This is some borderlands bandit/scav/cov gun type of thing. Very high capacity, but so inaccurate, also cobbled together with other parts of weapons and scrap.
In a way, your gun is very similar to metal storm, both fire multiple rounds from multiple barrels, however yours has to rotate into position for it to fire, while metal storm does not.
Honestly, this thing would make an absolutely killer super weapon for a large scale game. Each team gets a juggernaut and that thing is the most effective way to take them down.

I always thought of making a super fast firing blaster using this idea of the magazine dumping into the firing mech as opposed to loading it. Which I see people massively over complicating with giant spinning magazines that are cumbersome and unreliable... But the problem with long tube of death is it's very long... loading over 200 darts in one long tube is just nuts... but spinning them?... now we're talking. Mean even just this "i'm bored so I did this" already more than doubled all current records of nerf... imagine a fully fledged thing built from the ground up to do this instead of just cobbling? I think 300 is rookie numbers with a system like this.
Yeah you can definitely improve on this design a lot. The tricky thing is lining everything up as things are spinning. That would be the biggest challenge if you wanted to increase the fire rate with this design. Getting the darts out of the tube into the flywheels in milliseconds is tricky. The Springs I made are working fine, but I'm curious what their upper limit is. Some kind of compressed air system could also work, hard to say which would be more practical
This mechanism was used with a 12 round detachable magazine in modified Rival Zeus blasters a while back, they would dump the entire magazine in about half a second.

I found the whole mechanism unimpressive and by the sounds of tge video... so did the guy who made it.

Could you make multiple “magazines” that can be hot swapped? It’d take even longer to reload them all but you could fire it more than once. And I guess if you do that, well you might as well make them easier and faster to reload by making a system that pulls them all down so you can just pour the balls into a funnel, kinda like how some airsoft magazines work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
theres a guy who has spent years making the "MOAB", the mother of all blasters, a chain delinking minigun that fires normal darts at over 50 darts per second with controllable speed and ammo counting and costs about a thousand dollars and yet you have bested them with the jankiest, ork tech ass gun. i wish to cry on their behalf but also kudos for you for making whatever this is.
To be fair, this won't fire standard darts anywhere near as fast as it does the balls, so a direct comparison isn't really fair. In theory you could make an air powered "Claymore" or "Bazooka" like device that when triggered, launches 4 or 5 hundred balls all at once... but you wouldn't compare them directly to this. 🙂
something neat about metal storm is that it has multiple bullets per barrel which can be shot individually this allows each individual barrel to have a theoretical infinite rate of fire
Airsoft 40 mike grenade shells fire 150 bb's in a third of a second from one barrel with a recommended minimum engagement distance of 40 feet. Firing 3 perfectly timed one after another gives you 450 per second.
And? That's airsoft BBs, not these foam ball. And its three devices linked together to one trigger. But then three of these blasters combined would outperform that and so on. You could link hundreds or thousands of separate projectile launchers to one trigger, but it doesn't make it a single device.
well if you dont need the rolling display show, then air flow cannon of nerf spheres would be nice, like water shooter, also one shared container from which to scoop from.
Practicality isn't on the menu. If he wanted control and practicality, it would have been far easier and more practical to have one or two static barrels with balls being fed from a "proton pack". And several of those already exist.

It shoots 100 darts per sec however it uses full length darts and not the smaller balls……now I’m just thinking about how insane it would be if he converted it to shoot the 50 cal balls. I think he would have to redesign the chain, since it is held together by the darts, but otherwise it might be able to fire the 50 Cals just fine. Maybe I'll reach out to him for a colab
