- Welcome back for another A Song of Ice and Fire video. Today we will be taking a look at Ned Stark's first chapter in, A Game of Thrones. Once again, this is another chapter that is just loaded with information. We learn more about the relationship Ned Stark has with Robert Baratheon. We also learn more details surrounding Rhaegar and Lyanna's relationship. There are several clues that point to them being Jon Snow's real parents. Hi Dan, Do you remember the story of the "WOLFMAN"? Something in his blood caused him to turn into a wolf beast on the full moon. I think it's the same thing with the STARKS, but they are the kings of winter, their spirits wait to return as whitewalkers, they watch (hate) the living while imprisoned in their crypts, iron swords on their laps, and doors of ironwood on the crypts. "Winter is coming" and "there must always be a Stark in winterfell". A Stark would be kin and kinslaying is forbidden, therefore a living Stark will be required to defeat the whitewalkers ....who are also Starks....

I'm still reading the book (A Game of Thrones) & I loved Jon Snow's first chapter more but they're all great!!. I encourage those who haven't go through the books to start soon. It's such a joy to read GRRM's books

Really enjoy these chapter videos. They make me want to re-read the books again. I like your theory about the Night's King being held in the crypts. If so I could see Bran playing a role, perhaps inadvertently, that enables him to escape.

I have never been much of a "reader", but.more of a "listener".
I use to love having stories read to me when I was younger. When someone would read a story it seemed as if it freed my mind even more to let my imagination "sculpt" faces of characters and land shapes.
Yes, I could still do this if I was reading the book myself, but it seemed to be easier if someone was reading the story to you...
That's why I love videos like this so much.

I'm reading the books again and I just found your videos, it's really nice to see people commenting about the book in English because the translation sucks sometimes, in Portuguese version they didn't mention Robert's height , for example, but for a non English speaker is very difficult to read medieval fantasy books 'cause they usually use different language and expressions . I'm loving your videos, thank very much.Greetings from Brazil.

The entire hearth tree network and the old gods and tjeir magic and indirectly the creation of the first white walker are also linked winterfell. Dragons however have no connection and i think martin only added them later foreshsdowing them in the crypts of kings landing after ned becomes hand. Oldtown doesn't link to them. Dragons are alien to westros.

I find that pretty much every book made into a movie varies from the book. The books are ALWAYS better than the movies because they provide so many details you just can't fit into a movie. I have to give it to Stephen King, because the movies made about his books are right on track and truer to the books than almost any other I've seen. I love😍 your channel!! I've only recently tripped across it, and boy oh boy I am ecstatic that I did!!

Season one definitely did the best job of adapting the books, covered the first book pretty thoroughly, in many cases word for word. The casting made a ton of people look different, but it was worth having Bean and Addy’s presence

The hiding king line is about being king in the north not king of the 7 kingdoms. Jon is the oldest son of Ned and thus heir to winterfell.
In the books the night watch has a line in there oath that says I am the horn that wakes the sleepers? Could the horn Sam finds wake the sleepers in the crypts of winterfell?

In the books Jon is not the heir to the throne (I think Grrm confirmed this), when Rhaegar died on the trident Aerys named Viserys as his heir while Rhaegar's children were still alive. So Rhaegar's children were ruled out as heir to the throne which also rules out Jon and when Viserys died it made Daenerys the heir because Viserys didn't have any children.
Jon's claim is way stronger

I read the books after season one. I was so mad that i turned the television off and vowed to never watch again, while crying my eyes out. My sister is the one who encouraged me to continue, and she advised me to not get too close to any characters.

I'm a fan of the series and season 8 is exceptional story telling to me.
I'm a fan of the books as well. they are fantastic storytelling as well. Except for the last one. It stank the place up.
Both are great but different stories.
You don’t bury with your family men who betrayed everything you fought for and you have their name erased no way he’s in the Winterfell crypts
Even if jon is Lyanna & Rhaegar’s son he wouldn’t be the heir. Areys made Viserys his heir after Rhaegar died so once Viserys died Daenerys is the lawful heir but jon would have a strong claim
A stronger claim sadly because of the Great Council of 101. They passed daughters with a better claim for sons.

I really enjoyed the first book of ASOIAF aka GOTs. The first season of the show was pretty darn good too but even then they changed quite a bit in the adaptation since it's hard to be in a character's head on screen so they had to find other ways for exposition to happen. And any clever word play is of course lost. There's so much in that first book...you have your work cut out for you! :)
