You know his father Kirk Douglas was a tough act to follow . So full marks to his son Michael who proved himself to be equally as talented and just as hard working as his old man . That would not have been easy people, to step out from under such a giant shadow, it says a lot about both Michael and his father . Great stuff , thank you for this video, it was a well deserved award for Mr Michael Douglas . .......... a class act .

There was no politics involved because Obama was president and there was no real reason to complain. I'm sure the speech would be different if held today - Douglas, like everyone who cares for democracy, hates Trump's guts.

Michael is not just a gorgeous man who can act but a comedian supreme. Beautiful, humble speech. It really was special to see his father also.
Douglas' wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones is absolutely stunning and anyone who has seen her in either her Oscar winning role in "Chicago" or her performance opposite Sean Connery in "Entrapment" recognizes that she is a talented actress as well. Didn't Michael see her dancing in the aforesaid film? Douglas was great as Gekko in both "Wall Street" and the sequel, 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps". Happy that he is still with us and survived his diagnosis.

He isn't Nicholson or Deniro but anyhow he is a good actor and he deserves his success.

So I happened to be in Cannes during the film festival. The year? 1976. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" just came out. His Super Break. Walking hurriedly down the street in a tux was Michael. Just fun to see him. Of course at that point it was "Streets of SF" that I knew him from!
I love that actor,my favorite movies are Fatal Atraction, Basic Instingt,A perfect morder,Wall Street,I´ve seen them again and again,a thousand times.He is so handsome man with great personality,and for me one of the greatest actors.Happy Birthday dear Michael and greetings from Germany!

Kirk put him in the acting/producing business but is real mentor of acting was the late Karl Malden, Michael almost started crying when he thanked him in his speech. Kirk Douglas was a good actor during his golden years, but was more a movie star, Karl Malden was one of the most underrated actors ever, he was in the same league as Brando, Clift or Newman.
