Stan... My advice for a Security Cam System, I would NOT use WIFI Security Cams. A huge number of thieves out there are using WiFi Jammers to jam a security cameras signal from uploading it's footage. This is probably why your old cameras did not pick up the footage of the thief. Use only a hard wired security system. If for some reason a wifi security camera is all you can use, get one that has the ability to store footage onboard the camera itself so it can be accessed later.

Yes this is true as I am a security system technician. A good ip camera gives you great video quality yes you will need a recording device and a PoE switch but it will give you a better chance at capturing video.
I've used eufy cams for several years now and I really like them. Door bell cam is great and you should check out the floodlights, hard wired power. Also the pan and tilt cam will follow people as the walk past my house. Long gone are the days of honest people and that's sad.

Stan I'm glad to see you & your neighbors were able to help get her caught and off the streets so she doesn't cause anymore emotional/physical damage to anyone else. From what the 2nd precinct has posted on their Facebook page, this is by no means her first arrest for these types of crimes as she has multiple prior felony & misdemeanor convictions for fraud, drugs & theft. Hopefully this is a wakeup call and she is able to get her life together while she spends some descent time contemplating her actions and the people she choses to affiliate with as she was arrested in the past with multiple other people with similarly long records. I hope you are/were able to recover at least some small part of what was taken from you especially the sense of safety you & your family feel in your own home.
Nice one Stan. Here in the uk we have a problem with van theft vans getting ripped open for the tools and if you approach them you’ll get a kicking or end up in court because you’re not allowed to defend your property.👍👍🏴🏴

Omg! I thought that was the Stony Ridge Farmer on your porch. Go get'm. I testified in a murder trial after someone held me at gun point who later that night murdered someone in a car jacking. I sat in the witness box and pointed right at the guy in trial. We all need to stand up for justice!
Mail theft is a big problem here in NC, I'm sure the PO has had so many complaints, there is no way they can catch all these A holes!! Makes me furious how many thieves are out there now

Tip: It’s a little late now but you should never, ever tell people what type (brand) of security system you have. There are so many hacks out there to disarm the system or temporarily disable your security system.🚨

My system used sony cameras and a DVR from super circuits, not gonna hack it, because it’s hard wired under ground.
I can get the footage from remote, but there is no back control, so the footage can not be erased or deleted from remote.
Glad for the update. UniFi is what I use, all POE which I have the switches that power the cameras on Battery backups which allows the whole system to stay active for hours during a power outage.

I know it's across the river from Minneapolis and I'm sure that doesn't help. The prosecutors, judges and the whole of the judicial system needs to step up!! I just subscribed to your channel. As a person with vary heavy experience in surveillance & video / security/ alarm systems. I prefer a hard link closed loop/EMP cable systems [ie: POE power over ethernet]. I have a 360% pan/zoom half mile camera that is license plate reader capable DOJ spec and it run's off grid on a closed network. Stan you need to ask your self how far you want to take the security, wireless can have the frequency jammed & fail with other counter surveillance tactics.

One thing I would do is to buy better cables than what are supplied. With Cat6 being out, shielded Cat 6 would be my choice.
Sorry to hear about your issues. I chose Reolink POE cameras and bought their DVR. It's a minor pain to have to run cabling to cameras but is was 100% do-able. Lessons learned? Start closing your windows and locking doors. Sounds like you need a "secure" mailbox also.
Hard wired is the only way to go.
The bad guys can’t use your own cameras to peek in, or shut them off from remote.
I live in the corn-n-beans. Around here, you trespass and/or steal- you take your chances on never being seen again. The police won't respond to calls, even if people follow you home. A dog, a guard dog sign and some blam blam bling. I run trail cams around the property to see if anyone is sneaking around.

I had Arlo cameras and they had an amazing ability to record every unimportant thing that happened in their presence but somehow managed to NEVER actually record when I needed them to, even when something happened directly in front of the camera!

get a luma security system. a little pricey but worth every penny! i have a 12 channel and 2 ptz cameras installed that will zoom in on a bee in a flower at 150'.

Even 54 months is nothing, if she serves 18 months out of that I will be amazed. But one CAN hope... I would darn sure be there to give the judge a piece of my mind about what 'Should' happen to her. We've fenced-in the property with 5 dogs ranging from 80-150 lbs and have devices that give intruders a bad case of leed poison and if that's not enough I have a pocket knife lol oh forgot the cameras . As far as I'm concerned people that steal should rot in prison they can't be trusted. God bless and as always be safe 👍

Hey Stanley, I have a lot of experience using Wifi cameras and they are great for what they are. However, I would mount the camera way higher so people can't come along and easily steal it. Just my opinion.
Here's a thought. Hope you saved the mail she stole and didn't mess up the fingerprints left on it. Thief could also be charged with mail theft, which is a federal offense and if convicted she could face up to an additional 5 years in federal prison and a fine up to $259K. Of course she probably wouldn't get the maximum, and you may not want her fined if the fine were to paid before restitution. But a bit more time in jail with consecutive sentence would be sweet.

@@Dirtmonkey I subscribe to some channels that show this type of crime just about every day. Cars and trucks would have to be built like a tank to stop thieves. It’s best to keep valuables on you or in a car safe! Might be a good business for you. Lol

If you have checks coming in the mail or need to mail them, I would suggest getting a PO box at either the post office or a UPS store. Never deposit a check in the old traditional mailbox, much less have your carrier pick them up. For everyone who says, pay online, I'm a bookkeeper for a small business and a lot of our vendors are still on checks, or we receive checks from them. You want to close every possible security hole that you can.

With how your camera didn’t catch them is why I don’t rely on motion capture. My camera records 24/7 to my server and also does motion but that’s for me to see easier. I also get motion notifications.
I had a iPhone delivered but nobody knew it was sitting on the front door step. Cameras motion recording didn’t see him walk up the yard. It also happened that the door bell wasn’t working so even though he rang nobody knew.
On top of that my neighbor just told me that some black kid in a hoodie snooped around his porch for packages and his dog barked and the two of them ran off.
After noticing the package on the front step I was able to go back my to my constant 24/7 recording and found exactly how the package was delivered and that notified me that my bell wasn’t working.
Illinois also just got rid of cash bail and people with serious crimes are let go until there’s court date. They can miss their court date and then they get sent a letter saying hey you need to come in. And until they missed the second one then they’ll have a warrant for their arrest. And this isn’t for petty crime this is for burglary and assault and more serious stuff too.
Yeah, you can go pretty sophisticated with this stuff.
That needs to change.
I never been involved with a situation like this but anyone who is willing to do things like this to someone. Deserves life in prison or death penalty. Identity theft I know effects people for years .
Not worthy of death but certainly a long prison sentence, it costs upwards of a million dollars to fully prosecute to execution. Not worth the cost. Take that money and give it to the victims.

I'm still sorting my security situation out. I too have had two security CCTV systems and like you, one had recurring charges of $19.99 a month. I ditched that company over two years ago. The other system I installed could not handle the extreme freezing temps (goes down to -35 F here in Winter) and had to trash that one as well. Now, I'm back in the market for another system but it has to be able to withstand harsh weather conditions and temps. I'm still in a hold pattern until I find a system that's reliable, cost effective and functional. Go get that witch!!
I bought this system about the same time you did for our business and I'm loving it. We have a seafood market in Maine and our home sits right behind it on a bit of a null and we have 6 of these cameras all over the property. Very good system and I love it has local storage.
You should have YOUR wireless security cameras on your neighbor's house and your neighbor should have wireless security cameras on your house facing their house. This is for 2 reasons 1. the view of the house opposite from a security camera is usually a better view than from your own. 2. If the thieves disarm the security camera on YOUR house you still have great footage.

Thats not just theft, you can be in pretty serious danger during a car jacking. I personally think if you think your area is so dangerous you need to concealed carry its time to move.

But if enough people show them they won’t be intimidated into surrendering then the threat will either go away or they will decide it’s not worth messing around in that area. Bending the knee only leads to more crime, especially from the cowardly ones who don’t have the spine for more serious crimes.

Stanley, Toy cameras will give you unreliable results. You would be better of with NX Witness VMS and Hanwha cameras with built in AI so you get reliable results.

Stan, I just watched a review of various cameras. One thing to keep in mind about Eufy (you pronounced i correctly) is that it doesn't have end to end encryption and it requires an internet connection in order to work. You can't access anything (not even your cameras) if there's no internet connection. Otherwise, it got good reviews.
Also, keep in mind that while wifi is easier to install, it's also easy to jam, rending it completely useless. Wired just works. You get an upfront cost in labor and the benefit of being more secure and less hassle for charging stuff. Given your perspective on building high quality things, I assume you understand the benefit of putting effort in up front to get something better in the end. Good luck with the criminals, I hope they don't return and this whole thing is a waste of money.
Stan: That camera isn't going to work outdoors in a Minnesota winter. A low temp rating of -4 deg F won't cut it.

we lived in Bonney Lake WA, COPS on camera caught a mail thief 3 doors down, $75k in washed checks, we have a security drop box now. We live way out in the country now. mail theft is real
I follow Bob fletcher with live on patrol from Ramsey County. Have him speak. Maybe he could convince the judge to put her away for a long time during sentencing. As a citizen, I don't want her on the streets for decades

Love that new box smell. I wish I knew about this system. I bought a CCTV system on amazon and it seemed to work but it had to be always on to be of any use. I wanted to just turn it on and look. I was using it to remotely check my oil tank level but the cameras got a bit too warm and the screen/DVR's battery died too quick so I ended up reinstalling the old system after I fixed it. It was the bunker hill security analog CCTV system with two cameras and a screen from harbor freight. This worked much better than the one I bought. I hooked up a DTV converter box and watched some TV on it since it used composite video.
6 cameras on house Hard wired and 3 cameras on service van all cloud backed up. Since I placed the cameras up I have not had an issue, but I do like the system you picked up and will look into it, Thanks Stanley!

ive got the wireless doorbell and floodlight camera from eufy and i love them. selecting zone that picks up movement eliminates false alerts is the best feature
@@brettheath3182 I'd probably need at least 4 actual cameras. I've got the linked up lights to where they'll all go off when one trips. But they're kinda useless if it's not recording. I've spent thousands on security because one parent let's their cr**k headed son move back in every time he gets out of jail.

That's the brand I chose for security cameras for all the same reasons. #1 no cloud storage, it's all on an SD card. As long as they don't get in and steel the box inside... it's awesome. They should also have a tamper alarm, so if someone is messing with it a siren goes off.
I think you can download the video clip to your phone. So you have a pretty good chance of downloading it before they get to the base unit.

Arlo is what I went with. It catches every corner of my house along with the HVAC units. I also have the doorbell that picks up stuff too. If a car/truck passes by it captures that too. I have used it before to catch a drunk driver that hit my sisters car that took off. That’s a different story all together. Trust me I know how to get out of a DUI/DWI etc now. I also ordered dash cams for my vehicles they will come in handy living in the country.

My cousin over in Michigan stole less than that and he got: 6 months jail, 90 days boot camp, 30 days at a halfway house, 90 days tether and 5 years probation and had $3,200 in restitution that he owed and they wouldn't even let him off probation until his restitution was paid in full. The State paid the victims in full right after he plead "guilty", then he had to pay the State back before his sentence was completed.

Very curious to hear about this system a couple weeks into January when it is -15º out and we only get a handful of hours of useable sunlight for charging. Cold reduces battery life (even in Lithium Ion batteries) and a good BMS will limit or totally turn off charging at extremely low temps. I'll be really surprised if this does not fail at some point throughout a MN winter.
From the manufacture website:
"Please note extreme cold weather may cause eufy battery-powered eufyCam to temporarily stop functioning since its operating temperature range is -4°F to 122°F / -20°C to 50°C due to the built-in lithium-ion battery. However, eufy battery-powered eufyCam will automatically resume working normally once temperature becomes warmer and falls within the device’s operating temperature range."

I use a Poe++ system that works well in the winter. Pelco 270 cameras with the ir add on. Works like a charm. System is way more expensive than what you installed. I’m curious on how it works in low light and can you can link o their cameras in the system so when one goes off others can start recording as well
I'd stick that camera up higher with a ladder so someone can't knock it off from behind or take it. Hopefully it does what the last one didn't. More importantly, hopefully you are not a victim again. Best of wishes to you and yours.
Second or third this! I have a friend that had an outbuilding broken into and things stolen. So he setup a camera, leaving it reachable from ground level. The thieves returned, stole more things, and stole the camera as well.
Hoping the camera helps deter them too. We'll see 🙏

Yea that sucks . I know someone who got murdered 4 months later they were still looker for him . I told The Who he was and they still could not find him. Once I was able to walk after being hurt . I went out and on my first stop I was talking to a friend and another person was there . She said he was living with his mom and dad . I went home called the detectives gave them the address and told them I would be there . When I got there 5 cars were there . I waited they said he was not there . I got pissed and told them to bring in some dog. They asked me if I was sure . I told them again get yr fucking dogs . About 10 minutes they had some dogs amazing the dogs found his sorry ass . One of the detectives told me not to get out of my car . He made sure to tell me I see what you have let’s not go there . I showed up at every court date .
