blur.

    I'm having issues with the camera controller part, where did you get the asset from? I found a free one on the unity asset store but it makes me use WASD to move the camera. I'm looking to do a slow pan moving from top to bottom in a circle around my model for videos and cannot seem to get it there.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před rokem

      Camera control would be provided by you, and not a feature of Unity Recorder. To replicate the Fly Camera within the Unity Editor, you can find scripts that leverage WASD + QE controls such as the Unity template gist here: gist.github.com/jasonsturges/2a9ec4793a54b5c6c66130f4a6db9fb6
      Otherwise you'd need to implement an orbit camera controller if you're trying to orbit around something. Or, create an animator like in the video above. Perhaps another alternative is to use Procedural World's Pegasus path driver and animation controller from the Unity Asset Store; however, I've had poor experiences But you could define the camera motion path and leverage Pegasus for the video output.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před rokem +1

      DaVinci Resolve is free video editing software, and Blender has some video editing capabilities now. Command line ffmpeg can combine video. Or, commercial software like Adobe Premiere. Not sure about any capabilities native to Unity. I’ll have to explore that.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před rokem +1

      Green screen the background as a solid color would be an idea; otherwise, set capture source in the recorder to Texture Sampling, select Include Alpha, and in the camera component settings set Background Type to solid color.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před 2 lety +1

      While recording, playback in Unity is scaled - I don't think fullscreen is supported while recording? Could be wrong... but of course the recording itself is whatever you target. 4k 60fps above, and is spectacular.

    • @JasonSturges
      @JasonSturges  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@movieknight68 Game play should slow to meet capture requirements, depending on your system capabilities. Perhaps there are delta time calculations in your code? H.264 with constant frame rate worked best for me, and I was able to obtain 4k / 8k 60fps with the M1 processor with a variety of projects. Do you have frames dropping, low frame rate, or poor rendering per frame?

    • @movieknight68
      @movieknight68 Před 6 měsíci

      @@JasonSturges I tried 60fps, didn't make a difference, I ended up automatically screenshotting every frame to a png (over 6000 of them) then spent about 20 hours finding a way to combine them in sequence, without loss of quality, to a video file (mkv worked out well).
